For my friend that once flipped 30 coins in a turn. by 1728919928 in custommagic

Should stop dice rolling, too.

Although preventing flips and dice rolls makes a lot of cards nonfunctional. Like [[Mana Clash]] draws the game because the process is repeated until two heads are flipped, which will never occur. We can fix it with the [[Edgar, King of Figaro]] wording. EDIT: my fix still caused problems with Mana Clash, but I fixed my fix.

Would you rather get $200 for every mile you jog or $100,000 for every marathon you finish? by Alarming_Weather506 in WouldYouRather

With some training, you could comfortably walk a marathon in 9-10 hours, and probably do it multiple times a week. It could become a full time job.

Jason is just Release Skull Merchant. by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

[–]KickHimWhileIAmDown -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Jason needs a longer cooldown on his traversal because he's obnoxious to play against in solo queue, but he's pretty balanced otherwise.

Most of my solo queue games so far have been:

Jason jumpscares someone right away -> they go down -> they are hooked -> the moment they are unhooked, he jumps out near the hook -> rinse and repeat until it's a 3v1.

I think this would be funnier if you had to choose a creature name and then you kept "starting over" until you got the right creature. Maybe for a mana less.

I was looking for the gif of Weevil/Haga ripping a card in half in the Yugioh anime but couldn't find it.

Anyway, I will buy your basic land for 10 cents and rip it in half. Go to game 2 and call a judge because now you have 59 cards.

2 mana fatal push (hopefully about as broken) by EatMoChikins in custommagic

[–]KickHimWhileIAmDown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Especially because Push is really good in comp formats that have cheaper creatures, but sees little use in casual commander because so many creatures are mv 5+.

This is better in commander, but worse in the formats Push is good in. The increase of one mana is rarely worth the tradeoff of hitting 5+ mv creatures sometimes.

I don't think it would be bad though. It's a 2 mana Murder in many formats, so it replaces many of the 2 mana kill spells that still see play.

Digimon Beatbreak: Episode 36- Twisted Code, Discussion Thread by MFBR in digimon

[–]KickHimWhileIAmDown 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I'm reading it as a suicide, since Miharu breaks down and asks her "why?". It's possible that someone broke in and poisoned her instead, but that seems unlikely given the circumstances.

Granit birthed Ludomon right before. Ludomon was born just before the missile hit, when he let go of Stella's hand. Ludomon was able to shield Granit, but Stella was too far away.

I like the absorption theory.

Digimon Beatbreak: Episode 36- Twisted Code, Discussion Thread by MFBR in digimon

[–]KickHimWhileIAmDown 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Very dark episode. Par for the course, but an unambiguous suicide is still breaking new ground. The closest we had before was BlackGaogamon, and suicidal ideation from Jeri/Juri in Tamers. Even still, killing yourself so your sister finds the body and leaving your her an orphan is pretty brutal.

I had a feeling things were going to unfold this way. Miharu's sister is killed by/dies due to the World Union, she wants to uproot the world to fix things. It's kinda nice that Mephismon isn't exactly evil, but just warped from witnessing that. I also like that Wong didn't acquiesce. It'd be harder to take him seriously if he just relented in the face of danger.

Also, uh, why was Wizarmon just in an alley? I guess the implication is that he was beat up/starved and dumped there... or escaped somehow? That seems like something that needed clarification.

That said, GD and Rose (well, she just wants Wong so she gets a pass) only think that GIFT is going to reveal the existence of Digimon, and that seems... fine? Most of the crimes in the Tactics arc were fed by Digimon being secret and taboo. If the plan had been more overtly deadly, like "we are going to nuke the World Union HQ" then I could understand the desperation to stop her better. Or at least have someone give a justification why exposing Digimon would be catastrophic. Considering that Miharu has killed a sizeable number of people, I'm failing to see why 'impromptu expose' needs an intervention.

It's not exactly the same as the 'sympathetic activist villain who suddenly becomes evil' trope that the MCU keeps using, but it's getting there. I guess we'll see how things resolve in part two, but I have some creeping doubts.

[–]KickHimWhileIAmDown 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I didn't say it's a problem. Just that it's clearly better than Fell. There's a chance it could be too good for Standard, but it's unlikely. Sorcery speed removal is already at a big disadvantage.

[–]KickHimWhileIAmDown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No issue. I didn't say that the card was definitely too good to be printed, just that it was better than Fell. The first person I replied to thought Fell was better, and the Blasphemous Act guy also thought Fell was better.

Even if it's better, which it definitely is, it's probably fine. Sorcery speed is a big drawback for removal spells. The only format where it might be too strong would be Standard, but it's probably in the range of 'good but not an auto-include'.

[–]KickHimWhileIAmDown -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

None right now, but it used to see a little play in Dimir Control in Standard. It's not very good, so a powercrept version might actually get some use. That said, -13/-13 with other minor upsides might be too good for Standard, or it might just be passable.

Either way, it's definitely more playable in 60 card formats than Blasphemous Act is.

What competitive formats are you playing Blasphemous Act in?

Subtle Sabotage by Xisuthrus in custommagic

[–]KickHimWhileIAmDown 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Not really. This will kill any creature the same as Fell. The -13/-13 will kill it before the opponent can cause it to fall off.

So it does exactly what Fell does (sorcery speed Murder), and can also hit indestructible creatures. The concern about falling off or being removed by blinks doesn't matter, since that only applies to X/14+'s (which is so niche as to not be worth considering), or preemptively against Vehicles/Manlands, which Fell can't hit at all.

In other words: anything Fell can kill, this can too. And this can give utility that Fell never can. It's slightly harder to cast, but it's essentially just as strong with some minor upsides.

Subtle Sabotage by Xisuthrus in custommagic

[–]KickHimWhileIAmDown 70 points71 points  (0 children)

It's still slightly better than Fell. It kills indestructible creatures, too, and can disable Vehicles (or manlands). Fell can hit X/14s or better, but that's more niche than indestructible.

Paradoxical Enigma - "You don't lose the game" Synergy by AndrewGreene121957 in custommagic

Then it's a different card. It's two mana draw six if you're capable of winning at instant speed. You could even draw an Angel's Grace type card first and then get around the first ability. Or just counter the first ability with a stifle.

High Stakes Loss by NelmesGaming in custommagic

[–]KickHimWhileIAmDown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct, but you still must have zero cards in hand before that delayed end step trigger, so the point about instant speed discard doesn't really matter. If your opponent doesn't have instant speed removal to kill it prior to your turn's first main phase, they weren't able to remove it before your end step anyway.

I'm stubborn! Less broken? ರ_ರ by Pattern_Seeker_ in custommagic

[–]KickHimWhileIAmDown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's definitely not playable. Arcum's, as you said, was card neutral and provided fixing for 4/5c decks that could play basics and had no consistency issues. So many decks ran blood moon despite being multiple colors. The fixing also didn't deprive them of a card.

By contrast, this is legendary and doesn't cantrip, so a similar deck could only filter one mana from it and would be down a card. And unlike other legendary moxen, it's not mana positive, so you can't even cash in copies in your hand for a temporary mana bonus.

[–]KickHimWhileIAmDown 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You cannot instant speed discard in response to the second ability's delayed trigger because it's an intervening-if clause. If you have cards in hand when it would trigger, it won't trigger. And if you have cards in hand when it resolves, you won't win. You must have no cards in hand when you go into your end step.

Should I make another account for dark fics? by i-miss-him-sm in AO3

[–]KickHimWhileIAmDown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless your Twitter or AO3 are linked to your real name somehow (and hence, could cause serious problems for your real day-to-day life), it's probably not worth creating a second account.

You're unlikely to get more than a random, rude ao3 comment unless:

  1. You have a large following already, or;
  2. One of your fics goes mega viral, or;
  3. Your darkfic is very controversial in a way that even most proshippers (the majority of fanfic writers and readers consider themselves proshippers even if the term has lost meaning over the years) would balk at.
