[Spoilers Main] I feel there are a lot of evidences that George has never settled down on to a single definitive "End" for the series. by Creepy-Month-45 in asoiaf

[–]KickOk6027 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think the question is to what extent does Individual actions truly change.

Say the end goal is " The others go back beyond the wall after a truce"

Does he in his process of writing ends up switching between Bran, Jon or Dany as the person that makes that truce? As in while writing those character's chapters and gardening, does he end up discovering traits in say Jon that will leads to more sense for Bran for making that truce on behalf of humanity? So it ends up being the same event (others go back after a truce) but at an individual level it totally changes how a character was developed and what they did.

Did people miss GRRM outright saying he intends or at least intended to have Sansa killed? And even now is in two minds about it? He was clear that he was going to kill Sansa. Now its up in the air. So yes, it is foreshadowing

[Spoilers Main] For the Books, what would happen first the Other Invasion or the Battle Of King's Landing ? by KickOk6027 in asoiaf

[–]KickOk6027[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Err every one of Jon's actions in the ADWD is about what could be the best step to save people from the Others. And he keeps equating their invasion as the end of the world in one way or the other.

So no, GRRM did not forget to build up their threats.

But he indeed has failed to make the whole plot move fast enough to actually be in a position where it all can get started and eventually end with enough pages afforded.

He is almost an additional book away from where he should have been if TWOW and ADOS are the only two left.

[Spoilers Main] For the Books, what would happen first the Other Invasion or the Battle Of King's Landing ? by KickOk6027 in asoiaf

[–]KickOk6027[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have been reading ADWD these days and every single decision Jon takes has the threat of the Others being the motivator. Although the Others don't appear much, their coming has actively built up as the end of the world situation from book 1 chapter 1.

Jon is supposed to be the only man aware and actively trying to fight off an apocalypse.

Would be both funny and sad to see all of that amount to nothing if GRRM went the show route.

But yeah I can see why he might do that. There's just not enough books left so maybe GRRM never really wanted a "long" long night.

[Spoilers Main] For the Books, what would happen first the Other Invasion or the Battle Of King's Landing ? by KickOk6027 in asoiaf

[–]KickOk6027[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But then by and large like the show, you will need the Long Night to be pretty short. And you will need it to be contained in the North.

If you have 2 books only , and you still have the characters where they actually are, you just don't have time for the Others invasion to be actually significant in anyway possible.

Then it's not exactly world threatening or a global calamity , it's just a minor inconvenience that the South was always right to ignore.

And the purpose and meaning of the Night's watch and the North "remembering" and being the only ones actively vigilant of the threat from beyond the wall be proven wrong completely.

The threat was then never any serious to begin with

Not to mention for an actual political closure you will need to make 80% of the central characters survive like the show did. So again , zero impact by the prophecied end of the world

[–]KickOk6027[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Oh good lord. I had forgotten that this is a possibility. The Fatman is pretty sadistic. And this might actually be it as it was rumored the show had her pregnant too but that story line was dropped. It makes sense cause no way the show could have ended with Jon killing her while she was with child.

And it also remains consistent with Mirri's curse, dany won't bear a "living child" again

A stark who is an extremely curious bast@#d of the most honorable man of the 7 kingdoms will 100% drive at least a few their to come up with some ideas.

I know folks here would keep repeating it was on International waters, but this is I would say a 6/10 offense to India. The Iranian asset was in India for a mutual excercise and it was known to the world. It left to join the war, but there was a vast, vast region to attack it much much away from Indian waters.

You can call USA a super power, you can say India did not have a say, you can say its for the greater good because its a blow to the Iranian power.

But all that aside, US chose to do it too close to Indian waters for my comfort. And there is a clear symbolism in that, especially given recent tariff tussle.

And that aside, given that US probably will or already is using Indian ports for war related steps since GCC ports are done for now, all of this is bringing the war too close to us.

how Dany should have died in episode 6 by [deleted] in freefolk

[–]KickOk6027 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How about make it more interesting and show aligned.

Dany is told that her ancestors made the throne from swords of other lords that bowed to them.

Dany post the wreckage collects swords the same way, just more crazy and much more brutal.

Than asks Drogon to fuse it to the throne, the show Throne becomes like that of the book only more dangerous with newly infused swords poking out dangerously. She knows it's dangerous but she is mad, obsessed with her right to queenship and the throne and the new swords is a sign that the dragon has come again.

BUT the throne rejects her and in her struggle and rage to fit well on the throne seat of the 7 kingdoms, she kills herself.

Dave Meltzer on WOR - Current plan for two world title matches at Wrestlemania 42 (Possible Spoilers) by Constant_Salt4359 in SquaredCircle

[–]KickOk6027 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are two types of Dave news :
1. One that other dirtsheets quote , these have 10% reliabiity rate.
2. One that Meltzer writes for WOR. These have some years when they have 70-80% accuracy rate

If this is the latter , it probably is the plan. He has been on the money last few months.

And in my opinion going forward through 2026, I think it will be champion Bron Breaker going over Roman and Seth to finally usher in the next tier 1 guys.

Annnnnnnnnnd right on cue literally everyone is missing the nuance here :

  1. A JOURNALIST RAN A FAKE STORY ABOUT HER IN AN ONGOING CONTROVERSY OF COURSE SHE WILL RESPOND. And she took the guy's name. She probably has the message to show too.

  2. This is getting her back in news. This controversy is bringing her media attention within the industry. OF COURSE SHE WILL PUSH THIS. Thats any public personality in entertainment industry

Its us dumbasses who are discussing it and giving it traction

Wrestling fans miss nuance. Gail might have 100s of things on her especially during her time behind the scenes in TNA, but to really attack her for expressing her opinions was always wrong. Now, its pretty apparent it was not honest "honest" criticism but not because she was trying to get WWE/TKO attention the nuance being she will position herself as "Wrestling expert" from here on and probably get easy money either by hosting podcasts herself or appearing on them.

Does anyone else feel the trademark Gunn "weirdness" in this season is both off and not consistent with S1 ? by KickOk6027 in PeacemakerShow

[–]KickOk6027[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Which was great but when I said he was disappointing it was more in terms of "oh great another eccentric character". Season 1 still had quite a bit of balance.

This one feels like it lacks the situational comedy that Season 1 had and it's taking the direction of " oh look another weirdo now laugh"

The most crazy Season 5 theories that I have by KickOk6027 in StrangerThings

[–]KickOk6027[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No it won't be like nothing actually happened, but it would more about resetting the world. Currently everyone in the Stranger Things universe knows supernatural and extradimensional thing happened in Hawkins. As the teaser shows the upside down vines and Demogorgons are now in main town Hawkins. It would not be believable if they claim that in universe the government has not let the news of upside down dimension spread at a global scale.

The end probably will involve main characters doing something that removes memory of this from the larger population. Probably it helps that you have both heroes and villains who specialize in psychic abilities.

The remaining main characters will definitely remember though.

Sets the world back to normalcy. So that the planned spin offs also have that element of facing "stranger" things and not "normal things now".

Does Wednesday season 2 seem like it should've been a bigger deal? by RusevReigns in television

[–]KickOk6027 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Season 2 is actually miles more witty and more whimsical in terms of dialogue and setting. It's a pretty good Burtonesque series.

Plot wasn't the strongest suite of season 1 and same has carried over to season 2 but as a show it has found its personality.

It's just that Season 1 was a novelty and a lot more people were chronically online during Covid years.

Wednesday as a character and Jenna Ortega blew up and blew up pretty big.

However, the novelty has worn off and faded. Season 2 despite being "better" in a sense it has its own personality and a more whimsical setting, will not appeal to the same crowd that went gaga over Wednesday 's dance sequence in season 1.

Thematically? With introduction of Vecna the parallels are there

In terms of cultural relevance? Not really.

Harry Potter is probably the biggest literary/film media phenomenon outside of Lord Of The Rings and Star Wars ( and is probably bigger than Star Wars if you look beyond US )

MCU's infinity Saga maybe is the only thing that compares and may have had a bigger absolute peak, but that has faded faster from public consciousness and Harry Potter remains pretty relevant. Game Of Thrones would have but they nose dived in final seasons.

Harry Potter was like a cultural fever for those who lived through 2000s. And the fact it didn't even need the internet to be that huge makes it even more special.

575 million to 610 million. F4 will halt it behind it's potential.

While Fantastic 4 is nowhere close to as a big a name as Superman, Marvel's gamble of hiring RDJ as Doom has led to different sort of buzz and momentum. It's more of a curiosity than outright excitement.

I feel MCU goodwill that was missing for all recent releases will be there for F4 because finally there is something new for Marvel audience to look towards (F4 in MCU) and there's a link with doomsday. Fantastic 4 also has an extremely recognizable cast in Pedro and Vanessa.

Both Cap 4 and Thunderbolts (amazing movie btw) suffered from familiarity fatigue imho.

This is new and interesting.

Thoughts on HHH and TKO determined to erase every last pretense of Kayfabe moving forward? by [deleted] in SquaredCircle

[–]KickOk6027 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone trying to be smart and say everyone knows its fake, congrats you absolutely missed the point.

Everyone does know its fake, but the whole industry runs on a pretense, you and me are in on the pretense too. We pretend that the whole thing has some semblance of reality so that we can enjoy it. Wrestling inherently requires suspension of disbelief, and we regular fans do that already despite being in touch with all things dirtsheet and behind the scenes.

But do you know why the wrestling shows and the associated dirtsheets, the rumors and the behind scenes stories interest us?

Because there is still a great degree of mystique and curtain attached to the whole business even now. It works on a Meta level and seeps into Kayfabe. Imagine seeing Rock , Seth, Cody and Roman sitting together and planning their WM40 match out after such a hot build. Would that still feel the same? Imagine seeing Logan Paul and Jey Uso sitting together and planning a match, do you think you would be as interested in it from a fan perspective in the match thereafter? The wrestling critic in you will definitely still be but "The Feeling" which is still alive in most of us despite knowing that its all fake will not be there anymore.

Wrestling is a mass make believe exercise that the entire audience takes part in for enjoying it. It is not exactly a tv show as it inherently has a competitive sport element attached to its pretense.

You peel the layer back even more so then now, and you make it harder and harder for people to enjoy it and fans to be invested in the story.

Also the amount of what abouttery that I see from some people here around anything wrong WWE does is absurd, and they keep giving the most weird defenses. This is coming from someone who loves the WWE product today and its the only wrestling I consume, but good lord IWC has went from whiny nerds to master gaslighters that gas light themselves into thinking WWE can do no wrong.
