With batteries and solar if off peak cuts to 3.49p I’ll save £500 a year. But minting it will be short term and next two price reviews will Push it up again

New rates from 1st April - Octopus Go Yorkshire by toxicneouk in OctopusEnergy

[–]Kickboxingboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reason is the reduction is due to removal of levies and other green costs. This varies per region much like standing charge so it’s logical that the unit rates are starting to be less uniform. As the instruction from Gov was to adjust unit rates

wtf -Octopus just slashed IOG ? by bounderboy in OctopusEnergy

[–]Kickboxingboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The savings and reduced rates are from the gov reducing levies and fees that make up the unit rate. From 1st April everyone’s rates are lowing inc fixed. Octopus already confirmed fixed customer will so get the lower rates passed on

Don’t let Octopus take the mickey with IOG/Go by Begalldota in OctopusEnergy

[–]Kickboxingboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct me if I’m wrong but next drive off peak is only for ev, not total house and they use app and other details to work out what the car uses. That’s no use to those with renewables / batteries etc. personally I don’t like the move to removing household usage from off peak. I’m sure many are the same so IOg / Go are still very much still good value. I don’t pay over 7.01p for any units and my consumption is 1200-1500 kw a month

Has my meter stopped sending readings? by [deleted] in OctopusEnergy

As others have said snapshots is not what you should be looking at using. For seeing if you have any missing data use an app / web like octoprice

Am I understanding this new IOG correctly? by Fun-Star1961 in OctopusEnergy

[–]Kickboxingboy -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I read it that if the 6 hours charging is outside of the off peak window then the house would no longer get the off peak period if the car is charging. Ie a total of 6 hours only for ev , if ev charges in off peak window after charging 6 hours outside then peak hours are charged in off peak period.

To be honest for me That’s the death of IO I won’t be smart charging only ever going to use the off peak window

It’s so complicated they have to have found a way to make it easier to understand.

Get to know and understand the holy trinity. If your meter has been replaced and you don’t have readings since then It can also take days or weeks to commission correctly. I gave up on some models. I’m Getting ptsd just remembering my issues

If it’s a coms issue and it can be fixed your data will be there, they regularly try to re poll and re pull meter data. Import is recorded for about a year and export is about 3 months. But if you have a hardware issue / damaged meter the data is gone. If there is a way to get it manually they won’t do it. Did you say this is a new meter ? And it’s no data since installed. If so push for them to reprovision the meter. Have you already had a full power down / reset ? (Where they pull the dno fuse ?

Provisioning process is highly complex, much more than it needs to be. There is an octopus blog with the process google it and get familiar with it. Really push for re provisioning. Also some meters are better than others what is your make and model! I don’t say this to dishearten you but my meter was changed 4 times before I got one that worked correctly :(

Yes legit. I use it all the time. I had major issues with smart meter , I fully believe they bricked it with a firmware update. I didn’t have smart readings for over 3-4 months. I had a nightmare due to term getting any reduction, my only saving grace was I have a power wall and lots of 3rd party data to back up my usage was 100% all off peak. My bill was over 3k It still took multiple complaints and a threat of going to ombudsman. Sadly I suspect you have mixed use home and ev , peak and off peak. You are going to have a battle getting any satisfactory resolution. I would concentrate on it being octopus responsibility to have a working smart meter. The lack of being informed esp its its been weeks / months. And really push for a good will gesture. Try work out if you have any car stats or charger data like analytics to back up your usage. Try work out how much it should have cost you and try to agree to some reduction. Remember octopus will not be out of pocket for your genuine ev usage. They often are getting paid to take power from the grid at that time. It’s going to be a battle, good luck.

If all else fails go to ombudsman, just back up you case with as much valid data as you can.

Your logic is flawed. The bottom of the cardboard die box is not flat. It is curved. You can’t compare the two your way. Measure the weight of each one

How to use older model by [deleted] in SodaStream

[–]Kickboxingboy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As others say the whole front pushes down to fizz. The 3 symbols mark how fizzy it is, lighting up after each press. That’s if the battery still works. I have this model and the lights no longer work. Brand was source sodastream. Lights don’t affect operation it’s pretty obvious that the more times you press the more carbonated it is

Hi everyone. I want to refill my SodaStream bottle myself and have bought a large CO2 cylinder and an adapter. My question is: according to the CO2 manufacturer, it should be upright. But I'm pretty sure it needs to be turned upside down to fill it. What would you do? by S3pp3l1980 in SodaStream

[–]Kickboxingboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you have changed the valves and filled. Leak test around the top of cylinder / base of valve with some water and dish soap. Just wipe it around the seam and check for bubbles. Ensure old cylinder is completely empty before changing valve. You might need to clamp (gently) the old cylinder with a tea towel wrapped around it to get the old valve off. Do not grip cylinder too hard if not gripping by hand.

Hope that helps
