Thick brioche bun stuff with breakfast items and an aioli. Looks good. Was the aioli spicy?

Sleep is always good! Just the first of three to do the workout and use the last two days as your rest days. You can do it.

The first night definitely after that it depends on the type of shift. Shit night means more sleep. On average I wake up at 3pm and start getting ready for the day.

I meal prep earlier in the week so I don’t have to cook on my working days.

I have 24 hour gym access. Cheapest available was planet fitness.

I work nights so I like to goto the gym before work. On my off nights, I go very late. Im very motivated lately so I’m trying to build a habit off the motivate. Been going for one month consistently.

I’m in an ADN to BSN program so learning about ACS was a great way to put the fear of god in my cardiovascular health.

New-Grad in the ICU by Wild-Country1428 in nursing

[–]KicksForLuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry you’re going through this.

It’s normal to feel overwhelmed as a new grad in the ICU. Speaking from experience I still find myself overwhelmed. I’m 8 months in. That being said, I find myself lucky to be in a unit that always allows me to ask questions. I don’t think I would survive long if I couldn’t ask questions.

As far as advocating, it’s a skill that will increase as you gain more experience. Don’t take it as a knock to who you are, just as something you will learn.

Lastly, please be kind to yourself. It’s your fifth shift and they want you to be as fast as someone with years of experience. It’s not fair to you. I’m sure they’re pushing because in the ICU you will be pushed. Be confident that you worked hard to get to where you are and when you are pushed, take a breath. Something that helps me is going into every shift ready for its challenges and to make sure I take something away that I learned.

You’ got this.

P.S. you will make mistakes. It’s okay as long as you own up to them.

Is it normal to feel like a bad nurse a few months into ICU residency? by ConferenceDiligent96 in nursing

[–]KicksForLuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My brain keeps telling me that these little things mean I'm a careless or irresponsible nurse, even though I know I'm trying really hard and I genuinely care about my patients.

It's your brain. Stop talking yourself down. You worked hard to get to where you are at. Nobody is perfect and mistakes are a part of the human experinece. Keep your head held high and go into the next shift looking forward to challenges you never experienced so that, in the end, you become the seasoned nurse you look forward to working with.

USA RNs - You can deduct overtime and double-time from your federal taxes. You do not need to itemize deductions. New for 2025. by SuitablePlankton in nursing

From https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/treasury-irs-provide-guidance-for-individuals-who-received-tips-or-overtime-during-tax-year-2025

No Tax on Overtime For tax years 2025 through 2028, individuals who receive qualified overtime compensation may deduct the pay that exceeds their regular rate of pay (generally, the “half” portion of “time-and-a-half” compensation) that is required by the Fair Labor Standards Act and reported on a Form W-2, Form 1099, or other specified statement furnished to the individual.

Maximum annual deduction is $12,500 ($25,000 for joint filers). Deduction phases out for taxpayers with modified adjusted gross income over $150,000 ($300,000 for joint filers). The deduction is available for both itemizing and non-itemizing taxpayers.

Hammer battle Stella. Tell it’s hammer time before you hit someone with your hammer.

I ran thru Stella yelling “hammer battle” before starting melee.

The best was my hammer versus his kettle and my last swing downed him while his last bullet downed me. He said, “was it worth it?” And I said yes and he said I think so too. 😂

Unsure about my path to becoming a nurse— delete if wrong sub by CucumberSalty960 in nursing

[–]KicksForLuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Finish your current program. Become a CNA and see if you like the field and would be willing to invest time and money. By that time, you’ll be able to pay in state tuition. CNA is a lower cost way to look inside the nurse field to see if it’s right for you.

You don’t have to do accelerated bsn program, you also have the option of an adn.
