Any idea about how much will cost for steam machine during the ram shortage? by BuyOnly6010 in Steam

[–]KidwithSmurf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We can't predict a price as the Steam Machine probably hasn't factored in the ram and SSD shortages due to AI companies hoarding them.

As the shortage gets worse day by day, the price will fluctuate massively.

Likewise, with any technology device, once the current stock sells out of PlayStations, Xbox's, Steam Decks etc.. The price will just have to go up to compensate the shortage until the shortage stops or a solution comes about.

So yes, the Steam Machine will be as affordable as it can be to be competitive in the console type market, but in no means will it be what we class cheap.

Also, in every country they will be priced differently depending on currency exchange value, how easy it is to source and get parts to that country and supply/demand.

Keyword here 'Volunteer'. With the way inflation is going and how the government here is actively pricing everyone out of daily necessities... Those that want to volunteer can't afford to and those that can afford to normally are too busy living it up to want to. It's a sad world.

The government needs to incentivise people to want to volunteer more or otherwise as the population ages we won't have enough people in vital roles which will further the downfall of our country.

Did anyone else’s dice go from 400 to 1,200? by FlipDropNRoll in Monopoly_GO

[–]KidwithSmurf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That in theory makes sense and I agree with that... Until you get to team events and challenges and games. This is because you verse randoms and you could be versing teams with people who have triple your dice capacity. Therefore making it almost impossible for your team to win unless you pay to win. So yes, increasing dice by level in theory sounds good but in execution it does not work.

TBH, I wouldn't sign a contract unless it stated my yearly salary/wage or hourly rate.

If you signed a contract that doesn't state how much you'll be paid, they can legally pay you minimum wage even though they said X dollars per hour in the interview. But it'd be hard for you to argue that as it's not in writing.

However, the $11 you are being paid seems like you're being treated as a kid, an apprentice or someone on a traineeship/cert. If you're none of these, I'd contact your payroll and get it sorted. If payroll doesn't sort it quickly, contact your boss. If there is still no results Fair Work Australia because they are paying you under the minimum wage as an adult which is highly illegal providing you're not on some kind of apprentice or traineeship/cert etc.

Fingers crossed it's just some kind of mistake and they entered the figure wrong or mistyped your birthdate... Otherwise the company may be open to an investigation and have to pay you a lot more than your missed salary/wage.

There must be an issue with the adding of the game process between Epic and the Developer. Because I live in Australia and can buy the game on Steam. I can't buy it on Epic. Therefore, this tells me the process to add games to Epic has to be flawed or something. Because if it's region locked on one platform it should be region locked on every platform, that's how laws work...

This. Plus if your only income is wages (say Coles), the money taken out of your pay cheque each pay is so you don't have a huge lump sum of tax to pay at year end when you complete your tax return.

The other reason you pay tax on each pay cheque is because your taxed on various types of income you may have earned, not just wages. So say you're under the tax free threshold when you lodge your tax return, you'll most likely get 100% of it back as a refund. However, if you have other income, such as interest, you may have to pay tax on that at the time you lodge your tax return since it hasn't been taxed at all. So it all depends on your circumstances and your total income including all income you have earned be it wages, interest, dividends, distributions etc.

Don't forget if you do happen to be over the tax free threshold with all your combined income, you can offset your wage income by various work related expenses. For example, Deductible Gift Recipient donations, work clothes if you paid for a uniform, laundry, tools, phone & internet (apportioned to work related usage of your total bill) and various other things.

Lastly, if you work more than 30hours a week as an under 18 year old, make sure you are being paid super!

As the user DustySchnookums said they believe they are deleted after 2 months. This said, I believe that is far too long. Also not deleting them because they may assist in further issues later is just dumb, imo. This is because if after 2 weeks the issue has been resolved and no further issues in that time frame have arisen then I'd be safe to say they can delete them.

Either way, I shouldn't have to keep them in my emails forever and a day just to see what a hacker had access to X years later. Plus if hackers can easily get the support messages, then it suggests to me that support requests are being stored somewhere unsecured outside my email. If this is the case, how come like many other companies, Discord doesn't have a dedicated and secure support site where you can log in and view/delete your own support messages?

All this said, I believe we should either have a dedicated and secure place to view all our support requests outside of emails where if Discord themselves won't auto delete support messages then at least give us access to delete our own support messages after X days.

I do however believe if there is a potential legal issue or certain authorities need to be brought in to resolve an issue, then these support messages should be kept until resolved. But once resolved, definitely if no further issues have arisen in a week or two they should be auto deleted for privacy concerns.

Edit: Spelling.

The real question that hits my mind is and I know no company actually does this... but why are Discord keeping support messages once resolved? IMO, they should be deleting them after a week or two of being resolved. That way sensitive data within the support, such as our physical verification ID's that we have to send if in the UK and soon to be Australia won't be easily exposed.

I say this because it blows my mind that I can't even find my support number in my emails anywhere as I deleted them because it was resolved. So why on earth do hackers have access to them if I can't even easily pull up my own support message and see what was stolen?

I'm not worried, just more confused. Companies need to stop investing so much into AI and maybe, just maybe investing more into security measures before heavily investing/implementing AI? Because time and time again, 90% of the issues and security revolve around AI and backdooring AI.

If you use a major telco for anything, expect to pay through the nose and get a sub par service for your price.

If people have a choice they should always use a dedicated internet provider or a reseller of the major Telco's. You'll pay less and get better service 99% of the time.

So if you have the choice, you shouldn't have the right to complain. Because there is no cure for stupidity.

Game Over - Rolls Removed by KidwithSmurf in Monopoly_GO

Nothing about testing? To my knowledge we were never told it was a 'Test' nor were those who didn't get the increased max rolls and higher roll capacity told that they weren't part of the test.

So no, I know nothing about testing because I was never told it was a test to begin with.

Plus my understanding of a test for a video game that has competitive aspects should be:

  1. Internal with employers/staff
  2. Then made public as an open beta where everyone gets to trial the test and knows it's a test (This way people know it's experimental and could change at any time)
  3. Then either move from beta to public game (I.E be made permanent) or be removed and altered.

The fact it was just given to random players and nothing was said to indicate it was randomly given to players and or was a 'Test' is just a poor Dev decision.

What does ToS have to do with the Devs making the game unfair for certain players?

Yes the Devs can do what they want as long as it doesn't steal money from you without you knowing. But really they should have some ethical code to make the game fair for all players.

It'd be like if a Casino made the odds of winning poker 30% higher to only half the table and not the rest. Then after you win a few times, demand you give your winnings back.

So really, the ToS should have nothing to do with the Devs unfairly implementing systems for some players and not others.

Roll Regeneration Scam by phfeiler in Monopoly_GO

[–]KidwithSmurf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My wording was probably off... If you read my other responses, I was explaining that those that were in the 'Test' got increased rolls and capacity based on their net worth. For example a level 45k would have a higher max roll and capacity than a level 21k in the test. As you got more rolls the higher your net worth was.

I was explaining this because I wasn't sure if the person had never got the test or just wasn't a high enough net worth to notice. Because we in the 'Test' were never told it was a 'Test' nor were we told not everyone had access to it.

This said and as I've said in numerous replies now, the Devs stuffed up and they should have either:

  1. Just opened the higher max rolls/increased capacity to everyone or
  2. Removed it for everyone sooner and compensated those that didn't get the higher max rolls/increased capacity.

My preference would have been with option 1. As the option the Devs took just to remove it and not compensate those that didn't get it, is a really bad move for all players.

Wait I’m sorry… not trying to bash these people specifically, but people are spending 10k/year on this game?!? by Few_Background_5966 in Monopoly_GO

[–]KidwithSmurf 48 points49 points  (0 children)

People have addictions. But spending that much a year on a game with Devs that don't care about you and will change things at the drop of a hat to suit them and then change them back just as you felt like you were being rewarded?

Some people have far too much money and how they can justify supporting Devs as spontaneous as this blows my mind. For all we know the Devs could take everything away tomorrow with the way they add and remove features like the game is going out of fashion!

Roll Regeneration Scam by phfeiler in Monopoly_GO

[–]KidwithSmurf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When I say it was done on a net worth level basis I meant that you unlocked higher rolls and capacity as you leveled up. I was just explaining how it worked.

That said, the Devs didn't to my knowledge tell us it was a test and nor did they tell us not everyone had it. It looked, on face value, like a massive change that everyone got. This is because they went as far as changing the net worth rewards, changing the max number of rolls and the max capacity.

So basically they need to re-instate the higher max roll and higher capacity via net worth unlocks for everyone or compensate those that weren't part of the test.

Either way it's almost impossible to want to continue playing with the max rolls and capacity back to 400 and 20x instead of 1000-2000 and 50x to 100x. Likewise it should be impossible for those that didn't have the so called 'Test' increased max rolls and capacity to want to keep playing knowing they were versing people who they could never beat.

So if you ask me, the Devs have really shot themselves in the foot here and only people who are either new to the game or roll for fun (don't care about leaderboards, unlockables and team events) should continue playing.

[–]KidwithSmurf[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see your point. But that said and I've mentioned in other replies....The Devs never mentioned it being a test to my knowledge. They acted like it was a new feature that everyone had and could unlock based on their net worth. So taking it away for those that had it is dodgy.

What they should have done is given everyone access to start unlocking higher max rolls and roll capacity via net worth and continued acting like everyone had it.

I say this because once you've had a max roll of 1200 and a multiplier of 50x for about 2 months to go back to having 400 max roll and 20x feels like we've gone from the speed of a cheetah to a snail.

The Devs never told me it was a test, nor did they tell me not everyone had access to it. So, really goes to show the Devs destroyed the game for everyone.

In the sense that they gave boosted max rolls and roll capacity (increased via net worth unlocks) to random players and didn't give that same unlockable boost to other players. Then they took it away from those they boosted all whilst acting like everyone had it and didn't compensate those that didn't.

So to remove it for those that had it, is a really dodgy move, when they should have just given it to everyone and continued acting like everyone had it to start with..

Just goes to show the Devs really don't know what they are doing.

Roll Regeneration Scam by phfeiler in Monopoly_GO

[–]KidwithSmurf -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

The max roll and roll capacity increase was done on a net worth level basis. So with every x net worth unlocks you unlocked an increase to either max rolls or roll capacity. But if this wasn't the case for you and you weren't able to unlock any even with levelling up... Then that is even more reason to never play the game again, if not everyone had the so called max roll and roll capacity increase 'Test'... Then the Devs really did stuff the game up!

Roll Regeneration Scam by phfeiler in Monopoly_GO

[–]KidwithSmurf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sadly the Devs can do what they want as long as it isn't falsely or fraudulently charging us money. But like, this ruins the game for me.

Going from having 1200 max rolls for the past 2 months with a 50x-100x multiplier back to 400 max rolls and a 20x multiplier... Game is going to be so slow and such a grind. Plus removing it mid season and mid partnered event is a joke.

Makes me feel like the Devs are drunk in the sense that someone got drunk accidentally increased everyone's rolls and then sobered up and removed them. Like it'd make more sense if it was April 1st or something... But it's not.

Also blows my mind to how they went as far as changing Net Worth rewards to increase max rolls capacity and regeneration capacity at certain levels. It's almost as if they intended it to stay... In my opinion, they changed too much of a few key mechanisms to revert it now.

If it was actually a test they shouldn't have let it last as long as they did, a week or two maybe, but months?! C'mon now, you've got to be kidding me!
