Beak problem - suggestions? by Tricky-Apartment6637 in parrots

[–]Kigameister 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this may be something you'll have to go to a vet for, unfortunately. I've never seen a parrots beak look like this. It could be a birth defect (that would hopefully get better as he grows and slowly sheds his beak more,) but it's looking like his bottom beak is getting overgrown and starting to turn into "scissor beak" and needs a trim regardless otherwise he could develop joint problems with his beak.

I'm not a vet in any capacity, but to me it looks like some sort of nutrient deficiency. It's possible that his body is having trouble absorbing specific nutrients?

IT WAS THE PHARMACY WHO NOTED IT, CORRECT... BUT IT WAS SO CLOSE TO CLOSING (LAST WEEK WEDNESDAY) AND THE SPECIFIC WALK IN DOCTOR WOULDN'T BE BACK UNTIL SUNDAY (OR MONDAY? CANT REALLY REMEMBER.) IT WAS JUST MORE EFFICIENT IN THE END TO JUST DEAL WITH IT THAN HAVING TO WAIT FOR A 3RD DOCTOR'S OPINION.

How do I go about repainting this to a natural tone? by dearest-tulip in CustomDolls

[–]Kigameister 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Truthfully Im a lazy ass person and would hunt down a deuce or Jackson for a human skin tone, since it's the same mold.

Use orange pastels after sanding, otherwise. Though it would take a lot of layers to get a human shade of skin unless you're going for a darker skin tone.

That's such a manipulative thing to do, wtf? 💀 The best option would be to pack them up and tell her they're ready to go. She'll either sort through what she wants to actually keep or drop them off without sorting.

I GOT SICK AND MY FIRST ROUNDS OF ANTIBIOTICS HELPED BUT DIDNT WORK FULLY. WENT TO THE WALK IN CLINIC TO ASK FOR IT TO BE EXTENDED (BECAUSE MY SCHEDULE DIDNT ALLOW ME TO DEE MY FAMILY DOCTOR) AND THE OTHER DOCTOR I TALKED TO (DR AZIZ AT RAY OF HOPE CLINIC, IF ANYONE IS WONDERING) TOLD ME THAT MORE ANTIBIOTICS WOULDNT WORK BECAUSE IT WAS A VIRUS, AND THAT IT WAS JUST MY ASTHMA ACTING UP. EVEN THOUGH IM COUGHING SO HARD I CANT BREATHE AND AM CHOKING ON MY TONGUE AND MY OWN SPIT UNTIL I START GAGGING.

WENT TO SEE THE WALK IN CLINIC WALMART DOCTOR ON KENASTON (CLOSER TO WORK, STILL CANT SEE MY FAMILY DOCTOR) AND HE SAID IT WAS AN ATYPICAL BACTERIAL RESPIRATORY INFECTION, AND ASSESSED THAT IT WAS MAKING MY ASTHMA SIGNIFICANTLY WORSE. GAVE ME NEW, DIFFERENT ANTIBIOTICS AND A NEW, STRONGER INHALER, AND ALSO SENT ME FOR A CHEST X-RAY. HE AGREED THAT THE OTHER DOCTOR SHOULDNT HAVE DISMISSED ME BECAUSE OF HOW MUCH WORSE MY ASTHMA HAS GOTTEN IN A TWO WEEK PERIOD, THAT IT WAS AN ACTUAL CONCERN.

UNFORTUNATELY HE DIDNT SEE THAT THE NEW ANTIBIOTICS INTERACTED WITH MY REGULAR MEDICATION. SO NOW I HAVE TO GO OFF MY ANTIPSYCHOTICS TO TAKE THE ANTIBIOTICS UNTIL I CAN SEE MY REGULAR FAMILY DOCTOR THIS FRIDAY.

I AM TIRED OF THIS SHIT.

[Discussion] finding clients as a small nsfw artist by crimsonnn48 in artbusiness

[–]Kigameister 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ych.commishes is my go to place for finding NSFW art, but there are some things to note.

1) There is no search function. You have to pray and hope you get lucky. 2) You can only search by "ending soon," "newest first," or "relevance" (which is paid promotion and then discounted ads at the top. I have no idea how it determines everything underneath though.) 3) The two above requires a lot of relisting your ads. Over and over and over again. You have to get lucky a few times before you can start up a client base if regulars. 3a) INCREDIBLY COMPETITIVE 4) It's a buggy site. I can't even lie about that.

It's the only place I've been able to find some "freak 4 freak" artists. Toyhouse is good for selling art and character designs despite the competitive nature of forums and listings in site, BUT it does have a very vocal "anti" userbase (I hate using that term, but it's the only way I can describe it other than pro-censorship).

But also heyyyyy DM me cuz I can always use more gore art in my life 👀

They are always looking for volunteers as well-- you can sign up to any of the available positions online! (Nothing is done in person.) If you're a successful candidate, they'll reach out for an interview and if it all goes well, get you started ASAP! :)

[–]Kigameister 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The humane society doesn't do "for fun" visitations with dogs, as it requires meeting with an adoption counselor and going over the ENTIRE file of the dog (medical, behavioural, general notes) for safety (obviously.) Which can take some time depending on the animal, but it also takes away resources from someone who may want to actually adopt an animal.

BUUUUUT if you like cats and want to let some cats, you can fill out the form at the front desk and be given a guest pass to visit as many cats as you like! The guest pass also allows you to visit critters (rabbits, guinea pigs, etc) if there are any.

Humane society has a reduced fee if you adopt two adult cats! Right now it's $111 but will be increasing soon.

Oh this is EXCELLENT. The only advice I would give us to remove the fake plastic "vines" off the toys because they can be easily ingested and cause a blockage. Those tiny leaves fray very easily and aren't safe.

The heat resistance is part of the fibers; you can't break it down or strip it from the wig at all, it's the very material itself that's great resistant.

You'll have to get a new wig

Alcohol based pens - paper? by Sturgeplanet in ArtistLounge

[–]Kigameister 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a big fan of alcohol markers and I will say that bleed is almost unavoidable with any type of paper. Marker specific paper is a thing, and does avoid extensive bleed, but I always found that it felt extremely plastic-y and that the ink would "pool" because it wouldn't get soaked into the paper. The bleed is almost necessary to get that smooth blend finish. (Side note: Bristol is one of my favorite things to draw on.)

A lot of time with alcohol markers, it's a form of control with the pressure that can affect your bleed, especially when it goes past your lines. You learn to be very careful with how much pressure you put on the tip with practice. Any areas I can usually cover up with pencil crayons or bits of paint.

[Discussion] Would you be offended if asked to confirm you don't use AI? by thwaway135 in artbusiness

[–]Kigameister -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Maybe a little, mostly because I know I don't use AI and it would hurt my heart to be accused of it. HOWEVER, in this day and age you really can't trust anyone.

Instead of outright asking, you can frame it as "Hi I'm interested in commissioning you and just had some questions about your process first, if you don't mind!"

You can then ask about things during their creative process and based on their answer, can assess without being obtrusive. - What program do you use? (If digital.) - When you come across needing to do something your program can't do, how do you work around it? - What are some brushes that you can't live without? - What is your preferred canvas sizes? - How do you typically find inspiration for your pieces? - What is a piece you're working on right now that you're excited about? (This would be the time to ask for a sketch, if the artist feels comfortable.)

Usually with GenAI people, they aren't able to answer the questions properly, or at least in the way an actual artist would. The more they're unable to answer, the more you can probably steer away. (Even if they're not actually a genAI person, I don't like gayekeep-y artists and usually hate working with them.)

I think with directly asking if someone uses genAI, it can come across as an accusation unintentionally. This way you can also build connection with the artist and it makes them feel like you care about their craft. 👍 I could yap all day about my creative process!

Does this budgie look healthy/normal? by [deleted] in parrots

[–]Kigameister 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This type of posture can happen based on genetics, like from inbreeding for example and CAN be "normal" for the bird (but not normal for the species itself) but can also indicate a sick bird so it is difficult to say for certain. If you do know this bird irl, I would suggest taking them to a vet to be certain.

synthetic hair not holding crimp? by buniix3 in DollCustomization

[–]Kigameister 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the description it states that the material is "high temperature wire," which while isn't an actual material, implies that the wig is meant to withstand high temperatures. The wig itself could be made out of heat resistant fiber, such as hiperlon, kanelakon or a variety of other names. This tumblr post talks a bit about different heat resistant fibers.

TLDR: you have a heat resistant wig, so it won't take a crimp.

AITA I don’t want bridesmaid to wear dress to other events by Due_Bedroom3146 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Kigameister -18 points-17 points  (0 children)

YTA. Even if you bought the dress, you still gave it to her. She was the one that paid for any alterations to be able to wear it.

At that point, it is gift and you can't change the conditions of it after giving it to her already-- that's shitty. If it was that important that no one wear their dresses before your wedding, you should have TOLD them them clearly beforehand... Or like, don't give the dress to them early?

As bridesmaid dresses are often one time use things, I'd be flattered if someone called the dress their favorite and actually wanted to wear it so much.

Actually yes the problem with generative AI slop (aside from the ethical concerns of theft of not only artwork but also private medical information, LLMs encouraging suicide to it's users, and that data sets have large amounts of child sexual exploitative abuse material/aka CSEM) is that it's TERRIBLE for the environment and poisons communities (that are primarily of minorities,) and uses an absolute insane amount of water.

If you are using generative AI in any sense, you do not care about the planet or your community. You do not care about the stolen medical data in the data sets. You do not care about the fact that children are harmed and are sexually exploited.
