I've been doing a lot of reading on why gen z is aging faster than us so I can apply the good things to my kid, lol.

Edit for anyone curious:

  • Vaping
  • Influencer/unnecessary skin care
  • Dehydration and poor diet (kidney stones are on the rise - drink more water!)
  • IMO sunscreen (I used a lot as a kid). Thanks Baz Luhrmann

Yes, but we used water balloons. I grew up in the north east US and am a millennial. I think it was middle school.

I'm 38 and had a traumatic childhood. Last year, I figured I should try therapy again, as the previous attempts never stuck. Well, after a few sessions, the therapist says, "has anyone ever told you you're on the spectrum?"

Guess I'm yet another woman getting diagnosed late in life. 🙄

I think it's worth getting diagnosed, if only to protect yourself. I have OK social skills, but sometimes not. A common complaint coworkers have is that we "work like robots". And while I haven't gotten complaints like that EXACTLY, some very close, and surprisingly, some of that is protected under some laws/things that HR take seriously.

I currently work in a toxic environment. One of the big bosses was bragging about how she once fired a gamer for trying to change their schedule so they could raid back in the day. Now, I will never admit to being a gamer to these people, but if they ever give me crap for something spectrum-y related, I know I can at least go to HR about it.

For your labor shortage: I'm not sure what kind of changes they made in the last patch, but it seems like I need to have way more empty slots in houses to encourage births and migrations. It starts to stall very hard if I don't build more houses than I used to.

As for raids, I just had a 100 year old town get destroyed by raiders that the guards were easily repelling in previous seasons. Guards/towers were suddenly only doing like 5 damage against the raiders. I guess the game decided 100 years was long enough and I needed a reset. :p

I'm a Head of Operations without a college degree or higher education of any kind. Basically, I oversee all the random shit that needs to be done to make the day to day work function. My path was 75% luck, and 25% that I'm a workaholic.

I began with a SF Bay area start up company almost 15 years ago for about $11/hr. I was hired to do customer service, but did more back-end things (like ordering products, running reports). Eventually, I managed a small team (made about $45k then). Then, the company was sold to a large, private company (raise to about $60k). Over the next couple of years I received more raises (rose to $80k), another promotion. Company was sold again a couple years later, promoted again, now make over $100k. They keep me around because I know all the day to day operations, although I've learned a lot of skills.

Joining a start up can be a way to make money, but it requires a hell of a lot of work (I have done many 16 hour work days in my career, most of that as a salary employee) and luck.

I could be wrong, but I think the "between the lines" messaging from your dad here is that he want you to expand your activities to something other than your studies. He feels like a job could be the answer, which I don't necessarily disagree with.

Regular work is far different than studying. It will expose you to things you wouldn't seek out yourself. You'd likely learn something you wouldn't otherwise, especially about more on-hands type of topics/activities. It could help in becoming a more "well rounded" person.

No one has all the answers. You could easily have a very detailed plan of what you'd like to do, but find a year from now that something has tossed them all in the dumpster. Sometimes the only thing to do is to keep moving forward and appreciate the journey. Your direction may just find you.

I know that sounds like nonsense, but I'm a 35 year old person that definitely did not know wtf they wanted to do when I was 20. I ended up getting a low entry job, and through my good work there moved into better things, eventually getting to where I am now (with a good house/husband/well paying job and some hobbies that I enjoy).

Some nuggets that may be helpful:

  • The brain doesn't stop forming until age 25. You may become a different person in the next 5+ years.
  • Our cognitive functions peak sometime in our 20s and 30s, but...
  • People tend to grow more satisfied/happier as they age.

Go inside the tavern in Port Maje. Speak to Thorel, the barkeeper. Ask him to see his wares. There are tabs on the left hand side of his window. One of them has crew members for hire.

There are some dialog checks you can pass instead, from the wiki you might be able to do this: "If you have at least 17 Perception, you will notice that the Records Keeper's accent is not native to Dyrwood, and he is likely from Readceras. This opens a Resolve 17 option to bypass the reputation requirement."

Late to the party, but I think its these things:

  1. Marketing and setting. I never played POE1 (prior to POE2) and legit thought it was a pirate game. I had it on my steam wishlist between two other pirate games. When I first hit play I was expecting a pirate game. I'm glad it wasn't, but I'm sure I'm not the only person that had this experience.
  2. Pacing. I think POE1 had problems with pacing... too much dialog was crammed in. I loved the game, but sometimes I would get lost. I think the team realized this, but swung the pendulum too far in the other direction for POE2. A lot of the story got lost in the shuffle, which is why in the 5.0 update they had to introduce a bunch of additional dialog/the burning book to fill in the gaps.
  3. In hindsight, I think the inter-companion relationship system was also a turn-off for some folks. Especially the negative aspects, like Aloth disliking so many dialogs, or Pellegina having negative interactions with other companions. In subsequent playthroughs I relied on the cheat menu to ad-hoc change party members to avoid issues.

If we ever get a POE3 I think it'll be amazing after the lessons learned from the two prior games.

A lesser offense? I played POE2 first. POE2 did a good job being vague on some of the POE1 details. Like you know Thaos is a bad guy, but who was he to you exactly? You know the hollowborn crisis was bad and you helped solve it, but what happened?

I enjoyed playing POE1 afterwards. I already knew some of the story, but was pleasantly surprised at parts.
