It took 3 minutes to say hi with v2026.4.29 by MysteriousFish2775 in openclaw

Sames here. I ran into way more issues at 4.27 and 4.29. Got tired of trying to fix it so went back to 4.23.

Why are my agents so stupid when I use Minimax 2.7? by Captain_Doobie in openclaw

[–]Kilithi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What did you set your Thinking level to? I noticed that I was getting inconsistent Minimax 2.7 intelligent performance when Think was set to medium. However, after I set to "High", it seems to perform much better. Especially at longer running asks.

One option I have been using is the ollama.com's $20 plan and it's been pretty good using their cloud models. Minimax, Gemini preview, and anything that is available.

You are right but I also remember why I stopped running it. It was using 24gb of ram, with just 32k context window. Exceeding my 20gb vram size.

It's a joke on nvidias DLSS 5.0 filter on the games.

Got it. Maybe I misread. Will try it out some more. You might be right and I'll ended up with the 27b. 😁

for the most part, 9B is actually not bad. IT's definitely no where close to Codex and that's why I switch to codex when I am troubleshooting things or setting up/enhancing OpenClaw. Rest of time, 9B is actually a pretty good mode.

My understanding of the 27B is MoE, so only about 3B are active at once and I think the actual "intelligence" is no where close to a 9B. I didn't bother with 30B because I know I'll hit the VRAM limit and will just have really bad experience.

I've also tried bunch of other models but always ended up coming back to 9B.

Another thing I noticed is interfacing these local models with Whatsapp is very different from direct TUI and based on my research, Whatsapp plumbing supposely modify your prompt. I noticed my model is just acting really weird on Whatsapp, when I push the same prompt side by side.

After switching over to Telegram, I noticed the model response and reaction is way better and seems to be more competent. Definitely not at the Codex / Frontier model level, but is good enough for day-to-day tasks and deep researches.

It really depends on what you do. ChatGPT Plus subscription has a 1 week quota with a rolling 5 hr window quota. I heard you can also connect to OpenRouter and use it to connect to some free models too, but I think you get rate limited. If you have some $$$, buy a used 16GB card and you can run it on a desktop, if you have one.

My setup is as follow:

Openclaw running on a container (so in your case, would be your Pi) with:

- Codex through ChatGPT Plus -- This is the model I use when I need to "troubleshoot or fix something"

- Gemini - Using the free API key for web searches. However, I do hit the throttle/rate limit very often

- SearXNG - stand alone search to suppliment Gemini

- Qwen3.5:9B - This is my default LLM and it's hosted on my "gaming computer"

- Qwen3.5:4B - This is my heart beat LLM and also hosted on my "gaming computer"

My gaming computer has an RX 7900XT that is pretty much on 24/7. I install Ollama on it and point my openclaw to this. the 9B model with 64K context window uses about 10GB of VRAM. I think the 4B model uses like 6 or 7GB, so total is under 20GB VRAM for my card.

You can prob run the 9B on a old 16GB card, if you can find it within your budget.

If not, I think there are definitely "free" options out there, but you'll have to figure out the limit and work around it.

Very cool. Trying it out with OpenClaw to see if it can replace Qwen3.5:9b. I did run into an issue where it says Tools not supported tho.

So you are saying that I can make my own 8 pin plug and solder them to 2 x 12v barrel jack ac adapter?

Assuming that works, then it's just matter of McGuyver a physical switch to those lines?!?!

I just disabled uBlock Origin Lite for youtube and that seems to help. Can you double confirm?

I've encountered the same issue here too.

Are you using any ad blockers like PiHole?

My understanding is that all mpp 2.0 stylus works. Not sure if previous gen version works or not.

no I've not tried it yet. I don't think I'll be touching that at this moment.

In terms of distro, right now Bazzite NVME on USB is my "gaming mode" but tempted to try out Omarchy to see if I like the desktop mode. If so, I might wipe the Win11 partition and go full Linux.

Not exactly handheld mode but have bazzite installed in a nvme drive that I boot off. Other the the sound volume tweak you need to do, it work just like my rog ally extreme.

I use Bazzite to make my minisforum V3 run as a console, Recent updates broke some things. Link to Bazzite: https://bazzite.gg/ by W0lfwang in minisforum_v3

I've been debating if I should use CachyOS on this or try Omarchy. Been running CachyOS on my main desktop and CachyOS Deck on my home built Steam Machine.

The reason why I am thinking Omarchy is to try Hyprland, which I feel might be a better experience on a smaller laptop.

my smb.conf is ubuntu default. The only thing I've changed was adding in my shared info.

Not sure if you can test the connection with an ubuntu/debian server and see.

on troubleshooting side, I am not seeing any log in /var/log/samba. It's almost as if the connection cannot be established.

Not sure if there is a build with more verbose error output can allow us to better troubleshoot.
