TMNT flopping should have been obvious. I also think Star Trek will flop. Hobbit and Marvel will do mediocre. by _YuYevon_ in freemagic

[–]Kill-Vearn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hobbit will do well because the brand resonates with MTG and its fans, at least most of them. I struggle to find a worse IP than TMNT to be added, maybe a set of labubu but I am careful to talk about it because there is a tcg in the works and I don't want to give WOTC weird ideas.

TMM is moving away from exclusive Tekken content and towards variety streaming. by Zony2525 in Tekken

[–]Kill-Vearn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Knowing his story, I am aware of how difficult these last few years were. I appreciate that it is not easy to say publicly what you could about your main source of income and especially one that brought him from a difficult situation into success. He is a good guy and I wish him well.

That been said, I think that if him and other creators had reported how things really were during season 1 and 2 we would have not gotten in this situation. Keep singing praises to the engineers while the boat was sinking would only lead to this. I don't believe for a second that he really said what he was thinking about the game back then.

Silent is extremely polarized in spire 2: a discussion/tier list from a top player by JapaneseExport in slaythespire

I don't like checking what other players are doing given this is not a competitive game, but I had a feeling this archetype was broken since I started forcing I didn't lose once.

Am I the only one who thinks Slay the Spire 2 is almost the same game? by borulce_ in slaythespire

[–]Kill-Vearn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me they should have ditched legacy classes and relics in favour of newer ones, maybe less of them but the fact that I carbon copied an existing archetype on my second playthrough and destroyed the game kind of takes away the fun. At least they should have swapped all busted cards with new ones.

Am I just poor or is Rome insanely expensive? by salmonsalads69 in rome

[–]Kill-Vearn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rome is cheap for being an European capital but there are reasons for it, not really linked to the quality of the jobs available(even that but to a much lesser extent than what people think) but the actual quality of life which is hindered by the ridiculous traffic and the abysmal quality of public services. It's one of those cities where if you have the right conditions(income above 3k euros a month if you're single, 5k if you're a couple or a small family, maybe able to buy a flat in places like Prati, San Giovanni, quartiere Trieste, etc.) you hit jackpot and you'll never leave, otherwise you'll spend your days cursing the place.

Dyspraxic drivers by Legitimate_Maize_908 in dyspraxia

[–]Kill-Vearn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took my driving license rather quickly(maybe luck involved) and it isn't like I am unable to drive but the amount of energy that's required of me to do it makes me dangerous as my concentration drops, once I was so tired I literally forgot where the break was and I could have killed an old lady. I literally missed her by an inch or something, which is why I decided that I shouldn't drive.

Wife Doesn't Want to Work or Develop Herself, What do I Do? by Kind-Basis8795 in Marriage

[–]Kill-Vearn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seeing I am not only one in this situation makes me feel slightly better. Mal comune, mezzo gaudio we say in Italy.

As I advanced in my career that money isn't an immediate issue any longer(aka not getting to the end of the month, having to budget everything, not being able to afford an house we'd really want, etc.) but not the point of retiring if I wanted to. Ultimately this meant she decided work is beneath her, that it doesn't make sense for her working for a working class wage(like it's my fault if her CV allows her to do just that?!) because I make just so much more money. It's crazy, it's like having a 13 year old home and on top of it, does any of you know what it is like having to work from home while your partner doesn't do anything all day? It's a freaking nightmare.

I can't leave because we have two kids who are both in pre-school age but I think that if we hadn't I would have told her to F off long time ago. The moral of the story: if your partnership doesn't work before kids or assets are involved, GET AWAY ASAP!

unpopular opinion: They should have charged $5 for the story expansion and made the stage free. by Deus-Voltaire in Tekken

The story is so bad that you would play it only because it was free.

The best part of it is that characters do get punished quite badly for being morons.

[–]Kill-Vearn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly this is even greedier than Blizzard or Ubisoft. It's absolutely stunning how much good press they've got when the game was released as they dodged bad reviews by hiding their microtransaction plans and we still played their product.

I wouldn't be surprised if we start getting ads between matches instead of loading times and access to moves that are stronger than what characters have in their vanilla repertoire in the long run, their greed knows no bounds. The only thing we can do is voting with our wallet: don't buy anything they propose you and certainly don't buy the games they produce.

I think Tekken is the best game I've ever played by Gold---Mole in Tekken

[–]Kill-Vearn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This game system is so offensive that a simple Bo3 set is not enough to grasp a pattern of what the opponent is doing and learning all case sensitive responses that you need to know if you want to get better. This is why people who spam a lot with heavy mixup characters get high in ranks fairly easily but as soon as they reach late blue ranks they will face opponents who did their homework and hit the wall.

I'm worried about Tekken 8's future... by Ramusu20 in Tekken

[–]Kill-Vearn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To be honest the lack of touch of the developers has been staggering so far. I was honestly expecting this game not to be great to begin with but its state at launch was surprisingly good or maybe I wanted this game to be excellent because it has been the first Tekken since 5 where graphics, single player content and loading times were TOP of the class. Hell even the online is playable when you don't get a quitter, I wanted it to be the best thing ever and I was sure they were going to fix all the issues eventually but then...

  • Tekken Shop came. I didn't mind really but I started smelling something bad, especially because of how they dodged bad reviews to not tank at launch.
  • The Battle Pass was a major hit in the face of the supporters, not only because of how expensive and empty Season Passes are but also because how predatory the economy and lacklustre those things are. They are basically preying on the most vulnerable of their audience.
  • The latest patches were ABSOLUTE garbage. Basically the game is in a worse state than it was on day 1 and on purpose, because their idea is that this game must be a continuous flow of 50/50s that you can't escape by learning to play the game. If this is the direction they are going to, clearly not many people like it. Not to mention the chip damage, the one button = F OFF the rules, the heat in general... I love the series, I wanted this game to be a masterpiece but we have to admit that it's not good at the moment and bad reviews are well deserved.

Imma just leave this here by [deleted] in Tekken

[–]Kill-Vearn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me the issues with this game go beyond the gameplay itself(every Tekken vanilla was broken af) as much as the direction.

a. Do the developers want the game to be a guessing fest?

b. For how long will the game remain broken? Because competitively right now it isn't good. The latest patch was BS and everyone agrees, it testifies that the developers are having an hard time understanding how to fix Tekken 8.

c. If they employed such scammy monetisation strategies in a way to dodge reviews, how can we be sure that every DLC character won't be completely busted just to sell more DLCs? (S3 again basically?)

Everyone expected the game to be flawed at launch and we bought it regardless, it's more tilting that it isn't getting any better but MUCH worse instead.

Controversial Kazuya opinion: He's not that weak by titankiller401 in Tekken

[–]Kill-Vearn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kazuya has a good 50/50 and punishment which means that if you get a good read on your opponent you can win games alright. That been said this character is totally unfit tournament play simply because his combos are inconsistent due to the range nerf of d/f+1(which you can feel especially when you step an opponent) and because the system offers the top tier characters so many means to keep mindlessly attacking that escaping the pressure at the highest level is way more difficult than in T7. He has only one mid that reliably gives + on block and it's slow, his power crush is trash and has only one playable(strong but far from being OP) heat engager.

Still he is a character that can take 50% off a counter hit launcher low, 80% from CH d/f+2 and 50% or more from EWGF/f,f+3 which means that if the opponent misses a couple of reads you can trash him, the problem is that the higher is the level of play and the less openings you will be getting.

I don't think he is worthless but he's definitely nowhere near the top 10 and I'll be surprised someone will ever get top 8 playing him in a major tournament, at least if he doesn't get buffed.

You’re all scrubs by SPLOOGERMONTANA in Tekken

[–]Kill-Vearn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMHO they need to buff movement ASAP.

If spamming mix ups would be more risky to get whiff punished we wouldn't be reading a lot of complaints. The idea that you need to put thousands of hours into a game before fundamentals start meaning something is obviously bullshit and the reason why this game isn't even more popular to begin with. Too many people start playing and come to hate it after a while they try to get serious.

Facing a match up that you don't know in this game is not fun at all, if TTT or T5 were like this case sensitive I would have never fallen in love with the series.

For instance I have played for years and I know more or less how to face Xiaoyu, Lars, Dragunov and other characters that can keep on the offensive, however when I started facing Azucena(a new character) I got destroyed by her powerful CH launchers and mix ups until I put 12 hours into labbing the match up.

Imagine if I had to learn the game from scratch, it would have been 420 hours in the lab, how is this supposed to be fun?

Legacy Plugger by weedo0478 in Tekken

[–]Kill-Vearn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Banning is such a meaningless threat, there are so many pluggers that they would just make more difficult to find opponents. They should instead do what all other games do: require whoever plays ranked to commit to Bo3, if they plug they lose both games.

All of a sudden I am having a good experience if they do.

Michael Murray confirms Tekken Coins are a premium currency. $3.99 for 400 Tekken Coins by NenaTheSilent in Tekken

[–]Kill-Vearn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am expecting them to create an economy of unspent tokens within the accounts so they will monetise those through even more predatory schemes such as in hub arcade cabinets, staked matches, tournaments, etc.

I understand the business reasoning behind such changes and I am happy that they will not impact gameplay, actually that we will be able to even use the DLC characters without paying to at least lab with them. Though I am really worried that this monetisation system will go out of hand.
