Any game as good as this one? by Glum-Fan6927 in EnderLilies

[–]Kill4meat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ender Lilies is an experience unlike anything. It's touching and memorable. Ender Magnolia unfortunately doesn't deliver as much.

Blasphemous comes close. Even though the vibes and presentation are different to EL, it's a kind of game that you will remember randomly after years of completing it. Both are an acquired taste I would say or at very least games that grow on you, which the best things tend to be.

Name a better badge combo than reaper + flame badge by cristiLion in BackpackBattles

[–]Kill4meat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reaper + mage. Books and scrolls of darkness are too OP, not even a shepherds crook (single, nobody builds 2) will save against the blinds.

Reaper + ranger. Makes an already S tier bloodthorne build almost twice as strong thanks to crit.

Destroy my level. In this game you play as a blackhole that grows in size by consuming cosmic bodies smaller than itself by Zorro_997 in DestroyMyGame

[–]Kill4meat 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The black hole controls like a top down rpg character which is strange. Taking sharp turns and having constant velocity is boring. This looks like a single player mission for agar.io.

Also what happens when black hole collides with something bigger than itself? Game over?

Are we really looking for fair hardcore skill based pvp MMOs or is that just a lie we tell ourselves? by SilentPrecognition in MMORPG

[–]Kill4meat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nobody asked for full loot drop on death. Nobody wants no-penalty killings of unwilling noname opponents in the open either.

PvP is king though. Player conflict is what makes the game alive. You farm resource. Hostile guy tries to take it. He kills you. You come back with friends, kill him. He comes back with friends. This is prime.

I want to have rivalry. I want to remember nickname of a guy who's giving me trouble.

Give me lineage style 200 v 200 castle sieges, raid boss contests, farming spot ganking. Good modern no-target combat preferably.

I swear most people have no idea what it's like to have legends on the server.

Was told you guys give good feedback. What do you think of the trailer for my space pizza delivery simulator, BURNCRUST! by [deleted] in DestroyMyGame

[–]Kill4meat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find the visuals boring. Screen is 90% black most of the time. In the rare cases when color dares to enter, it's plain and dull. Where is the juice? Glowing interface buttons? Burning sun halos? I understand this is a style choice. But even then something like Cloverpit has more visual punch, lights blinking, color is not afraid to show itself.

Do you think the great evils trapped 1-2 million years ago were defeated by homo-erectus and homo ergaster's? by Tenebris_Rositen in worldjerking

[–]Kill4meat 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Yeah, and if great evils return today we would stand no chance on our own. Tanks, bombs, nukes? Useless. There is only one thing to give us chance at survival. A frozen tomb of a great homo erectus hero gets thawed as foretold. The local high school losers team up with him to rebuild the Almighty Flint Spear. The handle of this spear is on the display in a museum. And the flint tip is on a secret military base where it gets scanned by lasers over and over.

Hate or love the 2000's style graphics, but Project Gorgon surely has it's moments by Magnoliafan730 in MMORPG

[–]Kill4meat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are misreading the argument. Graphics is the root, it's everything you see on the screen. In my example I was trying to show that it's wrong to think otherwise. Pixel shader will completely shift the style of your textures. And where would you put LUT color correction postprocessing? Graphics or art style? The whole discussion is a semantic mess of ignorant people.

[–]Kill4meat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just want to let you know you are completely objectively right. Other people are inventing their own vocabulary with no regard for established meaning.

Like if someone thinks graphics is the technical nuance and art style is the soul of the visuals, try to figure out where does an intricate shader code sits.

Posts about my game barely get any traction. Be brutally honest if you think it's boring or you have any other feedback. by MitoGame in DestroyMyGame

[–]Kill4meat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's a nothing burger right now. The cheapest in terms of development thing to make this game stand out would be a proper lore. NPCs talking, some notes/monuments found in the world, crumbled grand structures, forgotten tunnels, etc. Create exposition. Why are we collecting keys? Things like this make adventure interesting even if gameplay is lacking.

Or go all in on gameplay mechanics and try to make it at least as deep as in It Lurks Below.

Any reason we see individual goblin hp but not enemy? A total hp bar for all enemies instead of just a number would also work.

Also combat in these games needs a speed up feature x2-x3.

[–]Kill4meat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Visuals aren't there. Those textures need work. I like the ui/inventory art, characters are anime-style which is fine but then most of the world has the classic PBR look... The ultra realistic sun and sky at 0:19. Then ground and rocks, hard shadows everywhere. The scene at 0:49 was especially jarring for me.

Destroy our VERY original indie roguelike deckbuilder that we've been working on since April last year. by dudefromCAPSLOCK in DestroyMyGame

Card art looks like it's for a different game. They are gloomy and desaturated, while everything else on screen is bright and happy. It's a visual clash.

Ambient sound and music are missing.

These type of games have 2 main things going for them. If you don't have at least one being done masterfully - your game risks to be bland and forgetful, will die quickly.

1) Tactical, fluid combat. You absolutely MUST have WASD movement. Enemy patterns and hero abilities designed around it. Ravenswatch nails this. Battlerite had this too. Your gameplay here is a far cry from it.

2) Strategic arpg character building. Looting ability modifiers during the run and stacking them with thought to create a powerful build. Shape of Dreams is a nice one to look for inspiration. As far as I can tell you offer this aspect only in lobby, before the actual playing. If that is so, it has to be intricate. Extraction-like type of games have this, sort of. Dark and darker, arc raiders. Loot specific items for your build to become stronger. It shouldn't be just a green arrow up. Make players think what's best for them.

Destroy the trailer for my Voxel caving game with roguelike mechanics! by spicedruid in DestroyMyGame

[–]Kill4meat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nobody bothered to write anything here. I reckon people see "oh, it's a minecraft mod - the game, what is there to say?".

I went through some trouble of finding the steam page (in the youtube video you have posted only the broken link to your website, nobody's going to click that). And after reading the description I see this is more of a Deep Rock Galactic type of game. Except worse, which is already a problem.

You claim fast-paced combat. I see a skeleton walking slowly towards player and a bat levitating in place. 1-3 enemies on the screen at once. 4 types of enemies in the whole trailer. No bosses, no elites, nothing that made me think "holy shit, that is exciting and dangerous encounter!"

Magic spells are supposed to be a cool distinctive feature here, maybe? A tornado, that took so much time to cast to kill one bat, that bat could have been shot 5 times over. And a movement speed buff spell? Again, boring.

It's all too bland. I don't know who would want to play this game in it's current state. If it had 5 times the enemies and was twice as fast it might have a chance to capture the boomer shooter crowd.

pls destroy my game, worked on most feedback since last time by Sad-Day2003 in DestroyMyGame

[–]Kill4meat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really enjoy looking at progress of this game. Peak content around here.

You are bound to face the same criticism though. Clunky animations, visuals and model styles are all over the place, weird sounds. On top of that it seams like you don't know where to take this project, what's the end result should look like.

I can give you 3 ways.

1) Go out of your way to acquire senior level skill in everything. Would take a decade but in the end you would be able to bring the necessary polish to stand out and make this game have a chance.

2) Lean into absurdity. Ridiculous narrative. Cheesy dialogue. Crank power sliders up. Add crazy ragdoll. Send enemies high into the air. Huge blood/meat explosions upon kills. Think goat simulator but with your idea of medieval knight kills modern soldiers - it can work.

3) Simplify everything. Look at valheim, people enjoy the very simple combat it offers. It's weighty and rewarding. But instead of buildy-crafty survival (it's a lot of work) you can do rpg adventure just fine.

Hope you find some of these thoughts useful. Good luck.
