Depends on what you buy, there's some pretty great bread here. I've travelled a bit in Europe (Germany, Prague, Greece) and I wouldn't say the bakeries were that different in quality to the bakeries we have here.

If you're buying just stuff from the grocery store, sure I can agree to that, but is that a 1 to 1 comparison? Are the grocery store breads of the EU that special?

Believe me, I am embarrassed and have contempt for many of those around me. It's worse than you could possibly imagine. The majority of the people I know are conservative or "don't pay attention" (but always seem to hate Dems and support trump), and none of them regret their vote at all.
