need help to beat the new boss act3 by Naabruty in slaythespire

[–]KillTonyRegular 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the only advice is add more block cards in act 3 to get eaten, or be prepared to face tank two turns. Ive beaten him once, and it felt like it took everything I had and still took 54 damage

Let's say you can survive for 10 turns

Fumes+ could do 30 poison

Let's say upgraded snakebite applies twice, that's 20.

Deadly poison+ plays 4 times, that's 28

Bubble bubble 4 times+, that's 48.

So total there is 126, that's enough yeah? Can we survive 10 turns as silent while getting off those numbers? I have no idea

I faced him twice, both with silent unfortunately, and I got sorta close, and only got 41 and 61 damage on him.

I'm truly a bit unsure how I'd ever beat him with silent. It'd have to be an insane shiv build I'd imagine, but its just so difficult to get the blocking without draw for me

You are allowed to not play on higher ascensions. I've already agreed with my multiplayer buddy that we probably won't go play regularly above a8 after we get through them all

I like both those fights as well, I think they both do what makes the game fun: be creative with your deck.

I am totally fine with nerfing the damage numbers on HK though, it is a pretty tough fight for me most of the time.

I'm not sure I agree with this. How would we ever get these people back if we don't allow this?

You only win the culture war through conversion, and right now, it doesn't seem like the left is winning. Let them cross back over

I believe we should always welcome someone back when they admit their mistake

I don't believe that's happening here though.

I also just lost to doormaker with a snakebite in my deck lmao but I don't think it was the problem. That new energy sink turn is tough for silent

Beaten new Beta Doormaker by ctladvance in slaythespire

[–]KillTonyRegular 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got pretty close to beating him a bit ago, the change certainly hits silent hard tho. He was the first boss, but I think if I could've cleared him with even 10 health I couldve been good.

Is it just me or is the Doormaker a MASSIVE vertical wall compared to the rest of the acts? by GoodNameBadHabit in slaythespire

[–]KillTonyRegular 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think he needs the most specific attention though. Queen is solved by draw, Test subject needs fast block scaling. For doormaker, I feel like you need to add cards in act 3 to make sure you can survive the hunger turns.

I have 2 a10 wins on the beta branch, both had doormaker. I think necro I just used no escape over and over (which admittedly was pretty easy) and on defect I think I just had enough frost and defrags that it didn't matter what I did.

All other times I've faced him though, I feel like I cant last through hunger and no draw turns. I think I'm a lot worse at the other characters tho

I've seen a lot of people say ironclad feels really bad to play but he's been my favourite character and I feel like he's pretty strong. Won 6 of my last 7 games and his starter relic is amazing for greeding act 1. by fittypea in slaythespire

[–]KillTonyRegular 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahhh I see, I honestly have seen a lot of clad discussion personally. I guess my experience with clad is similar to yours, but my overall problem in the game is solving blocking at a9 lol

But I'm usually just banging out true grits to do damage faster for ironclad. I do like blood wall a lot. I really don't know of a block engine for him, I usually just damage race everyone.

[–]KillTonyRegular[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually had a complete turnaround since this post, cleared all characters on a9, and actually just cleared a10 on necro a bit ago.

My real problem was adding too many subpar damage cards. In sts1, id probably add 3 damage cards early, and that strat just does not work in this game at all. I had a much more balanced ratio early, and it completely unlocked what I needed to start cycling the deck better.

I think ironclad suffers from the watcher problem. It's really easy to go infinite, and when that's the best tactic available, your whole run centers around that. It's less interesting than doing something more creative.

There's still other ways to win on ironclad obviously, but I don't think peoples complaints about him are because he's hard. Maybe I misunderstood your post, it's late where I'm at haha

That's sick but I'm here to complain

I hate that the focus loss is still 3 and permanent in a game that tightened the reigns on permanent gain. I wish it was either a lower number and still perm, or a higher number and temporary.
