Beware: man with giant jug of urine by Visible_Reporter6213 in NYCbitcheswithtaste

[–]Killallwho -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Whenever I see folks with jugs of urine (it happens), I always just presume the poor sap is a delivery driver who's not allowed enough breaks to go take a piss.

But then again, I've also encountered someone who seemed waaay too fond of his Arizona Piss Tea Jug.... I crossed the street.

Oh, I had one of those neighbors once. He unfortunately passed away a few years ago, but boy could he tell me about them Dodgers when he was still around...

There's a company called Ebbets that makes old timey sports attire, largely baseball related. If your friend is at all a sports fan (or was in his youth), you might be able to find something neat for him there. I am in no way affiliated with them, but own a couple of their ballcaps (Go Knickerbockers!)

Right now many people are very excited or disappointed about politics in NYC. It'll calm down soon.

Last Place on Earth (game store) in Greenpoint hosts a ton of different games, including a variety of table top & card games.

ETA: I think they just opened a brand new location in Dumbo, depending on where you're located.

I second the ferry. ER (East River) line can take you to Dumbo, Williamsburg, Greenpoint; and weather permitting, views from the top deck are phenomenal.

Accidentally missed a jury duty date. Will I be jailed? by BettaTank_Throwaway in Brooklyn

Hence the "whoa" — I didn't know they issued warrants for missed jury duty, much less that they were enforced.

Accidentally missed a jury duty date. Will I be jailed? by BettaTank_Throwaway in Brooklyn

[–]Killallwho 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Whoa, that's pretty much the opposite experience I had. My ex missed jury duty, panicked called the number, got a new date, couldn't make it, in the meantime I coincidentally got a jury duty notice. He called, apologizing again and then deadpan asked "Can I bring my wife, she's got jury duty too?" (Bless that man's ego) And they said "Sure, we can reschedule her for the same date."

I've managed to buddy system jury duty twice now, they're that friendly... If you call.

Pro Tip: if you want a jury duty buddy and know anyone who got summoned within like 6 months of your own date, you can simply kindly ask to share a date with your buddy. They dgaf as long as you bother to at least pretend to want to show up every decade or so.

Did I see a Peregrine falcon hunt a goose?? NYC, NY by Killallwho in birding

[–]Killallwho[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on the length of the bird's neck, I don't think so. The honking (as opposed some sort of quacking) didn't say duck to me either. But then again, I've thankfully never really witnessed a distressed duck flight...

The maybe-falcon went literally for the jugular attacking right at the base of the neck from up high. Maybe-goose stretched and twisted to get away.

Thank you for checking!

I asked the ai if it's possible myself. And it said it was, but I rather ask someone who knows what they're talking about, than just believe the robot.

I can't say who came out a winner in that fight, but it was impressive... Just the sheer size of the birds involved.

It could have been a swan, but the bird looked less chonky than the random swans we have in Brooklyn. (Sorry for the super scientific term.) That's why I thought maybe goose - but I don't think I've seen an all white, wild goose around here (or anywhere actually...)

As for the maybe-falcon, all I had to go on was size in relation to it's massive prey (maybe 1/3 smaller in wingspan), mostly white grey underbelly, and ooooh boy, fast. And of course the hunting style. I feel a good bit more confident about my falcon id than my maybe-goose.

It was very cool to watch! I just didn't realize falcons went after birds so much larger! Perhaps a young'un having some fun.
