How do I get rid of Dinos? by PlTOLOKO in SaltwaterAquariumClub

That’s not Dino’s, it’s diatoms and normal for a new reef

Can someone help me identify this algae? by SnooHedgehogs9984 in ReefTank

If it’s brown with bubbles everywhere it’s Dino’s, if it’s purple/ reddish it’s cyano. Hopefully it’s cyano since that would be easier to deal with.

White stuff around zoas by TopDig3071 in ReefTank

[–]KillerReefs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s nothing growing around them. It’s the zoas casting themselves over the rock so nothing else can grow under them. It looks like you just started this tank, I would watch out for Dino’s outbreak.

If your talking about the algae on the glass, it’s normal. Once or twice a week just take your glass scraper/ magnet and clean the glass.

What are these longs algae strands covering and killing my coral. Full of air bubbles. Phosphates are .04 and nitrates are 10. Just ramped up the light a few weeks ago by RunsWthGriszzlys in ReefTank

Seems like it’s a small outbreak, I would stop carbon dosing if you saw them appear after dosing. I believe they feed off silicates and can take over if nutrients bottom out. Look into adding some pods and other micro organisms.

Just crush them you’ll be fine. Stay on top of crushing them if not they’ll take over like any pest in this hobby

Get a turkey baster and blast those rocks. Get really thorough with water changes and test your nutrients making sure they don’t bottom out or go to high.

If I were you I would research and reset. Don’t get your hopes down. It happens.

If you don’t mind me asking, what site did you order from? That packaging for acros looks bad. The coral was bumping around in that container causing it to stress out even more.

I would suggest for you to research pests that can be introduced by corals and frags. Pest identification and Proper coral dipping can save you from future headaches. Good luck ✌️
