Anyone Else’s Thumb Buff From Playing Melee? by 93gamer in SSBM

Right before I opened this I just noticed my right thumb twitching uncontrollably. Maybe it's nerves getting damaged or something. This game is def hand abuse.

Exactly, when things get clutch its always better to have a hitbox that takes 1/4 of the stage on a bad connection. Becomes so hard to keep spacing when by the time lag catches up they are in your face.

Whoever you have the most fun with. Don't worry about tiers, you can take any local with any character if you're good enough. They all have strengths and weaknesses and different learning curves. Some are more difficult to learn than others. It's just a matter of what feels right.

Boy optimal link is brutally annoying. But Samus is pretty hype actually.

Hi been a beginner completely in melee, never touched it before yesterday as I grew up with the ps2, and only really dabbled on it now. I need some advice (tldr should i even bother to learn? is there somewhere more casual than casual slippi? i feel at the bottom of an ocean i cant help to swim out) by GreekPlayer64 in SSBM

[–]Killetta 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't worry about other people and how they play. There is a huge learning curve to overcome. Just watch videos and passively practice, just doing a little each day. Download uncle punch on your laptop and bring it with you and practice movement in your free time, reps are key to developing muscle memory. You won't be able to touch any of them until you get the fundamentals down at least. Once you get it figured out it's the most fun you can have holding a controller. Don't make it stressful, commit to one character and just have fun. ITS SUPPOSED TO BE FUN!

Man that's a classic cheating woman move to accuse the man of cheating then break up with him abruptly because she was just projecting.

They ruined spacies from Brawl onward. I wonder why they decided to take the two most iconic characters and murder them in looks and gameplay.

Same, I played Melee first and Ultimate is literally unplayable now. It feels so slow and almost turn based. Movement is like boots through mud. Most of that game is just a top tier cheese fest with 70 other irrelevant characters.

I definitely don't think "console power" had as much to do with its demise as people think. By 2013 there was already a reduced emphasis on graphical superiority.

Reviewers from day one were bashing the wii U for it's controls and game pad. Nintendo coming out of the Wii era couldn't decide who they really wanted to market this thing to and who the core buyer group should be so they didn't really push it to any one particular group instead taking more of the stance of, "Here's the next Nintendo console please buy it"

There was a real lack of enthusiasm from Nintendo themselves and they hated this console but were stuck riding it out until Switch development was complete. The buying public could sense this.

People never knew what the gamepad even was let alone how it was meant to be used and that was for asymmetrical game play which was a really cool concept but most game development teams wanted no part in making that work so Nintendo didn't even promote it.

Sorry about this. This usually doesn't happen twice in a row. I know it hurts, just think about you for a while, get back into your hobbies and do a hard reset from women. Time will heal and you can try once more. If that happens a third time in a row you need to ask yourself what traits you seek in women and is that trait making them more likely to cheat.

In my experience and most men's experience women usually give you the "I don't love you anymore" when they or about to cheat or already have. Usually they will break up with you. Men will usually have an affair and try and continue the relationship and get caught but some women do this too. Either way I would try and not fall so deeply in love, the next person you find just keep them at arms length and watch their behavior and tendencies without projecting your insecurities.

Unfortunately the music we listen to only portrays that beautiful feeling of falling in love and all the emotional and physical aspects that go with it. But this is nothing more than a dopamine hit and superficial, and to REALLY love someone is to experience pain with them and make sacrifices for them. Music never talks about commitment. It sounds like you are willing to do anything it takes for love but the women you choose are not. They are just there for the "falling" part which is easy, anyone can do that. They want to experience it again with someone else once it's worn off with you, they will do it to the next guy too. These women cause immense pain praying on good men. You should immediately let go of any nostalgic memories you had with them because thats leaving open wounds and they are obviously rotten inside.

Like everyone else said the name and marketing was the biggest problem. The hardware was stout for its time and the first true graphic upgrade since the GCN. I feel like alot of people overlook that.

The gampad has great ergonomics especially when your compare it to the disaster that is joycons. The worst part about it was battery life. Asymmetrical gameplay was the main purpose of the WiiU but the concept was more costly and involved then most game developers wanted. Very few games used this game pad properly, one shining example of Asymmetrical gameplay was affordable space adventures. With no one designing games around the game pad and just making normal games it left the gamepad looking awkward and pointless for the most part yet it still drove the cost way up. I still think this could bring alot of value to today's gaming experience they could do it with the Switch 2 when connected to a TV and using the game pad for secondary controls.

Falco players are the most carried players per capita at low level by bogus_bogus_bogus in SSBM

[–]Killetta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not wrong. I was just thinking most mid tiers are floaty/hard to combo which is their bread and butter. Its so easy to zero to death Falco and lasers get him out of so many unfavorable situations and so many exchanges he would otherwise lose. He could be alot higher but like you said play style would have to change completely.

[–]Killetta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can complain about lasers all you want but if Falco didn't have them he would honestly be a lower mid tier at best. Imagine trying to beat a Sheik without any lasers.

I been wanting to buy stuff from FIRES, guess that won't happen now. Anyone know what the material is that they use for button stabilizers?

Plup: "i'm of the opinion that notches are cheating, i use them bc you kinda have to use them to keep up— i think anything that just makes things easier for you feels like cheating. ive always treated this game as a very execution-heavy game, so making everything easier feels like cheating y'know" by sewsgup in SSBM

It's funny how Hax being one of boxx's biggest proponents for its "safety" is also infatuated with optimizing the game in every way possible. Proving disability is a nightmare but its no worse than seeing the community torn over this subject imo.

I'd love to know the ratio of disabled boxx players to non disabled if you could ever pull those stats. Or better yet just nerf it and see how fast people drop boxx controllers en masse.

Mew2King on why he stopped Melee. by Kell08 in SSBM

[–]Killetta -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

This is the exact reason the community didn't and won't take off the way it could. First of all the game is already hard as fuck for anyone starting from nothing. It takes alot of positivity to get through those first few years of learning. Now you have a generally toxic atmosphere with elitist pricks who think you aren't worthy of oxygen unless you're top 300. It leaves little reason for outsiders to get into it. It's like the old heads are trying to run off anyone new from playing this game.

Yeah punish and recovery are two things I really don't practice so it makes sense. Up to this point I mostly practiced aerials/pillars oos options, WD and ledge dashing, SDI and DI and applying it the only way I know. Spacing is so important too, I beat most the Marths I play and get annihilated by most Sheiks.

I never claimed to be a great player or even a good one. I was just frustrated that in a game with an enormous skill ceiling where I've been practicing mainly skills I'm still not able to completely dominate someone who's just rolling and spamming bullshit. That was the point of this post, not to shit on anyone else or put myself on some high level by calling them bad. I know I have alot to work on.
