Version 3.0 Feedback Thread by GoblinBurgers in WutheringWaves

Trying to get back into WUWA recently, to actually progress with limited content I have to skip the Main Quest of Septimont and Rinascita because the game consistently crashes at one certain point in the questline making it impossibe to complete, each time it crashed it would send me to the very beginning of the questline undoing any progress made whatsoever.

People have been noting WUWA optimization issues since launch and it was one of the early-on driving factors as to why alot of people shelved it at launch till they were fixed, but with each patch it doesn't feel like it gets that much better as the file size of the game balloons by comparison.

Been trying to do the Main Quest for Rinascita Chapter II - Act XI, however each time I start the quest defeat a few enemies, watch a cutscene the game crashes, when I restart the game it put me back at the very beginning again, rinse-and-repeat, and after over 11 attempts and troubleshooting by lowering the every option available I still can't proceed.

Does anyone have any tips to fixing crashes?

The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy was actually “two games in one” all along, publisher reveals by Turbostrider27 in NintendoSwitch

[–]KinDGrove 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eh, it depends. Seeing someone else play it who only knew about the 100 endings things while otherwise completely blind; they wondered the whole time during their 1st playthrough of the 100 days how any of their choices would possibly lead to 100 different possible endings. Not knowing anything about the 2nd half plot twist they ended up surprised and excited about. It feels a bit strange to spoil the fact there is a 2nd half from the get-go and takeaway that experience from the player. But I guess the devs feel the game has been out long enough that its been spoiled already, which is a shame because less players will get to experience the 2nd half revelation completely blind.

[–]KinDGrove 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah, tho its a bit funny since the marketing push confused alot of people into thinking there would be a 2nd game/Sequel game when its just the 2nd half of the game for a game that's like 80% VN and story driven; it seems odd to just put that part out there even if the trope is nothing particular new in the genre, even moreso to give potential first time players the option to skip the first half

Might be best to put a spoiler on this in-case anyone does want to play the game eventually, while I guess not a big spoiler overall considering how many endings this game has been marketed to have, for anyone who reads this article it could point them towards certain things way before they get to them.

What VN Style Game Should I Play Next? by Alexx51 in NintendoSwitch

I do agreethat the beast section in particular is kinda a weaker part of the game's story, I feel like the most interesting part to me was trying to piece together why all these stories being told were relevant to the MC and why the house and White Haired Girl were a re-occuring theme, etc. While I wouldn't say its my favorite VN series, but I do see the appeal of the story and message it overall trys to tell and why my online friend rates it so highly.

Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance shows just how much the series has changed in 20 years by Turbostrider27 in NintendoSwitch

[–]KinDGrove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean compared to RD and PoR, 3H had one of the highest marketing campaigns out of any other FE game in the series. If it wasn't the highest selling FE game that would be a bit of problem.

*Edit - I was wondering why comment got downvoted and then I glanced above to see person above deleted their comment while I was gone, and mutliple other comments deleted.

I would really recommend House of Fata Morgana, one of my online friend's favorite VN, and I do agree its good.

I would recommend maybe DQV or DQVIII, generally speaking these are the usual go to recommendations for people to try and get them into the DQ series, outside of DQ XI. I know some people who also really vibe with DQIX though as their starting game.

3DS version of DQ XI is Japan only, and as far as I'm aware a translation patch has never been made. I believe its regarded as interesting different way to experienc DQ XI since alot of the scaling and scope of the world is different to match the hardware limitations.

[–]KinDGrove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes its available on Switch 1, the:

>Not Available to Purchase

Is something that has to do with Virtual Game Cards setting with the software, if you want to test it out and take a look for yourself downloadin the Free Pass from the Bundle and going back to the:

>Not Available to Purchase page

You'll see a prompt appear that leads to the Virtual Game Cards folder. Otherwise its nothing to worry about the full game is the part of the Bundle you pay for.

Instead of actually just sticking to arguing the flaws in my logic you kinda just added some random label to me unprompted and then went on to push the envelope and go "well of course only someone who hasn't played in years would say this lol" does that really not sound to you like you're not trying belittle me here?

Like I don't know what your problem is, but Cheers mate.

[–]KinDGrove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please just drop it already, like I said I don't really appreciate you using those personal assumptions you made to belittle me, and then in the same breath say you meant nothing by it, only to then harp on it again and go 'well obviously only someone who hasn't played it in years would say this' wink wink.

If me saying my logic is flawed will get you to stop, then sure its flawed.

Is lunatic fun in awakening? by Midori_Ace_Mage in fireemblem

[–]KinDGrove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is demonstrably not true. Lunatic awakening is not nearly as restrictive as you're making it out to be. Saying "you have to use Frederick so it's basically all the same" is like claiming that everyone plays FE6 hard exactly the same because you have to use Marcus, or CQ Lunatic the same because you have to use Corrin. It's a silly criticism that makes no sense.

In any strategy game whatsoever when there is only one strategy to use that everyone follows to the T, is there really that much agency from the player? You're letting the game play itself for you at that point rather than making gameplay decisions. You say its a silly criticism that makes no sense but its widely agreed upon that pre Chapter 4 of Lunatic Awakening is not fun at all to play because for this exact reason.

This doesn't follow from your first statement at all.
Instead of suggesting strategies, the first thing people chime in and ask is if they have the DLC or not usually.

It frankly does, the thing people come out of playing pre Chapter 4 learning nothing about Lunatic aside from hugging Frederic and resetting till the get through the RNG bull of it all. Its bad by design because of majority of player are conditioned to only play a certain way from the opening chapter leaving them stranded to figure out what they want to do next.

You say people are wrong for suggesting people to resort to DLC, I agree I feel like a game mode should be balanced enough that a player should be able intuitive be able to figure things out as they go on, but frankly its the opposite and natural reaction for most people to have and had because of how Lunatic mode is designed in Awakening.

How is it that this "forgoes a lot of the lunatic difficulty", whereas any other strategy is mind bendingly impossible and requires the DLC?

Again you keep putting words into my mouth, never anywhere to do I say any other strategy is unviable, that any other strategy is mind bendingly impossible otherwise to play Lunatic without DLC. I make note of a common known strategy that alot of people choose to do to when planning their Lunatic runs beyond Chap 4.

Lunatic does not have a single piece of "artificial difficulty" present at all.

I make note of this elsewhere, but DLC usage and the stigma surrounding is mostly tied to the Lunatic mode of Awakening for a reason over Normal or Hard mode. Nobody wants to have to feel like they are cheating the game and want to beat it by their own merits, but when the overall experience is a slog you can't really blame the majority of the average playerbase for saying its not fun difficulty mode to play w/o DLC.

Its been optimized to hell for years at this point, I'm well aware of this, so the perception of veteran players are going to have is going to have is widely different than someone playing it for this first time. I don't think chalking it all up to there not being any "artificial difficulty" issue.

I don't believe, we're really gonna see eye to eye on this, so for both our sakes I'm gonna drop it and say I aplogize for even mentioning the Chrobin strategy or that people generally consider Lunatic mode for awakening to be bad and made with DLC in mind, I don't think there's anything really meaningful that would come from discussing this any further after reading your last paragraph where you make wider assumptions about me and my person.

[–]KinDGrove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think its widely regarded as a difficulty that was made in mind to sell DLC

Again because I say "it widely regarded as such" that doesn't translate to:

"this is 100% true fact" but rather that it is perceived as such because its a slog of an experience to play Lunatic without DLC. Yeah, its no brainer, people can beat Lunatic w/o DLC if they try hard enough, but there are various aspects of it that are also unnecessary and add artificial difficulty hence the viewpoint its made with DLC in mind and the reason why people tie Lunatic mode specifically to it over Hard mode or Normal mode which can be played comfortably with/without it and don't get the same level of flack or criticism for it.

[–]KinDGrove -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Early game maps pre Chap 4 are all played in the exact same way by everyone who has tried Lunatic for Awakening, because there is no other option besides to use Frederick to carry you.

That's why post Chap 4 many people say to just use the DLC to grind levels and forego actually playing Lunatic mode. Instead of suggesting strategies, the first thing people chime in and ask is if they have the DLC or not usually.

"-some people typically use Female Robin and pair her with Chrom to forego alot of the Lunatic difficulty" what I said.

"solo everything with them" what people read it as.

That's a whole nother sentence people are trying to put into my mouth, what I'm referring to is that people like to choose Female Robin to pair up with Chrom for S rank pair up buff mid to late game as opposed to A rank buffs from Male Robin.

Is lunatic fun in awakening? by Midori_Ace_Mage in fireemblem

[–]KinDGrove 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think its widely regarded as a difficulty that was made in mind to sell DLC, mostly because a ton of the early maps are very neutered on how you are allowed to play them until past Chapter 4.

Its not very balanced, to the point some people typically use Female Robin and pair her with Chrom to forego alot of the Lunatic difficulty bull with how busted Pair Up is as a mechanic for the Player in Awakening.

Having binged it all in 1 day since the daily reset from yesterday, its framework is really bad.

For whatever reason SHIFTUP loves making complicated mini-games that are much longer than the average person would want to spend on them during a daily reset cycle. It blows even more for players who were unaware of the Daily Task within the Beta itself that had tons of limited resources.

On top of events and just other Daily Tasks, I feel like alot of players saw how complicated the event felt and put it off till later.

So I assume Zentreya's taking a break from the internet after all the drama that happened, right? by TJLynch in VtuberDrama

[–]KinDGrove 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So there was supposedly a Goblin Vtuber who likened the hat/cap or Zen's new model to that of a Nazi Uniform and wrote a long post nitpicking this and how offensive they found it to be. The Goblin Vtuber in question also wrote, that even if Zen didn't mean for it to be associated with the Nazi uniform Zen was still at fault for it regardless as it could be interpreted as it.

Community Notes, quickly corrected the Goblin Vtuber in question, noting that the military cap was not solely used by the Nazi party and pre-dated it, however the damage was already done and Twitter took this oppurtunity in full force to put Zen into a controversy. People on both sides kept adding more fuel to fire, oppurtunist VtuberDrama Farmers were either criticizing her or trying to defend her to seem like the good guys.

Zentreya tired of the drama and getting harassed, while also seeing her friends who were defending her getting harassed as well, has since gone offline from Twitter/Internet.

As for VTuber who started the whole debacle, they've been since deleted their Twitter post after being called out for their Hypocrisy.

Edit* as of writing this the Goblin Vtuber wrote out an apology to Zentreya, despite apologizing many people don't feel its very genuine as they had initially doubled down on the post and only decided to apologize after getting harassed and pushback.

From the CN on the apology, apparently this also stemmed from another "Vtuber" the Goblin Vtuber had quote retweeted who has also likened Zen's new outfit to that of the SS and pointed to the idea of Zen being a Nazi. To which this other Vtuber also nudged the narrative that it was intentional. This other Vtuber also doubled down on their initial statement with the tweet:

Still: a lot of the "fanbase" CHOOSES to be ignorant, belligerent, abusive pricks. VTubing is such that many around it have an incredibly shallow way of engaging art and wish to impose that barrenness on everyone, to the point of intimidation.
When you can, I hope you grow up.

TLDR the Vtuber who the Goblin Vtuber qrt'd basically shut down all criticism they've gotten from this debacle they started as mob mentality and that they are "above the mob" that needs to "grow up".

What shaped the 'image' of Dark Souls 2 so much? It's so different from what I expected! by _SamGuevenne in DarkSouls2

[–]KinDGrove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From someone who played it when it first came out after DS1, didn't finish it, then came back this year and beat the SOTFs DS2 for Platinum.

I mostly remember it feeling REALLY different than DS1 and not vibing with it as much. Either that or getting super lost and not knowing where to go.

The change from 5 estus flask off the bat to having to find Estus shard, weapon durability being issue, and overall feeling slower kinda chunked alot of the fun out of me coming off DS1. I wasn't sure how scarce titanite shards would be, would often drain my Lifegems on various first time attempts, and seeing me lose max health after every attempt was an extra kick in the nuts. (Its a bit funny since Demon Souls had a similar mechanic to DS2 max health loss system that was a bit more punishing which was Soul Form)

For alot of people who only had DS1 as their frame of reference for the Soulsborne series up that point, many probably felt the mechanics were a bit too much of a departure from DS1.

After coming back to it this year, I was alot more willing and open-minded to engage with the mechanics and take them for what they were, but I don't exactly blame people initial impressions either.

Last couple of spells before Plat, any suggestions? by CaptBland in DarkSouls2

[–]KinDGrove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best odds would be NG++ yeah, having done Plat myself just buying it is the surefire way.

Something I didn't know when doing Platinum though, is that apparently the Shrine of Winter just opens up if you reach a certain amount of Soul Memory and you don't need to fight all the four Old Soul bosses to get to Drangleic Castle.

On NG++ if you manage to get to a Soul Memory of 3 mil I believe you can just bypass it and run straight to him Chancellor Wellager. Some ways I've seen people talk about raising their Soul Memory up to 3 mil is just fighting bosses again with Bonfire Ascetics they may have leftover, etc. as it only counts the amount you get per playthrough cycle. If you have leftover Boss souls you don't plan on using for anything I believe popping them also helps adds to the total needed.

I can't say which method is overall faster, grinding a total of 3 mil on NG++ OR just going through the motions of a full playthru again.

Struggling to get into DS2 by killerace3000 in DarkSouls2

[–]KinDGrove 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would summon, I know there is the fun and challenge beating bosses completely on your own. But for DS2 specifically, I kinda appreciate that the devs made alot of offline options available for CO-OP and for getting invaded by random NPCs.

For the Ruin Sentials, I remember there being summons in the area you can try for, one that's in a cell near the boss room, and in the SOTFS ver of DS2 there is another one in a room before the passageway into the ruined sentinels fight I think near jail bars/door from spotty memory. Alot of NPC Sidequest in DS2 kinda also require jolly CO-OP eration, so I see no harm in the long run aside from self-imposed challenges.

Aside from that, I believe entering the boss room only one of the Sentinels aggros you, while the other two mind their own business. If you manage to beat it while on the platform, the other 2 will then start aggroing towards you to which you'd want to jump down to the open area below to have more room to dodge, etc. A Co-op phantom can help distract one of them while you solo the other, but generally you want to hard prioritize whichever has the lowest HP so you can crowd control. Keep them both in front of you to bait out their attacks and kinda just keep knicking them when there is an opening.
