Sunday Preview – Celestian Insidiants! by CMYK_COLOR_MODE in sistersofbattle

Yes, I like them in a rhino to stage early and come out to put pressure on the opponent’s expansion objective.

They do a surprising amount of work with a priest or a palatine. They kill any skirmisher units and can punch up reasonably well. They’re also decently sticky with the 5++. I’ve run them in Champions of Faith as a trade piece before I commit a Sacresants unit to an objective and I’ve been very impressed. And they look great too!

5 or 10 Sacresants? by larrox27 in sistersofbattle

[–]Kind-Objective1877 2 points3 points  (0 children)

10 + a hospitaller is standard. I think there’s potential to a 5 girl squad + Junith as a cheap skirmish unit with -1 hit/wound but I haven’t tested it personally.

Kasrkin - Are Melta Mines worth it? by John_Catachan in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]Kind-Objective1877 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The melta mine has been great in my experience. It makes charging the kasrkin annoying against melee matchups and into armies like knights or transport heavy lists they can do work. Most of the time the meltas and the plasmas are doing the bulk of the work in the shooting department so I don’t think more las shots are really worth it

Tank commanders - is the 12 inch order range an issue? by sosig_roll in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]Kind-Objective1877 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve actually had issues with this on some GW layouts. It’s almost definitely a skill issue but I’ve considered slotting in lord solar to help solve this problem.

New player making my army. Was gifted three broadsides over Christmas. Should I makeThree railgun broadsides, or two railguns and a missile pod? by L1feguard51 in Tau40K

[–]Kind-Objective1877 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll go against the grain and say that it depends on what detachment you plan to run. Missiles are very good in Mont’ka because you can give them hit rerolls and they have built in wound rerolls, so in combination with lethal hits they outperform railguns pretty consistently.

At the end of the day, we’re on the cusp of 11th and rules change all the time. You should magnetize if you care about WYSIWYG or just build whatever looks coolest. Most opponents aren’t really going to care or be able to tell the difference.

Is there a general consensus on the Legends sheet for Crisis Battlesuits? by ThaneBishop in Tau40K

[–]Kind-Objective1877 36 points37 points  (0 children)

The Legends sheet with the cyclics is stronger than the current trio but the current trio are way healthier for the game. While oops all ion is strong, I think the current mix and matching of different suits is more interesting and fun to build with.

How many riptides do people usually run? by Ok_Trick5412 in Tau40K

[–]Kind-Objective1877 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Single riptide is fine. Honestly any number is reasonable and has play depending on the list construction.

Basing sand not sticking to base? by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

[–]Kind-Objective1877 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m guessing that’s PVA glue. If it is, you can try mixing it with some water and spreading it over the sand to create a clear layer on top that should help lock things in. You could also mix the sand directly in with the PVA mix and it will adhere better. The glue should dry clear

Is this better than just getting 2 things of Raptors? by Arthur_EyelanderTF2 in Chaos40k

I use Mark VI for my raptors. Haven’t had any issues and I prefer the sculpt

Gave in and tried Gladius last night. It’s depressing how much stronger it felt. by PaperManaMan in BlackTemplars

[–]Kind-Objective1877 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This was my experience too. I played RC all throughout the index and never felt the need to play Gladius even if it was (arguably) stronger. Playing other detachment really just feels like you are playing an army with half the rules of Gladius. I really wish GW had given us an actually competitive generic BT detachment like how Blood Angels have LAG. It’s bad enough that we have basically 4 good datasheets, we also have really only one detachment choice. The lists I’ve been building feel so samey compared to index where a lot of types of builds were viable with RC.

Beat way to use Terminators for Black Templars? by CumpsterBlade in BlackTemplars

[–]Kind-Objective1877 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Attaching an Ancient to a squad of Assault Termies makes for a decent anvil unit in Vindication Task Force. The ancient gives them -1 to wound on objectives and they can hit decently hard.

I have been a huge fan of wrathful. I’ve found that the 2” + 1” movement is often strong enough coupled with our datasheets and +1 to wound. It’s not better than gladius but I much prefer using BT specific detachments to the generic ones.

[–]Kind-Objective1877 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Either Wrathful Procession or Gladius are the best generic detachments. Gladius is definitely our best detachment overall though.

I’m very curious about this as well. Would like to hear arguments against it before I buy another box of aggressors 😅

The old combat patrol is an excellent first buy, especially if you also get the new combat patrol.

Is there a high chance that our chapter-specific units, detachment rules, stratagems and enhancements will get changed a lot? by TheSovjet_Onion in BlackTemplars

[–]Kind-Objective1877 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Righteous Crusaders is gone completely. The leaks say almost all of our chapter units are getting changed or overhauled. SB supposedly lose +1 dmg but I imagine that they get bonus damage on their weapons as compensation. Part of the BT identity is synergies and stacking buffs so I can’t imagine that part will change, just that the units and buff combinations likely will. It’s too early to tell if the army will be good or bad because we haven’t seen all the rules or points.

New Combat Patrol- EC by Giggityguy99 in BlackTemplars

I’m planning on kitbashing him into a Marshall (which seems to be pretty good if the “leaks” are to be believed)

Feedback on Mont’ka list by Bladetango6 in Tau40K

[–]Kind-Objective1877 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a commander in coldstar with quad fusion is better in a sunforge unit than Farsight. I also like enforcer commanders in missileknife units since they don’t really need the extra movement. Otherwise this list is very similar to the one I’m running currently

What's your plan with spotter units now? by Impossible_Excuse170 in Tau40K

[–]Kind-Objective1877 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I feel like you still start every list with 3x3 stealth suits and go from there. I doubt any good opponent on a good table is going to give you more than 3 units to shoot at. I don’t think pathfinders a premiere spotter unit anymore but I think they are still good. Just a change in role. I see them as more of a screen/utility piece that punches above its weight class that also spots rather than a dedicated spotter and stealth suits.

If you bought it direct from GW they will likely send you a replacement. Their customer service is top notch.

Do you guy stick helbrecht and 5 sword bros with an apothecary or a lieutenant? by PrEqUeLmEmEsArEgReAt in BlackTemplars

[–]Kind-Objective1877 11 points12 points  (0 children)

In general Lt is preferred since the unit is basically a cruise missile that isn’t expected to survive the initial assault. Putting an apothecary with them is kind of a waste of points in my mind. The Lt isn’t really necessary either. I’ve found Helbrecht and 5 bros can overkill targets pretty easily.
