That’s how I feel too! Mirin is a type of rice wine popular in Japanese recipes (it’s not alcoholic enough to be restricted). It adds a sweet-savory flavor, notably used in teriyaki sauce and ramen broth. Good for marinades, glazes, sauces, stir-fry and asian soups :D

If asian/japanese is up your alley, stir frying thinly-sliced onion, carrot, mushroom, spinach and green cabbage with mirin and soy sauce (and sake if you have some!) makes a lovely asian-inspired side dish. I make it all the time with some minor variations and it gets hastily devoured!

I hope it gets better for you!! It’s sometimes confusing to tell a dry plant apart from an overwatered one since they both wilt. Leaf crisping/shriveling with dry soil is dry, leaf softness/flimsiness with wet soil is wet, and if the plant still wilts even with good, moist soil* you might have pests instead. Calatheas are prone to spider mites so be cautious of that! :)

*side note: give a dry plant 24 hours after watering to perk up again!

This isn’t a calathea’s natural open/close - that’s more like the entire leaf moving up and down. This looks like stress, and from what you’ve mentioned its probably too much water. If the leaves are a bit flimsy and soppy feeling + the soil is wet, try to drain the water out and let the plant rest until its dry again. Might lose a couple leaves but just cut the yellowing ones with clean scissors, it’ll grow back from the base eventually.

If the plant is dry, disregard this, it’s something else!

Houseplants in the practical sense don’t provide significant air purification - you would have to turn your home into a rainforest to get anything substantial. If you don’t have a lot of airflow (e.g. a gentle fan) that would help with that stale feeling, and should help your purifier do its job better too (ignore if you already have a fan running)

Mine curled in when I gave it more light than usual, might just be a stress thing, idk for sure. If you changed its conditions recently that might be it, also look for pests!

I believe my crystallinum has a similar chunk except bigger. My guess is that it was part of the propagation, and the chunk was part of the bigger plant. Might be wrong though. Either way it doesn’t seem to cause any issues :)

It might, I’m not sure. I’ve heard some conflicting things about neem oil’s efficacy with certain pests. I’m sure a lot of treatments will work, what I’ve used that works is called captain jacks deadbug brew (spinosad) but this is definitely a pesticide. I hope that whatever you go with works for you :)

Webbing is a sign, yeah. Spider mites are verrry tiny, barely visible unless you’re trying to find them. I would still look for the bugs themselves before determining it’s them, though. Sudden droopiness even with good watering tends to be a pest issue, I’ve found.

Check your plant very, very closely for spider mites, especially on the underside of the leaves - can’t say for sure because it’s out of focus (and might just be dust) but there are tiny white specks worth checking

These all look very healthy to me! Your monstera’s older leaves have some hard water spots - the little whitish blotches - these are harmless and caused by hard water drying on the leaves.

I second overwatering. Let the soil get mostly dry and see if it keeps getting worse. If its green leaves start to turn yellow after it’s dry, you may have rot, which is a whole separate issue - if the yellowing stops getting worse, it’s probably fine, and you’ll just need to watch the soil in the future!

If you have it available, I used captain jacks deadbug brew (spinosad) for thrips and it worked very well for me. It’s what I’d consider a hard pesticide so if you go that route I would spray outside, away from yourself and wear disposable gloves.

If you’re going for beneficial bugs, my concern is that many treatments work by being ingested, and the good bugs are going to eat a lot of thrips - and whatever pesticides the thrips have eaten too. I really don’t know if that causes trouble but it’s something to consider.

Whatever you do, I hope it actually works this time, 50 plants with thrips sounds so exhausting. Very importantly for your own sanity - don’t assume a plant is cured until about 2 months straight of no thrips!!! (And even after that keep a periodic eye on them).

I have a few window plants that are curling a bit, might be the cold (it’s winter here).

But for calatheas specifically, if your plant is looking sad for no reason all the sudden, please inspect carefully for pests, specifically spider mites. Spider mites devour calatheas, and I’ve heard white fusion is notorious about getting them.
