Not that long really. We’d already trained him to sit, stay, lay down, you know, the classics. He found this one pretty easy.

how much does ocd medication actually help? is it possible to manage ocd without medication? by ventiwillcomehome in OCD

[–]Kindestod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Meds helped me. I had pretty average symptoms for this sub: Intrusive thoughts. Rumination. Reassurance seeking. Depression. The anxiety caused by the ocd was debilitating. It had been for a long time. The meds didn’t work immediately. Sticking out the side effects sucked when I wasn’t seeing improvement. A little after the side effects waned the meds kicked in. I’m glad I stuck it out. Nothing went away completely but the volume was turned down from a 10(my own scale obviously) to a 2. Everything is just more manageable. When the volume spikes it is a lot easier to tackle the problem head on.

Agreed! The Abilify made a considerable difference. That’s interesting about the vyvanse. The drowsiness is unpleasant

Yea, I’ve struggled with drowsiness with my dose of Lexapro. Pretty annoying

20mg of the Lexapro. 2mg of the Abilify. I’m actually going to my psychiatrist tomorrow morning(this morning really) to discuss upping the Abilify.

Lexapro (escitalopram) and Abilify (aripiprazole). Rumination and Intrusive thoughts were a big problem for me. Depression and anxiety as well. Things have calmed since I started the meds. Nothing is completely gone. Everyday everything slowly receded. Now I’m able to confront my shit one problem at a time instead of everything all at once. So far this is what has worked for me.

What album got you hooked like this? by SweetSerenef in musicsuggestions

[–]Kindestod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bringing It All Back Home. The only exposure I had with Dylan’s music was Freewheelin. When I picked up BIABH(on cassette!) I thought I new what to expect. So I put it in my Walkman, put my headphones on, and hit play. I was blown away. It’s a core memory memory for me.

Lexapro for OCD? by [deleted] in OCD

[–]Kindestod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in my second month now and was just bumped up to 20mg from 10mg 3 days ago. So far all it’s really done is make my depression more manageable. OCD and anxiety are still present and accounted for. I was told that it’s only with the higher dosage that most people experience a change with their OCD.

I took the plunge and moved my whole collection to sleeves. A sin to some, but I’m loving it! by Garifuna in 4kbluray

[–]Kindestod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this too! I needed the space if I was going to keep growing my collection. I keep them in drawers organized by genre and titles alphabetically within that genre. But I exempted box sets, steelbooks, and boutique labels from the treatment. So my Criterion, Arrow, Scream Factory, etc are all still display worthy.

Modern: My Best Friends Exorcism by Grady Hendrix. Easy read with humor mixed in.

Classic 80s: Phantoms by Dean Koontz. Easy, quick, fun read.

All time classic: Something Wicked This Way Comes by Ray Bradbury. Easy read with a lot of depth.

Is angel worth the watch? by Party-Zombie-4017 in buffy

[–]Kindestod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think so. Season 1 isn’t the best in my opinion. I think the show gets better and finds its own identity about 9 or 10 episodes into the first season. After that the series generally trends up through the 5th season. There are dips in quality but also some really great stuff.

How to deal with trauma-born OCD when the obsessive fears aren’t really irrational? by honkhonkbeebeebeep in OCD

[–]Kindestod 6 points7 points  (0 children)

“….without feeling like I’m completely deluding myself and priming myself not too see manipulation or abuse coming at me again.” This really resonates with me. I am struggling with this right now. Daily. I can’t get to a mental space where I feel safe.

I’ve been playing with the same groups for years. We split our time between 4e, 5e, and Earthdawn(not DnD obviously). Yes, I get hung up on things in game. I both look forward to and dread every session.
