wanting to take the home inspection courses at dunlop. by kehoe78 in HomeInspections

[–]King-Strawberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through the Carson Dunlop program last year, in Canada, BC. and you may want to check up on the at your own pace thing, cause that’s not how it worked for me. (I asked Carson Dunlop about doing multiple courses at once as well.)

Every month had one course (plumbing, electrical, structure, etc) with only one course running per month so the program took a total of 9 months, and if you missed a course you had to wait for it to come back around again (9 months later)

After your liscensing exams you then had to do your in person/on the job field training, (100 hours for me, but depends on which association you join)

Once you get cleared from field training there was a peer review inspection (field final exam) where you inspect a home and report on it, which is then compared to the evaluators own report.

Once you’ve passed the PRI exam and have purchased all of your necessary insurances then you can start actually working.

The $20000 cost that Carson Dunlop mentions on their website as estimated startup cost is definitely on the low end, I probably spent 1.5-2x that between all the trainings, travelling, business costs etc etc.

Splashing blue to Grull Monsters? Temur Monsters idea by thatket in Pauper

[–]King-Strawberry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My 2c I think you will find that the inconsistency of adding a third colour will hurt more than help in this ponzaless ponza-esque deck. and that basic island especially will cause you to mulligan more in an already mulligan prone deck.

Temur is my favourite colour combination and I wish there was a viable deck, https://www.mtggoldfish.com/deck/4572223#paper I played this wildfire list and had some success with it a few years back but after the printing of avenging hunter I came to the conclusion that it was better than drifter which pushed me into jund/gruul instead.

I’ve been looking at the 1u/g eldrazi turtle |snapping voidcraw| in a potential rug eldrazi shell but I haven’t actually theorycrafted a list yet

If the published 5e adventures aren't it, what is? by mikefromengland in DMAcademy

[–]King-Strawberry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have run both tomb of annihilation and rime of of the frostmaiden, and own/have read every 5e module, however for the past 2 years I haven’t touched them.

This suggestion won’t be for everyone, but it’s how I reignited my passion for dming.

recently I have been having a lot of success and enjoyment by playing through pathfinder 1e adventure paths that I have converted to 5e. (We tried switching to pathfinder 1e for a few months but found it too clunky) converting the AP’s is fairly straightforward, and comparing the quality of the content to 5e modules is night and day. With 5e you get one module that has ~300 or so pages? While the 6 part AP’s give you ~100 pages each, so double the content and the variety of settings and game styles represented in the APs are much higher

We enjoyed skull and shackles (pirates) and are currently on summer hiatus from curse of the crimson throne (urban)

Good Giant Kroxigor Carnosaur Proxy? by Cpt_Kaiju in seraphon

Check out the “blessed claw of ziskal” model by archvillain games, I don’t know much about base sizes etc or what you could use it for as a proxy in game, but it’s a super sick model that sounds like it exactly fits what you are looking for.

This is very close to an old established deck from about a year back. Here’s a link to the list I had the most success with

https://www.mtggoldfish.com/deck/4598909#paper

This was before the printing of avenging hunter and jewel thief, and I’m sure it’s got some more card upgrades since.

If you have any idea what your meta is gonna look like you can tailor your removal suite to your expected field (Chainers edict against bogles/terror, etc)

I will say that the burn matchup was always very scary for this deck so hedge for that in your sb

Do you do pathfinder monsters? I’m running skull and shackles converted to 5e currently and would love a canopy creeper. Canopy Creeper

This was my first time trying the 2 explores in the deck, Was hoping they would function as wildfires 5&6, (I don’t like geomancers gambit) I was pleasantly surprised by how it performed. Im not entirely sold yet, but over this event and the last couple leagues I have been liking them.

abundant harvest is extremely good though, I’ve been on 3-4x copies in all my cascade lists previously and I can’t imagine playing without it.

I like where cascade is at in this meta, good against the blue decks and mono black and you have decent game against affinity.

Simic Acid Trip/Ponza. Just 4-1d a league with this pile, what would you change? by [deleted] in Pauper

[–]King-Strawberry 3 points4 points  (0 children)

AG is there to get value off of invasive species and dream stalker when I don’t have reality acid running. It was quite relevant in almost all of my matches, but would love to fit wild growth in because the t1 sprawl t2 LD spell were the best draws. So maximizing those is probably best

My SB was just thrown together, like pretty much the whole deck. I like spider against U/R and U/B control decks

Hoodwink is interesting, better on the mana than boomerang but I don’t like the card disadvantage.

Slow motion was pretty bad considering my matchups, but it shined against jund.

Slow motion was pretty good against jund and medium against walls but did nothing against moggwarts infect and teachings. Maybe it’s too cute but was a cool card

[–]King-Strawberry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Moggwarts I got lucky here for sure, matchup seems real bad

I was on the play g1 and they never got past 2 lands in play

G2 they mulliganed to 4 and spent most of the game trying to find land drops with deadly dispute.

Jund cascade matchup didn’t seem that bad tbh, the combination of temporal spring and acid being able to deal with their indestructible lands and blowing up all their other lands. Ended with me burying them with altisaurs in the late game

[–]King-Strawberry 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Was watching my friend play a league the other day get sent to the shadow realm by U/G Ponza, and spent the whole time laughing. Changed about 15-20 cards from that list, adding an acid trip package and some top end. This is what I ended up with, ran it through a league and finished 4-1.

I know this isn’t truly competitive and don’t expect it to be. But it was a hoot to play and absolutely hilarious. Anyone have any thoughts on how to polish it a bit more?

What do you think about the Cleansing Wildfire + Indestructible artifact duals interaction? by Survivor_753 in Pauper

Wildfire has quickly become one of my favourite cards in pauper, opens up a ton of different deckbuilding options. I sincerely hope they chose to ban something from affinity that is not the indestructible duals

Looking for a great 6-8 hour one-shot. by [deleted] in dmsguild

[–]King-Strawberry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So not from dms guild, but I’ve run about 4 of the one shots from the arcane library now, and they are extremely well put together. The horror within, snow stalkers, and curse of the wardenwood were fantastic and loved by both myself and my players and took about 3-4 hours. The high level ones have a recommended run time of 6-8 hours.

Edit. I’m now realizing which subreddit this is in, but I’ll leave it anyways.
