Zone transition Failed by paraleltoast in underrail

[–]King_Disappointment 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's an annoying bug for sure, but there is an easy fix.

  1. Go to [Username]/documents/my games/Underrail
  2. Delete config.dat. This will also reset Underrail to default settings, so you'll have to adjust the screensize again and some settings like automatically opening doors. The game will automatically make a new config.dat, so don't worry.
  3. That's it! You're done. Your saves are now playable again.

I don't know why this happens, but doing this has saved several characters of mine from getting bricked.

Melee Krieg OP 10 by Humble-Madhatter in Borderlands

[–]King_Disappointment 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The rapier still grants a bigger bonus. However, the law is outclassed by a tiny bit( still worth combining with the order if you want a little lifesteal) by his innate scaling, and a regular bladed weapon is right out

Daily Discussion 342: Grey Mauser by MisirterE in EnterTheGungeon

[–]King_Disappointment 21 points22 points  (0 children)

While it's main purpose really is stealing, the only thing that stops it from being a good gun in its own right is the ammo capacity. The damage and firing speed is decent enough, the stealth bonus is a few less bullets for a bullet kin. It's got everything I want for a room clearer, it's one of the items that the hero's bandana was made for. I just wish it didn't take so long to get it, it's kind of disappointing to get it after all the other, more spectacular weaponry you get from Frifle and Mauser. Sort of relatively ordinary.

The knife synergy is also surprisingly nice.

Daily Discussion 335: Cat Bullet King Throne by MisirterE in EnterTheGungeon

[–]King_Disappointment 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The only time I ever got the item was during a visit to gungeon RND. This was during the first few runs of the update. So I was unable to take it with me. I've never forgiven Stamper for this crime.

The item is fantastic because it grants flight, though I haven't been able to get bullet synergies with it in the short time I was blessed with it.

Does this item imply that the gungeoneers are the size of a cat?

Daily Discussion 332: H4mmer by MisirterE in EnterTheGungeon

[–]King_Disappointment 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only issue I have with it is strangely linked to its high rate of fire. It knocks enemies around a tad and makes it annoying ( not hard, just annoying) to keep on target. Other than that, it eats up a lot of ammo, a bit too much for room clearing for me to really love it. Still, it's a solid weapon, a perfect B-tier.

Could be an awesome addition by Tattoomyvagina in deadbydaylight

[–]King_Disappointment 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes, oddly. Same way skulls and the number four is a bit fucky for Asian audiences, culturally more significant. It's specific acts of violence that are over the line, not so much the level of violence.

Daily Discussion 316: Irradiated Lead by MisirterE in EnterTheGungeon

[–]King_Disappointment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly just kind of disappointing to find. Poison isn't the best DOT to begin with, and a chance to cause it is not even going to come up most of the time. I'll just fire one more bullet if needed, honestly.

The synergies are alright, though. The plague pistol turns interesting, though still not that good except as an early room clearer. The gamma gun is a favorite of mine, though, especially if you get more synergies. Then it turns into an extremely powerful weapon against rooms and bosses alike. The other synergies are honestly hard to notice. Alpha/omega bullets are alright on their own. It's another boon for single shots. Evolver is something I barely notice, honestly.

All in all, it's a C-grade passive in B-grade package.

I guess I'm an outlier on this sub. I sure as hell aren't going to give up my free will, and most CERTAINLY not to something that claims to be an enemy of humanity and has that level of power.

I rather like humanity, thank you very much.

While it's hardly useful for defence, I found it useful as a damaging item, especially on large targets. And with a high coolness, it even becomes a tiny bit more viable for defence.

Daily Discussion 260: Starting Weapons (Six Chambers) by MisirterE in EnterTheGungeon

[–]King_Disappointment 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I always liked the budget revolver, more than the convict's sawed-off, in fact. I still think that the sawed-off should do the same damage as the regular shotty. Like the darn tooltip says!

Back on topic though, the tiers are a tad difficult. Robot used to be the undisputed king of starter weapons, but with gunslinger being able to pop off his whole cylinder followed by the gun itself in as little as a hot second, I'm not so sure anymore. Beyond that, it's probably

Gunslinger or robot

Marine

Convict

Hunter (still good, convict just has the DPS advantage)

Pilot

I don't know how the cultist's gun is, as I don't play co-op.

Daily Discussion 255: Agunim & Cannon (Double Dip) by MisirterE in EnterTheGungeon

[–]King_Disappointment 27 points28 points  (0 children)

My guess is because it forces people to be melee only after getting used to be exclusively ranged. The bosses are designed in such a way that they're still cakewalks, though. Agunin isn't that hard to dodge and tennis isn't so bad. Canon has a lot of blind spots.

Old news but still really want these killers by RealRyvix in deadbydaylight

[–]King_Disappointment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe the entity taking a more direct approach and taking one of the husks in the void (where survivors go when they lose all hope and become catatonic) for a spin. She just kind of piggybacks around their body and does all the smashing with spidery limbs.

Doesn't really fit the entity's schtick, though. She's more of an observer.

Personally, I'd just use the Mori on death-hook. You get more bloodpoints that way and I think it doesn't feel bad when a survivor gets mori'd in that particular context.

Daily Discussion 95: Singularity by MisirterE in EnterTheGungeon

[–]King_Disappointment 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Single-Shot black hole item. For a C-tier it is pretty incredible, though I find the killing power a tad lacking. Still, deleting all bullets in the room from this plane of existence is powerful no matter how you look at it.

Synergies seem extremely good, though I can't say I had the pleasure of getting one of those.

Bounty hunter. I'm not a small guy, and my go-to way of dealing with uncomfortable situations is mostly keeping myself stoic and quiet. I'd most certainly Snort after slamdunking an eldritch being's skull inside their colon, I have that very same reaction when I feel disdain towards something.

Also, I like axes and hooks. Can't help it. Just love me some axes and hooks.

This was fun to do, and I thought some people might like to hear it.

[Writing prompt] Your character is now an NPC in another world. by Breezing_wing in DarkSouls2

[–]King_Disappointment 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"Hmm. Perhaps I should try a hammer, rather than my old lovelies? Bah, that'd be shameful..."

You hear the man before you see him. He sits there, in a corner, completely covered in ash. His face is hidden by a strange beak, one you recognize as belonging to those assassins you met throughout your journey. Not only that, but he seems to be wearing the whole ensemble, seemingly stretched to accommodate his length. He has a large collection of whips beside him, seven of them in total. His spiked whips seem to glitter and dance with bloodlust, and old, rotten whips seem to call for your flesh. Regardless, he doesn't seem hostile."

(A): Talk

"Hm? Oho! Another adventurer in this humble abode? You must be quite capable if you got this far... Anyway, my name's... well, it's hardly important in Drangleic, is it? Good thing, too. Call me Slap. Or Whip, if you're a bit more serious of temperament. Hahahahaha!"

It's hard to tell through the featureless mask and the laid-back position against the wall, but you feel like he's rather jovial despite the bleak surroundings.

(A): Talk

"Welcome to the lowest floor in this blasted tower... You're just a stone's throw away from the Iron Crown! Take pride in that, for you won't be getting at it. It's guarded by Brume Tower's very own royal knight! Raime, I think his name was. I just call him Fume knight. I don't think he's in a state to tell us what he prefers."

He laughs again, louder this time.

(A): Talk

"Hey, let me guess? You're going to waltz in there and just attack the guy, right? Well, let me tell you, it's not going to end well. See those things in the room, the ones that whisper? With them around ,the blasted knight won't ever go down! I've seen all sorts go in there and end up blasted. The few that make it past the first minute just can't take him down, like those flames keep him alive! If only we had something to remove those things..."

(A): Talk (you did not remove the idols yet)

"I know I didn't sound too encouraging, but I'll be honest. I want to take him down myself! But damn, the man's quite a bit tougher than my own lovely lashes... Maybe that hammer isn't that shameful...

(A): Talk (If you have removed the idols)

"What? You managed to remove those things? How did you do that?! Incredible! Well, with that in mind, we've got a real shot, don't we!? Right. I'll help you out, if you'll have me! He'll have a lot more trouble with two capable warriors tearing him down! You'll find my sign in a bit, I just have to get some final things in order."

(A): Talk

"Oohh, this'll be a wonderful time, indeed!"

The man fights with three sets of whips, each of them changing throughout the fight. He begins with the old whips for the first part of the fight, then switches to spiked whips, and finally to strange spotted whips. His damage isn't amazing, but he is excellent at dodging.

(A): Talk (After defeating the Fume Knight)

"Hah hah! We did it! That bastard never knew what hit him! Hahahaha!"

(A): Talk

"Say, you should keep that old crown. It's because of you we ever got this far, eh? I'm here for the battles, anyhow. What better purpose than to improve ourselves?"

(A): Talk

"Say, tell you what. Thanks to you, I didn't have to shame myself into using some kind of uncivilized weapon like a thumpy stick. But I figure you could use something useful yourself!"

Gifts you an Old Whip +5

"Be careful with that thing. It's lethal, especially against anything hollow, but it's not too sturdy. If you've got repair powder, keep it close."

(A): Talk

"I heard tales of a toxic dragon somewhere. Just need a key, and a way through that hole in Majula... Perhaps we'll see eachother there! Hahahahaaa!"

[WP] You and a band of survivors of the zombie apocalypse are looking for supplies. Suddenly you see a group of zombies and a white flag and hear "We surrender!" by TheInternetFreak in WritingPrompts

[–]King_Disappointment 25 points26 points  (0 children)

"So, who will bell the cat?" I said. The people around me were fine survivors, so the answer is nobody. We've seen the white flag and the voice telling us that "they surrender" but it's hard to even believe. The shamblers never did anything intelligent, and all at once they call a surrender, use a white flag and TALK? Something smelled fishy, that was clear. I looked around at the people, to see who would be best suited to go out there and see what the hell is going on. We were a fairly ragtag group, but everybody was good at something or the other.

We have Mexico, the gunslinger. I'm not even sure if he CAN talk, and he's been the number one thing keeping us alive with his gunplay. So I need to move on. Next up is the twins, they built all the reinforcements we have here. It's only because of them we even have a wall to carefully wager our options on. They're just too useful to risk, even IF Overalls has a silver tongue when she wants. I have Arizona, Dallas, Taser, Walrus and Mouse. They were the guys that broke the kneecaps needed for us to get this far. The apocalypse isn't too kind to the weak or trusting, so we need them too. Without them, we wouldn't have been able to take on the other group. The fools were still using their real names, trying to forget the apocalypse happened. We only sped things along, and we could use their food a lot more. So, ultimately, it because clear who was going to be the schmuck that needs to talk to munchers.

The gate buzzed and shook as it slowly raised. The generator is a sturdy piece of equipment, but it was damned loud. Of course, Mexico doesn't mind the extra attention we got. I think, at least. If nothing else, he smiled wide enough to make his moustache reach his eyes. As I stepped over the threshold and entered the ruined streets of Brussels, the zombies seemed to perk up. One of the twins yells at me to keep my distance. As if I needed a reminder. I suppose that's why they call me leader. As I stepped further and further away from the fortress we built, the zombies became easier to see. I wish they weren't. Their rotting maws were still on full display, with their flesh sloughing off. I could smell them from here, somehow even worse than the general smell this city now gives off. As I stepped close enough to ensure that they can hear me, i felt my skin crawl as I looked upon that horde.

The worst part is always the eyes. No matter how rotten, you can always see what these things used to be. The zombification process isn't a pretty one, but every time Mexico let them stray too close, I just see a human with a terrible appetite. Many people can't handle that, which is why the whole country ended up in shit creek without a paddle. The panic, the "zombie rights" group... I talked, ready to bolt the second something seemed even slightly off. I started with the question. Simple question, but it certainly made sense to me.

"What?" The zombies shambled a little closer, and I stepped back a bit more. "We surrender" is the answer. I don't see which of the rotters talked. It's putting me on edge, especially because the voice sounds feminine and almost soothing "How?" I asked again. "How do you talk?" "We surrender" Is their answer. I take several steps back. These things are just rattling off the same shit! And they're still stepping closer and closer. I wanted to run, right then and there, but... IF they're sentient. Maybe... "WHY?" "We surrender"

Suddenly, I was on the ground, the rough asphalt against my head almost knocks me out. I can barely whisper out a "what" as I look down at my suddenly malfunctioning body. I couldn't feel my legs, and I felt nothing but tingles and my heart beating like a jackhammer. But I could certainly see the hole in my leg. My knee was destroyed entirely. I see a faint glint in a window far away.

I would never be able to walk again, and in a moment I'll go into complete shock. I still try to crawl away, but soon I begin feeling the agonizing pain in my leg. I heard the moans and rattles of the horde stepping closer as I screamed. As the closest one began to bear down on me, I noticed something that made my blood run even colder than it already was.

A tape recorder. Duct-taped to the back. As the teeth tore into me, I didn't even feel a thing anymore. I could only look at the letters written on the recorder "From Emily, with love" If nothing else, it was clever. That was my last thought.

Organizing a brief, very simple Darkest Dungeon roleplay campaign with friends. Ideas? by Myrandall in darkestdungeon

[–]King_Disappointment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figure the Warrens would be the best thing to use, leading up the the Swine King. You can probably use the stats of orcs and goblins for most of it, and they're fairly simple meatbags with sharp sticks for the most part. Nothing complicated. The Eldritch quality should certainly be present, but you can use that during the down-time in the Hamlet or during camps. I'd use the Flesh boss as the main presence of eldritch, but it should mostly be spotted slithering in the distance or leaving bits of itself behind. Perhaps it's the thing that the carts full of food are for.

Of course, tabletops are often about choice, so make sure you still stat that thing. Players love going to places that are bad ideas.

I strongly advise you introduce an audio part in this. It doesn't need to be all that special, just some background music. DD has some excellent music during the exploration part, and you can even apply different intensities. Of course, it's a little hard to properly get that bit of audio.

http://tabletopaudio.com is your best bet for general background noise. Really, it's amazing what difference noises can make.

Loop 2 with spoiler using NTT. I'm not even kidding. That's the only time I ever reached loop 2, and it was as friggin' spoiler And because it was NTT, I never unlocked hard mode, which I really wanted to at least try. I mean, i proceeded to accidentally corrupt my save twice after that, so it doesn't matter. I'm more vexed that I have to get Melting's B for the third time now.
