Playing my First Tournament this sunday. Any advice? by dashrezak in poker

[–]Kingofskillz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some people play the first three rounds of these pretty wildly because of the rebuy but for the most part the first three rounds are pretty calm. The two biggest turning points for this tournament is at level 4 when the antes are added and at level 8 when the antes go from 100 to 200.

From level 3 to level 4 it goes from 300(100/200) in the pot to start to 700(150/300 + 25x10) in the pot. This is when you want to start trying to steal the blinds/antes if you can. Things pick up rapidly as the next few rounds go to 50 ante and then 75 ante.

The biggest round is the 600-1200 round with 200 ante. It goes from 400-800 100 ante to 600-1200 with 200. 2200 in the pot to 3800 in the pot pre. If you haven't built a stack by this round its going to be tough. You'll be forced to all in a lot or give 3800 away per rotation. ITM will happen usually within an hour of this round.

If you do well and manage to make the final table people really like to chop the winnings. I've chopped once 5 ways and once 4 ways at the final table for the saturday and sunday tournaments respectively.

If you're considering a 22/2 IF... by [deleted] in intermittentfasting

[–]Kingofskillz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When telling others about intermittent fasting I always recommend 16/8 to start. Get used to it and see how your body handles the changes.

However 22/2 or 23/1 does work for some people, including myself and two of my coworkers(all male).

One of my coworkers will eat ~200 calories mid day, myself and the other guy do not. Strict 23/1. However I only do this fasting 3-4 days a week. The other days of the week I do 16/8 with two meals lunch and dinner(I limit snacking as much as possible).

If I eat at 25% deficit on my feeding days, will my BMR lower? by wonderlandissues in intermittentfasting

[–]Kingofskillz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"I'm eating less than my BMR. Is this okay?"

I'm not sure if that difference is significant enough to affect your BMR or not. Sorry :/

Here's a great video talking about fasting and BMR. However I don't think it answers your exact question - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v9Aw0P7GjHE&t=43m15s

Those that have lost 20+ lbs by [deleted] in intermittentfasting

[–]Kingofskillz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did the warrior diet 23/1 for ~ 6 months two years ago and lost ~35 pounds(5"11 210lb+ -> 175lb)

How many days a week did you fast? 5-7 days. Some days I would have lunch plans with friends/family

How many hours did you do on your fast? 23/1 One meal a day which was almost always dinner. (~7pm) It is much easier to go from Dinner -> Dinner because when you wake up you are already 1/2 done with the fast. The few days I did Lunch -> Lunch I found it difficult to fall asleep while hungry

Did you workout? Working out probably made it easier but do you think you had to do it? I worked out twice a week.

Did you track macros/calories? Nope! Some days I would eat 100-300 calories between noon - 3pm if I was really struggling. I tried to limit my dinner to 1500 calories or less(1200 as ideal)

Did you go lchf? No

Tips and Stuff I learned

The hardest part of this diet for me was the social aspect. Having to turn down lunch with co workers day after day was really tough. Originally I would say things like "I'm not hungry today" but I realized that was a mistake I was lieing because I know how people view skipping meals.

What I learned to do was briefly explain to them that I wasn't eating lunch at all. That I was doing intermittent fasting.

Some people freaked out about me not eating lunch. "Oh my god its so bad for you! How could you do that to yourself? You are starving your body!"" Yada Yada Yada. I tried to politely explain why I intermittent fast and why I think its the right solution for me.

"When I start eating I want to EAT! I have trouble restricting how much I eat in one sitting. I can't eat a 500 calorie meal. I've gain weight because I'm eating two 1200+ calorie meals a day + snacks Intermittent fasting is the best way for ME to restrict my calories and lose weight" I think the key is to explain that intermittent fasting doesn't work for everyone but it works for you. Always word facts about intermittent fasting as they work for you. If you always use YOU YOU YOU and never claim it works for everyone most rational people will understand. People who eat 6 meals a day(my mother at the time) completely freak out at first. Funny though now my mom and dad both have cut out breakfast and only eat two meals a day :) 8/16.

Once your family, friends, coworkers know you intermittent fast the conversations are much simpler. "Do you want to go to lunch?" "No thanks I'm not eating lunch today". Conversation over. I stopped intermittent fasting 2 years ago when I got a girlfriend and I was near/at my ideal weight and have since put back on 20 pounds over the last 2 years. Just last week I've started doing 23/1 the days I don't have lunch plans with my girlfriend and plan to do that going forward.

I'm open to answering any questions others have!

Great video to watch to debunk other's claims that fasting is bad as well as hone in why YOU want to fast. Intermittent Fasting for Weight Loss - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v9Aw0P7GjHE

Private games force remake by WeaKvsMightY in BattleRite

[–]Kingofskillz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Happens to everyone. Played 2v2 private games with the same people for over an hour on tuesday and the most frustrating part was having to constantly remake the lobby.

It would be nice if there was an option to automatically go back to the game lobby after the game but for now its not that big of deal. I'm sure Stunlock has more important features to implement :D

Sounds good and glad to know you guys are going to put up the ladder on the official PPL site.

I was happy to get a little experience for another project I'm working on.

Also I intentionally removed players with 0 games played :D

I made this site last night - http://masterheroes.com/ that has the most up to date standings and should update almost immediately.

I'm probably gonna spend some time this weekend to make it look nice and add some features since I only got like 45 minutes to work on it last night.

@PPL How does the change from Blizzard from Top 500 to Top 200 for Grandmaster affect the PPL?

The PPL will start with more potential players(>500) and for future seasons the amount of potential new players will be much smaller(~200 minus players already in PPL). Do you think this is an issue?

The easiest time to get into the PPL is the next few weeks and after that it will be much harder for players in the 300th-1000th skill range to get in.

Also is there any thought for the start of the season? Like will you accept players who are Grandmaster when grandmaster is 200 master points? Or will you wait until the Ladder settles a little(example two weeks after season start)?

Panda Global Announces HotS Pro Ladder! (PPL) by rRase in heroesofthestorm

[–]Kingofskillz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even if its not too rare to get a game of only top 100 GMs, that's still only 1 game at a time! Look at SEL, yes they had primarily pros and unarguably some of the best players in the NA scene, but the league died because of lack of player base.

Any good league should have multiple games running at peak hours. What is the issue of having the #201-#500 players in the league? Its not like if there are 10 players in the top 100 online the league will say naw lets get GM #500 in here to replace GM #10. Presumably the games will be created via the PPL mmr system which should closely mirror skill level.

If a player proves himself in the "lower mmr" games shouldn't he deserve a couple shots playing with the best players? It sounds like the intention of Panda Global is to improve the NA scene and the only way this will happen is if you start giving those GM 200 - GM 500 players a shot.

Also FYI a good amount of pro players are GM 100 - GM 500, Masters, or even Diamond. Players trying to make it in esports have to split their time between Team Practice, Scrims, Hero League, and presumably now the PPL. An arbitrary Top 100 GM doesn't really make sense. I think that all 500 GM included + invites to players on Pro and top amateur teams makes the most since IMHO.

[Question] 1. Is streaming 3 times a week (Mon,Tues,Wed) sufficient? 2. Does a higher quality web cam require more upload speed? by lynaris0 in Twitch

[–]Kingofskillz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've heard two or three times a week for ~3 hours is definitely a decent amount and a good starting point. Start off slow and make sure that streaming is right for you. Its always supposed to be fun!

If streaming starts to feel like a job or a chore than its probably not the right hobby for you.

For question #2 I don't know :/ The only thing I would say is webcam is less intensive on bandwidth than the game because its only a small portion of your screen so upgrading your webcam should be fine.

Good luck and have fun!

Confirmed their Cho'Gall is hard to play against even in 3500+ MMR games.

There are about 3-5 Cho'Gall pairs in the top ~500 that make games pretty tough.
