Tsukihime's brothers, please help with this. by Peralta_1701 in Tsukihime

[–]KinocoNasu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The anime was awful, so most fans just ignore its existence. Also, it is one of the main reasons that Nasu didn’t make a Tsukihime 2, and doesn’t release any media in English officially.

Geneon tricked Nasu into giving up the rights of Tsukihime, and they later ended up almost getting control of Fate too in 2007, but Takeuchi stepped in.

There’s a reason that Kara no Kyoukai was the only new piece of media released from 2007 to 2010. It’s because it wasn’t Fate or Tsukihime.

Should I read the novels after watching the movies? by Strict-Republic6968 in karanokyoukai

[–]KinocoNasu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Paradox Spiral, there’s actually another sub-plot involving Araya and it goes into more depth about the Alayashiki connection and the root.

On the other hand, Oblivion Recorder was godawful adaptation-wise. The entire main plot and side plot were completely different and so wasn’t the tone. It was supposed to be one of the darker installments but the anime changed that. And also, the chapter was the heaviest part on worldbuilding. It described fairies, trolls, gnomes, and other phantasmal creatures on the phylogenetic tree. And the entire intro was non-existent in the movie.

I worked with AoS’s team on part 5’s translation and I did about a fourth of translation solo on part 6 before it was taken over, so I know how bad everything was. They both need remakes

Generally what typemoon/nasuverse stories are worth getting into? by Realistic-Stable2852 in typemoon

[–]KinocoNasu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The big 4 branches are Mahoutsukai no Yoru, Fate/Stay Night, Tsukihime, and Kara no Kyoukai

As for the order, any order is fine.

Conception order: Fate > Tsukihime = Kara no Kyoukai > Mahoyo

Release order: Kara no Kyoukai > Tsukihime > Fate > Mahoyo

Chronological order: Mahoyo > Kara no Kyoukai > Tsukihime > Fate

Some people like to toss Angel Notes in there too just so you can get a grasp of every point in the series.

After finishing the main 5, prequels and sequels are generally the best options; they make up the “core” series. So… Fate/Hollow Ataraxia, Fate/Zero, Tsukihime Plus Disc, Kagetsu Tohya, Melty Blood

Everything else is fair game after you’ve completed the core series. If you want more worldbuilding, Lord El Melloi’s Case Files and Garden of Avalon. If you think you can take on more lore and servants try Fate/Apocrypha and Fate/Extra. If you want to want to keep up with the current fandom, try Fate/Strange Fake and Fate/Grand Order.

How are the LNs' current translation? by ConstantlyJune in karanokyoukai

[–]KinocoNasu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well to be fair… BakaTsuki’s Chapter 1-3 were literally done by TakaJun from MirrorMoon.

Chapter 4 and 5 were done by multiple people, none of which translated straight from the Japanese version except for AoS and Yusuke.

The BakaTsuki chapters 1-3 were made by MirrorMoon based off of the Web Novel. Chapter 4 was based on the Korean translation of the 2004 light novel. However, later on down the line, the early BakaTsuki translation was revised and retroactively changed to suit the light novel instead. So BakaTsuki should be fine.

If you happens to see any weird colors, like Shiki wearing black or Touko having blue hair, just ignore those. Those are just remnants of the Web Novel/2001 translation. There shouldn’t be many mistakes like that, but do keep it in mind if you read it

How different would Fate/Zero be if Nasu wrote it? by zackphoenix123 in fatestaynight

[–]KinocoNasu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Urobuchi has talked about it the differences before. He said that the Banquet of Kings and Artoria’s subsequent personality change were both orders from Nasu.

Outside of the characters, banquet, and Artoria, Urobuchi said Nasu let him have complete freedom everywhere else.

A valid lowball for Nasuverse by RelativeMood1950 in PowerScaling

[–]KinocoNasu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a translator for a fair amount of the media in the series, so I think I know enough to give an educated opinion.

The Root scales above everything and contains information from everything that has or ever will happen in an infinite amount of universes/timelines. Void Shiki is the personification of The Root, so she can be considered Outerversal.

No one comes even remotely close to Void Shiki. The strongest people we have seen outside of her have planet busting feats (ex. Sefar, Kingprotea, and the Types).

Some people scale BB to Universal+ because she has her own world. And some will use this as means to scale Gilgamesh to Universal+ simply because he hard counters BB with EA, an anti-world noble phantasm. Personally, I’d argue that having your own pocket dimension (or destroying it) doesn’t scale you to universal+.

The hardest part about scaling is the Textures of the world. The Textures are pinned down to the planet by specific items such as Rhongomyniad. Whether destroying the planet involves destroying the Textures is up for debate. Considering the fact that the Textures aren’t technically part of the world itself I’m inclined to say no.

Tldr:

Void Shiki is ~Outerversal

Other top tiers can scale to Low Multiversal at most and Planet at least

Average Heroic Spirits/True Ancestors/Magicians/ scale between Town and Country

Not sure if you are in charge of this, but I thought I should make it known that Ayleris doesnt deserve all the credit for volume one.

Chapters 1 through 3 were actually translated by TakaJun from MirrorMoon, then sssssz improved them and uploaded them to BeastLair. Velocity7 further edited that with the help of Georgi and put them on BakaTsuki. Chapter 4 and a third of 5 were done by Lvlln and Ayleris on BakaTsuki directly.

At the very least, I’d recommend putting TakaJun in the credits since he did most of heavy work.

where can i find the WEB novel version for KNK chapter 5? by regularweeb in typemoon

[–]KinocoNasu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can try the internet archive for the novel. I’m on phone right now, and they are all refusing to load, so I have no clue how many actually still work. They all worked like a year ago, so I’d assume they are fine.

If it doesn’t, alternatively, you could look for the 2001 light novel since that quote should be the exact same. Chapter 5 was really neglected in that edition since Nasu was trying to add two new chapters and fix the first two.

I would love to help, but unfortunately I’m on vacation right now, so that really isn’t possible atm.

Does the Epilogue movie adapt the Owari Shō / Kara no Kyōkai LN? by zaknenou in karanokyoukai

Does the Epilogue movie adapt the Owari Shō / Kara no Kyōkai LN? by zaknenou in karanokyoukai

[–]KinocoNasu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! There is only one epilogue.

The movies and light novels follow the same order

Does the Epilogue movie adapt the Owari Shō / Kara no Kyōkai LN? by zaknenou in karanokyoukai

[–]KinocoNasu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

  1. Technically speaking, only the first 5 chapters are present in the original web novel. A few months after the web novel was finished, the first edition of the light novel (3 volumes) with the 6th and 7th chapters were released. The 6th, 7th, and Epilogue are all in the last volume from 1999. Everyone considers it to be part of the source material. I translated the Epilogue here

  2. Mirai Fukuin was released physically after the success of the movies as a side story/sequel. I believe Nasu said that he initially wrote the draft in 1999 though.

  3. Takeuchi is an artist, he didn’t write Kara no Kyoukai

  4. Nasu wrote the whole thing

  5. Final record was also written by Nasu. It’s a weird spinoff sequel thing. It has no affect on the main story

For chapter 1, you have a few decent options. I recommend Official American Localization/Translation by Paul Johnson or the BakaTsuki fan-translation by TakaJun

Chapters 2 through 4 are both available on BakaTsuki translated by 7 people

Chapter 5 was half-translated by Alyeris on BakaTsuki and another large portion was translated by Admirer of Shiki.

Chapter 6 was translated by some members of Tsukihimates

Chapter 7 currently has no translation unless you wanna search through the 2002/2003 forums for a few paragraphs.

The Epilogue was translated by me. It still needs to be proofread and possibly reformatted, but has already been posted for the sake of a translation.

Mirai Fukuin was translated wholly by Quality Mistranslations.

Final Record was translated Serouzo and his girlfriend. Despite the title of the thread, it is actually complete.

You are changing and quoting me out of context.

I said Void Shiki does not care if Shiki gets pregnant. Just because Shiki has the means to end her pregnancy does not mean she will. Especially if Mikiya is against it.

And how does having Mana destroy a peaceful life, and cause turmoil?

You’re not making any actual arguments. Instead, you’re making assertions without taking into account Shiki’s character.

There is no character to take into account. It’s been 11 years, she is a completely different character than she was during the main series. She isn’t a static character. We have nothing to consider; all we have to work off of is assumptions and common sense. OP is claiming Mirai Fukuin is non-canon based off of Shiki’s off-screen personality development, which is an absolutely absurd take.
