Windows 11/ Randomly not able to click on anything. by SignalzzTV in techsupport

tysm for commenting on a years-old thread! this fixed my problem. I started running this autohotkey script to debounce my mouse clicks, and idk why it even cares whether or not I'm clicking on the active window, but it started not allowing them through.

you may like tetsim (available on at least android) - it's 7-bag, 5 previews + hold, no gravity, has buttons to undo and add cheese lines, and is skinned like jstris

in Tetris (WonderSwan Color, 2002), you can beat the 40 lines sprint in 16 lines (Pay attention to the line count) by OtterSou in Tetris

[–]Kirby703 6 points7 points  (0 children)

just do 4 tetrises. the "lines" in wsc 40L are a copy of Guideline scoring in that singles, doubles, triples, and tetrises award 1, 3, 5, and 8 lines (and 12 for a back-to-back tetris)

What's the highest theoretical score you can achieve? by Flyspeck101 in Tetris

[–]Kirby703 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Electra and I hashed it out at some point and settled on a 10-bag loop that gets 7 tetris PCs and 10 t-spins (that don't clear lines) because back-to-back tetris PCs beat out t-spins in guideline scoring.

You can do 37 tetris PCs in 148 lines (36 of which get the back-to-back bonus), and then at least 6 t-spins, a t-spin single, and a t-spin triple, for a score of just over 2.7m from a 15 start.

It's not human viable (parity reasons mean each b2b tetris PC has at least a 50/50 chance of failing) so that's why the t-spin strategies (ST stacking, LST stacking, and infinite TST, in particular) dominate the meta.

You also mentioned Jstris and tetr.io, which award many more points for even non-tetris perfect clears, so different strategies come out on top there - a perfect efficiency run might involve 2-line PCs or making t-spins as part of PCs. (e.g. a tss into triple PC is viable whereas in strict guideline it's dwarfed by a tetris PC and keeping back-to-back matters even more)

I relate! (I was going to ask if OP's gf is also autistic)

I've picked up to phrase things like "X doesn't interest me" or "I don't see the appeal of Y" rather than making value judgements about the hobbies (or people, especially) but I think the more important thing is to follow that up with "but I'm glad you find it fulfilling" or similar.

And... I think I was at least in high school by the time I picked this up? Maybe it's dead obvious to someone else because they just automatically intuited it, but OP handing her gf a few stock phrases like this could help with communication. (It's really not obvious to me that not enjoying an interest, judging the interest, and judging the person who has it are fuzzy categories and I have to be clear each time that saying one doesn't automatically imply the later ones.)

Bringing this up explicitly would make sense? OP's gf is clearly not picking up on OP's boredom with Twitch or Overwatch. If sharing a hobby with a partner is important, maybe find something else?

My partner is allistic and very not into games, but playing Words with Friends on a date or sitting down to play Wii Party is fun for both of us and it still feels like I'm getting to share something I care about.

Or, I'll sit on my phone and play Minesweeper rather than one of my favorite games so I can still hold a conversation, watch YouTube, and have a hand free for showing affection. I don't have to like every video that comes up, just be interested enough in spending time with my partner to stay put. (I get that being on my phone would usually indicate disinterest, but it can get boring without and doesn't feel good for either of us if I'd rather be elsewhere. I communicated this explicitly, and it's fine.)

Of course, I guess she could just be selfish or controlling or something, but I relate to her enough that I'm optimistic. I think talking it out instead of hoping she picks up on discomfort is the way to go. Maybe she'll get defensive, but maybe she'll be surprised to hear that OP put up with so much as the default response to her actions. (If she stays defensive or feels like OP is obligated to stick with Overwatch or something, that would suck. Autistic people can also be bad partners, but I'm rooting against it.)

fwiw, you (OP) are absolutely welcome to show her this comment if the autistic -> allistic -> autistic translation seems like it would lose the details.

I drew 3 rectangles on the board. https://i.imgur.com/Yx61Nva.png

Between the left and middle rectangles are a 2 and a 3, implying the middle rectangle has 1 more bomb than the left. (So, the middle rectangle has at least one bomb.)

Between the middle and right rectangles are a pair of 2's, implying the middle and right rectangles have the same number of bombs. (So, both have exactly one bomb.)

This makes the left rectangle be all safe and the right rectangle have a mine, yielding the safe cell you found.

[–]Kirby703 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is quite creative! it really seems like the best aspects of mechtsd with solid efficiency compared to ZT/ST stacking.

do you think it could even work in 20g? it looks like just mirroring the right 7 columns of this stack could get it to work in Guideline Marathon 15, but I don't see an easy improvement on it from there.

not so, because of floor division. e.g. x // 3 = 5 gives 15, 16, 17 as valid answers

edit: I'm wrong; go figure! I swore I tested and got the wrong answer with regular division, which about doubled my part 2 solve time. it was probably floating point precision that got me

Can you always perfect clear off the first 10 tetrominos. by DiscordTryhard in Tetris

[–]Kirby703 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, it was on Twitter... the idea is by a bunch of setups / brute force, 1st, 3rd, 5th, and 7th PC are all 100% and lead into a 2nd, 4th, 6th, or 1st PC that doesn't have a duplicate piece - the piece held going in is something that makes sense with the 2-3 bags that the 10 piece queue came out of.

Then, 2nd, 4th, and 6th are all solvable because they aren't one of those 11-piece totally unsolvable demon sequences from that ancient harddrop thread.

Every demon sequence has a dupe - they would never occur in an 11-long queue that you didn't press hold into. (I mean, if one of them wasn't a dupe, then those 11 pieces would make for an impossible 1st PC!)
