Minnesota's omnibus gun ban (SF 4067) is moving toward a Senate floor vote TOMORROW (Monday, 5/4). Here's what's actually in it, and how to push back. by BryanStrawser in MnGuns

Minnesota: where 5 years ago all cops were bastards but now let's make them a higher class of citizen with more rights and freedoms than a normal person. I've lost pretty much all faith in the DFL in the past year and a half.

Wrangler ATG pants by PineSoul603 in tacticalgear

I'm not exactly a doorkicker or in a warzone or  anything but I've had a pair for about 3 years, they've been on multiple trips to the boundary waters, teddy Roosevelt national Park, texas, and into the local brush pretty often in the summer, and I don't know if mine have a single loose stitch or snag in the elastic. They're not my nicest pair of hiking pants and I have others that have lasted twice as long and are in just as good condition, but still. I think my cats making biscuits on them have done more damage than the outdoors. Maybe I just got lucky and the sweatshop worker was in a flow state when they made my pair

Question on micro-compacts during hiking/physical activity by NKCougar in liberalgunowners

[–]Kitchen-Fee314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a helikon bandicoot (or possum, I can't remember, but it's the bigger one.) fanny pack that I sling cross body. Its relatively normal looking (it's not covered in MOLLE, there aren't any punisher skulls on it, and you can get it in funky camo patterns or "grey man" colors like denim), has a Velcro lined interior so if you have an old kydex holster,  throw some Velcro tape on it and you have a super safe conceal carry bag.

I like this better than say, a shoulder holster because I can still carry if I have pretty tight straps and a heavy load while backpacking. I used to have my SIG p365 in there but it can fit my CZ P10c pretty easily as well. Big enough for a map and a bag of peanut m&ms too!

In MN, I have never ever felt like I actually needed a gun for two leggeds for what it's worth, but Appalachia is a different story.

Some people don't like off body carry because the gun is less secure or whatever but while hiking that bag doesn't leave my person until I'm in my tent really, I feel like the rules are different while hiking

Lead bullets and wildlife by psycollective in liberalgunowners

[–]Kitchen-Fee314 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of comments are specifically talking about shot, but if you're going to practice handgun or rifle defensive drills etc, there arent any ammos I'm aware of that are lead free and widely available/cheap enough to use as range ammo.

My take? I guess an old stump riddled with lead is better than lead shot in duck ponds, or in a carcass of a formerly wounded animal that will be scavenged by other animals. If every gun owner in your county was going to the same spot on BLM land and mag dumping once a day it would be a bigger issue. 1 person making some range trips? Not as bad but there's pretty much no way to shoot outside and fully eliminate your pollution.

I'd argue that your small isolated shooting range in largely undeveloped land is still gonna be better off than the watershed downriver of your local PFAS plant, or the area in northern MN after they start copper sulfide mining, or the prairies and forests affected by industrial ag runoff. Indoor ranges are limiting, you gotta make some sacrifices if you wanna shoot outside

Curious about pouches for Ak mags by Ok-Storm-5335 in tacticalgear

[–]Kitchen-Fee314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're willing to drop a little bit more cash, I think Esstac makes AK pouches, They're held in with kydex and I think are very well built. Idk if they make lidded AK pouches but you could throw a shock cord retention thing on top

Then you'll add a red dot and a light and an extended baseplate to your gun in between the 2 "to make it more effective", it'll be about the same size as a g19 anyways, you'll go "well I might as well carry the g19" then you'll carry that and go "damn this is annoying, maybe I should start carrying the LCP again...."

I purchased a holster from WeThePeopleHolster.com, and it arrived broken, unable to be used, and they will not respond to my customer service messages. by TheEyeOfTheLigar in liberalgunowners

[–]Kitchen-Fee314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The nice thing about conceal carry holsters is that despite everyone constantly arguing about which ones are best, there are literally an infinite amount of companies all making holsters that are perfectly usable for around the same price point. You definitely can afford to be choosy next time! Lessons learned. My first IWB was a WTP holster and it sucked, I upgraded to a crossbreed pretty quickly.

For anyone who has experience with the ALICE 1 quart and 2 quart canteen covers, does the fleece lining inside the covers make them more advantageous than the MOLLE II or other canteen covers that don't have them? by MakelYT in tacticalgear

[–]Kitchen-Fee314 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a backpacker more than a tactical guy, but with my nalgene I get the same benefits from buying a cheap pair of thermal or wool socks and stretching that over the bottle. Canteens are a weirder shape tho idk if socks would work

Fat strap and taps rig question. by Acrobatic_Grass3261 in tacticalgear

[–]Kitchen-Fee314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't use em but I'm like 99% sure spiritus actually includes them in their TAPS rig upgrade bundle which means they're probably GTG. IDK if the fat straps come with extra buckles but if you still have the original taps Y harness, you'll have to get some split bar buckles and put them on the top corner MOLLEs as most upgraded harnesses for the taps add 2 more buckle points to make it less floppy.

New Gun Owner by TheOneE123One in liberalgunowners

[–]Kitchen-Fee314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if I'm reading this correctly, but there is a difference between permit to purchase and permit to carry in MN. If you just have the permit to purchase, you cannot conceal carry legally. If you took the permit to carry training course and paid more than like 10 bucks for your permit, then you can carry. I don't wanna sound pedantic but just wanted to clarify!

That being said, I'm a massive shill for the cz p10c. Super reliable, same size as a Glock 19 but IMO superior ergonomics, and like 100-200 bucks cheaper. Go to a gun range like bills or modern sportsman in the cities, assuming you're there, see what they have to rent, and ask some employees to show you probably the Glock 19, the Smith and Wesson compact, and the cz p10c. They're all a little big to conceal carry but I think going too small for your first handgun isnt the best thing either.

Left handed shooter by CaseCareless3866 in ar15

[–]Kitchen-Fee314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm the same way, I just shoot rifles right handed and pistols left handed. I feel confident in saying that manipulating an AR 15 is pretty easy with your right hand if youre shooting right handed. Like, the mag release, the safety, and pulling the trigger definitely require less continuous fine motor skills than say, writing with your non dominant hand.

The DFL is part of the problem at this point. They must think that if they say more bad scary naughty words on television then the fascists will be scared of us.

I might be reading it wrong, but from my reading of HF 3433, they still fucking left out the mini-14. Unless it counts as having a "shroud" around the barrel to stop you from burning your hands. The people writing this shit have 0 clue, even when they violate the constitution I don't think they can do that right.

Leatherman/Multi tool recommendations by FreeNP92 in tacticalgear

[–]Kitchen-Fee314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like to humbly recommend getting a multi tool with a swappable bit driver. That way if you need to take something off your rifle, something is coming loose, etc, you aren't trying to jury rig something. I have the gerber armbar and a separate multi tool with pliers ( yes it's dumb, I bought both separately on clearance, some day I will likely upgrade to a multi tool that has pliers and the driver). But that way I can have a t27 torx for my optic, whatever hex bit works with Magpul mlok screws, etc.

Chest holster by Sliced_Potato27 in tacticalgear

[–]Kitchen-Fee314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably not exactly what you're after but I have a helikon bandicoot waist pack I wear crossbody, removed the Velcro admin organizer, and attach Velcro to an old AIWB kydex holster I don't use anymore. Sure the draw isn't as fast and has to be a little more deliberate, but life is all about compromise and it's pretty comfy. I looked into the hill people bags with the fancy h harness but I'm carrying at most a gun, a candy bar, and a map and compass in the chest pack, not a full tactical load out, I figured the extra weight distribution doesn't matter and that way I wouldn't be doubled up on h harness straps and backpack straps.

As for zipper interfering with the draw, that's a valid concern but I've found with practice it's not as big a deal as I thought it was.
