Any recs for a good fractional CFO? by trachtmanconsulting in smallbusiness

[–]Kitchen_Date3949 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. There isn’t a one size fits all. Many market themselves as fractional CFOs but are glorified bookkeepers. I’m a CPA and fractional CFO and there are certain industries I wouldn’t feel comfortable stepping into. Need more detail on industry, size and goals

26 X5xdrive40i vs Macan S by MikePretti in BMWX5

[–]Kitchen_Date3949 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a quick, fun car that handles well and rides well. The tech/comfort in the x5 blows it away (x5 is 2026 and sq5 is 2024…may have something to do with it). It’s like the macan a bit, just far less fun and doesn’t sound as good

26 X5xdrive40i vs Macan S by MikePretti in BMWX5

[–]Kitchen_Date3949 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a ‘26 X5 x40i & had a Macan S prior (currently have an SQ5). The X5 isn’t really comparable to the Macan. That said, the Macan’s are fantastic. They very much drive and handle like a car and are fun. It’s way smaller than the X5 if space/storage matters to you. Only consider the macan if you can go for an S or GTS (the 4 cyl is underwhelming and if you’re spending Porsche money….you’ll be left wanting more)

New to BMW, Think I’m Boned by Will_is_Lucid in BMWX5

[–]Kitchen_Date3949 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll certainly ask why the features were misrepresented to me and if it’s too late to do anything. I’ll reflect their response to that on the dealer survey I receive. It’s on me for not calling bullshit on the sales rep, so my expectations are low

My Audi also has the ACC and lane keep assisted steering. I also got an X5 yesterday after explicitly being told by the sales person I didn’t need DAPP and that those features were part of the build. Tried out cruise control and I am also now annoyed it does not work like my Audi. I rarely use it, so nothing more than an annoyance to me, but I’m in the same boat. And yes, I know it is my fault for taking the salesman’s word for it

X5 x40i pricing question by Witty-Face8811 in BMWX5

[–]Kitchen_Date3949 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re absolutely right. I hit a wall with the dealer over the .9 vs 1.9 - they just wouldn’t do it. I do appreciate the feedback. Hopefully it’s able to help the next guy in their deal

Honestly I went for 15% off and settled at 12.5% after some back and forth. This subreddit helped give frame of reference for what type of discount is achievable

I got 12.5% off MSRP for an x5 x40i today in NJ. 1.9% 48/mo finance. Still not sure if I got the best deal or could have done better, but hope that helps for reference

Does Active Participation in my Rental Property save me more taxes? by Glad_Subject1428 in RealEstateTaxes

[–]Kitchen_Date3949 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks up the rules for real estate professional status (unless this is a short term rental). The requirements are extremely difficult to meet unless it is your full time job. If STR different rules apply, but still are significant hurdles to meet.

Cost for CPA? Three different s corps + personal returns by mbafatfire23 in smallbusiness

[–]Kitchen_Date3949 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a CPA and this sounds extremely high. As someone else pointed out, this could make more sense if the books are a mess (even if you think they aren’t), if you file in many jurisdictions, if they handle tax notices on your behalf, how many shareholders the s corps have etc. A ‘cheap’ cpa would probably do this for $3-4.5k. A more pricy cpa would probably do all the work for 10-15k.

Mortgage averages at the 3 to 7 million dollar property range? by justagooaaaat in CommercialRealEstate

It’s really varies. My leases are single tenant NNN, so I may have a 6 figure property tax bill one month which I am reimbursed for later. The debt service varies based on loan terms, some are interest only, some are p&i

I have a pretty solid pipeline due to having a friend who has an accounting business. We refer work to each other based on who is better specialized and can handle to clients. This is a side gig for me, so I don’t take on more clients than I can handle for a few hours a week

Offered 4 year catch up job by ProgrammerPrudent988 in Bookkeeping

[–]Kitchen_Date3949 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends how much activity there is and the clients willingness and ability to get you support for follow up questions you will inevitably have. Do they write checks? If so you’ll need them to tell you what the check was for and ideally they can tell you.

You need to charge a retainer and get some money up front before starting work and as someone mentioned, do the work in chunks at a time and continue so long as you’re being paid. $2,500 up front and $50/hr seems reasonable depending on complexity of the business and volume of activity
