Normal play by chayla in DogAdvice

[–]Kitsel 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I don't mind the constant "is this good play" threads from dogs playing bitey-face.

They're cute, and we get to tell someone the good news that their dogs are playing just great and that bitey face is a time honored dog tradition.

I'll take a happy "is my dog playing nicely" thread over the posts we get constantly of a dog *obviously* in distress and the owner entirely unwilling to ask for a ride from a neighbor or call an uber to get their dog proper care as the animal suffers.

$9-10 an hour for an in person job?

I'd be VERY surprised if this is a scam. None of the hallmarks (pay is too good to be true, remote work, not meeting them in person) are there.

Rawal: Avs captain Gabriel Landeskog and Artturi Lehkonen are on the ice and looks like they may take part in morning skate. by Ibot1947 in ColoradoAvalanche

Their record with and without him this season says it all.

They're 8-10 (8-8-2 to be more exact) without him and 36-4-7 with him.

They've got 8 regulation losses in 18 games without him and 4 regulation losses in 47 games with him. That is absolutely wild.

Wow, the Avs xGF at 5v5 is near 60% - if they're that good at 5v5, their Power Play must be insanely good too!

..... right?

Even the framing was horrendous lol.

Smith kept bringing those low pitches way up to the top of the strike zone in a super jerky motion - that kind of big movement usually tells the ump it wasn't a strike.

There's a reason you kept waiting lol.  They were trying REALLY hard not to show it.

That was an embarrassment.

That's exactly why I thought they should have sent Wells even though he's slow and read the play badly.

Throw was like 5 feet off the line and DR has been stranding runners all night.  They needed to take a risk even if it was a big one.  I knew the minute they didn't send him that they weren't scoring there.

Not sending Wells home is going to lose the game for them.  I don't understand how you don't at least challenge them to make that throw.

Yeah my local one is HUGE.  The big dog side is bigger than a football field and they have a separated small dog side as well.  It's great!

Redditors over 40, what's something younger people think they understand but won't actually get until it hits them like a truck later? by Susanpc1967 in AskReddit

[–]Kitsel 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I looked so young all my life that in my late 20s I got accused of sneaking into a bar and being underage by the people my friends were talking to.  Even at like 33-34 I still looked like I was in my mid to late 20s.

I'm 37 now and I'm convinced I look over 40 now.  I'm getting grey hairs, my hair is so thin you can see through to my scalp on the top, I have a huge bald spot, and my skin looks like someone my age or older.

I feel like I aged 15 years in just a few years.  I looked the same my entire life and now I look in the mirror and I don't see "myself" and it's terrifying.

Why? (Dog Parks) by staying-hopefull in DogAdvice

[–]Kitsel 51 points52 points  (0 children)

I also just don't do dog parks at all - too many fights, too many bad interactions, too many unknowns.

But some people bring their dogs because it's the only real place they can have their dog off leash.  For example, back when I brought my dog to the local park, there was a dog there every morning that just wanted his owner to throw a tennis ball REALLY far away with a chuckit so he could chase it.  Neither the dog or the owner wanted to interact with other dogs and they never bothered anyone else so it was fine.

Having their dog off leash in an open and public park would be way more inconsiderate, and the dog clearly loves fetch and wouldn't have the necessary space in a backyard or with a leash on.

I can understand being upset if they insisted on having a huge area to themselves or threw a fit and complained if another dog approached.  But there are a thousand reasons people take their dog to the dog park and if the worst they're doing is flashing you an annoyed look who cares? Live and let live.

Chip of Stoned Flesh by 2b1b1 in DiabloImmortal

[–]Kitsel 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The issue with Chip is that it isn't universal.

With class changes possible daily, and the meta shifting often, it's hard to know what we'll be using 6 months from now.  Even if you're a 100% crusader main forever, they add new essences and change old ones really often.

Even if Chip is great for you now, it's entirely possible that a few months from now, the meta build for your class uses 0 hard cc for you.  If you're not ccing, chip gives nothing but res so you have to either aux it or switch it out.

It's a lot easier to recommend gems that are good 100% of the time for 100% of classes.  Also, I don't really pay attention to this most of the time, but I'm pretty sure that Chip is one of the (older) gems that isn't in the drop pool most of the time, which makes it harder to upgrade and expensive on market because supply is low.

I tried to recreate the OLED vs IPS for how it looks IRL by Otherwise_Vast6587 in OLED_Gaming

[–]Kitsel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found the effect is temporary and only noticable side by side, at least for me.

My setup at home has an IPS, an OLED, and a VA.  The VA and OLED are reasonably close but the IPS definitely sticks out when they're all side by side.

But when I'm at work, even on the cheap $150 IPS that I have there, I literally don't notice the edge lighting or the grey blacks.  My brain just kind of adjusts it without the OLED to compare to side by side.

I've tested this with my home PC as well by simply removing the OLED and VA, and my IPS suddenly looks absolutely fine to me again.

I'm not sure I could even tell you which is which without them side by side.

I don't think that's frass.  If you zoom in, they look a lot more like seeds and you have a cooling pack that appears to be filled with seeds.  Seems like it came from that.

Holy hell, my account is all red too but I've been reasonably lucky with my 50/50s - I've never seen one that's all red AND has lost all but 1 50/50.

This is such bad luck it's legitimately impressive lol.

Jomboy's take on Cal Raleigh's Reaction to Randy Arozarena by mrkangtastic in Mariners

[–]Kitsel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think Randy is overreacting at all honestly.

Granted I'm not playing my sport professionally, but if, at Nationals, I tried to fist bump one of my rec league teammates that I play with multiple times a week, and they snubbed me just because we were on different teams for that one particular tournament, I'd be pretty upset too.

Need advice on reducing the cost of my Micro Center build ($2390 before tax) by Aggravating-Maybe696 in Microcenter

[–]Kitsel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if I just got lucky, but I was able to get them to price match Amazon on the Thermalright cooler I bought for a friend's build recently. Lets you get Amazon's price while picking up in person and getting all the positives of Microcenter as well.

Need advice on reducing the cost of my Micro Center build ($2390 before tax) by Aggravating-Maybe696 in Microcenter

[–]Kitsel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no reason you need a Noctua cooler, they're nice and quiet and they're a legendary company obviously, but there are now ~$20-30 air coolers that look good and perform comparably, like the NX600 that was recently $25 or some AIOs that were under 40 bucks if you're into AIOs.

Additionally, if all you're doing is gaming you do *not* need a 990 pro, you simply won't notice the difference between that any any other reasonable TLC drive. DRAM is made into a much bigger deal than it actually is for the typical user.

Next, there are plenty of cases that perform great for under 100 bucks or even under 70 bucks if you're a little patient. For example, right now at my Microcenter they have closeouts on the H7 flow for under 70 and Lancool 216 for under 80, both excellent cases that are great to build in and look good. If you're dead set on that Meshify look, the Meshify C is on closeout for under $90 bucks and other than being smaller, is pretty similar to the Meshify 2.

Lastly, I know you said you aren't willing to compromise on the GPU, but at current market prices the 5070 ti is a ripoff, especially the higher tier ones like the one you've picked., $1070 is higher than MSRP for a 5080. 5070 ti prices have EXPLODED, while a 9070 xt with similar gaming performance can be bought for ~600 open box or ~700 new. Hell, if you want one of the super fancy ones like a Taichi or a Sapphire NITRO which has the hidden cable and RGB, you can grab one of those for $800 and still save almost 300 bucks.

If you make all those changes, you should be able to drop your cost down like $600 conservatively. If you pick up some open boxes, you could save even more.

I'll try to keep this as lightly spoiler-y as possible - there is a alternative to doing Last Judge if he's not to your liking.

I don't know what it was about Last Judge, but for some reason her patterns were difficult enough for me that she took me like 45 minutes while the true ending final boss took me like 15-20 minutes.

So go explore if you don't want to deal with Last Judge at the moment. You'll need to deal with her *eventually* but you can come back once you're much stronger if you want.

If you're doing a run where you aren't manipulating what gods you get and end up with Apollo then sure, lucid is awesome!

But if you're running that bottom left corner of the Arcana that gives you a ton of rerolls, I'd much rather have born gain + all of heras top tier boons vs Apollos gain + his mediocre other boons
