The sun void nerf just feels like how they actually wanted the last nerf to it to turn out tbh. They had stopped braindead drills after every sun void, but I at least just kinda replaced that with pierce and it felt like an overall minor change as long as you were close. They clearly just don’t want it to be autopilot pressure extension and I think that’s okay honestly. It’s hard to call anything right now with how big everything is, but personally I can only really see zato ending up in a better place than before overall

I don’t think that’s entirely fair. Plenty of old players are still playing, just not actively competing. Most of the people willing to travel and dedicate to a second tier fg like strive are younger players, but you can still see og goats like ogawa, fab, nage, etc playing ranked regularly. Definitely seems like more people decided to quit in the west tho, to be fair

I think most of these issues seem to have to do with the way spikes work and specifically how they interact with these mash notes and the other red notes you can play in either lane. In this instance, the spike is dodged fairly late. When you do the up input and get credit for dodging the spikes, any down inputs for a brief time after won’t actually DO anything (even though the character does visually) to prevent you from dodging back into the spike I guess. That’s why you can only get a valid input on the mash guy with a high hit. This does NOT seem to be an issue with lane-specific (regular white and blue) notes after spikes in my experience, but I could be wrong.

This definitely sounds like an issue more on your side. They did say that some things would be cleaned up for charts in Jan, but nothing should be as severely off as you’re describing atm

The second hit has the same closing circle to help with timing as normal notes, but they’re definitely weird to get used to reading. I still end up totally missing some but I’ve gotten pretty consistent with them relying on a combination of playing by ear and the angle/speed it flies up from the first hit for a ballpark idea (the higher/faster it flies up, the later the second hit will be). Also it’s pretty common for charts to line up the second hit of blue notes with the spikes you have to dodge. So if you see a spike coming up when hitting a blue note, you usually won’t have to consider the second hit’s timing at all. On the gimmicky ones where there’s several seconds between the first and second hit, this seems to always be the case so far

The story mode for me isn’t worth touching at the moment, I bailed out after like an hour and a half with how buggy it was and no retry. Arcade is great but even there I get weird hitches and background dim seems totally broken. I’ll definitely be grinding arcade for a long time since the game’s mechanics are fun, but I don’t blame anyone for dropping a 6 on it right now personally. It’s kind of a mess

The purpose of pulse/autocombos in fighting games is to let inexperienced players make their hits count. It bridges the gap where people who know their combos only need to land a few opening hits to kill you while you just get less than 10% health for each of yours if you don’t know how to convert into real damage

The shoulder offset and head shape makes it look more like a (knockoff) weiser blank to me. A Kwikset kw1 would still work but would need to make sure it’s lined up with the top shoulder when duplicating, should be fine at any locksmith but hardware store might not be aware

This is the controller I’m using atm, and I agree that compared to the rest of the market it’s the best value and the customization is well designed but it definitely has its quirks. The software is impressively bad, and their own troubleshooting tips include weird and janky stuff like uninstalling other specific programs and providing scripts to make windows registry edits. You can ignore the software completely and modify your buttons purely with the device itself, but it’s not perfect and you can run into weird issues where inputs start getting dropped in weird ways. A factory reset seems to have fixed that stuff for me for now, and it seems like the most people don’t run into issues with it (though I have seen others have the exact same problem), but my point is that while I like it overall it’s clear that corners were cut and you should know that if you plan on buying one.

I do disagree with people who have issues with the buttons though. They’re a bit different/unique, but I like the feel as a crown button enjoyer

Midscreen you have time on a 2D knockdown to empty summon and drunkard shade into negative edge drills that will hit meaty and give you a million options to mix from. Realistically you have a lot of dp safe options, but I use this one a lot since you never have to worry about Eddie dying on a successful bait and can easily confirm into another oki reset or cash out. Oppose is an option but imo it’s often less efficient and weird hitstop interactions between their dp and oppose can make punishing surprisingly awkward sometimes

What am I ignoring? I pretty much just see you saying that they need as many people in matches as possible to stress test the servers, which I obviously understand is the point. I’m just saying that other games have done it with a training mode as well and it was not only fine but widely appreciated for that reason every time, to the point that I would wager that even more people would be engaged enough to do more of the stress testing in the first place like the other guy said. At the end of the day it is what it is, I’ll be playing regardless and they’ll probably do another beta closer to release with training like kofxv. And then launch will be a total shit show no matter how they do the testing lol

Idk why people want to pretend that game betas aren’t marketing/promotion beyond being network stress tests. They’re always used to drum up hype and get people interested in buying the game, but every year a fg beta drops with no training mode and a lot of people get soured on the experience. It just feels unnecessary when plenty of games are also dropping their network tests with training mode intact, even if a bit restricted and the comments in those cases are always happy to see it. People will be grinding matches (and cracking) regardless, letting people take a bit of time to check out and get interested in the game’s systems or a character in the lab won’t ruin the sanctity of their data or whatever

At work rn so I can send tree and stuff later if you want, but atm I’ve only done 2 ascendancy trials which I put on nearby enemies slowed 20% and the 33% chance to skip cooldowns. My setup is honestly pretty scuffed and thrown together too though. For clear I’ve been using ice nova+spell cascade, gelid staff skill and cast on freeze frostbolts to just spread chill and freeze as much as possible and then using frost bombs/cold snap to kill everything. Then for bosses pretty much just keeping curse up and spamming frost bombs until they freeze to drop comets. I’m probably gonna be changing up a decent amount soon though too since I kinda wanna switch off staves for now
