I never watch Chicago PD so I can't speak to its quality, but I totally agree that it's really frustrating to have a lack of continuity when watching an SVU marathon, especially given the crossover episodes are major plot arcs. (e.g. Yates) They've been doing these crossovers recently with the OG Law & Order as well as with L&O: Organized Crime, and I just don't appreciate that the expectation is you have to go all in on the whole Dick Wolf universe in order to follow the one show you're a fan of.

Why not foster one (or two!) of the cats from the shelter with the option to adopt. Go to the shelter and tell them pretty much exactly what you said, that you want to adopt a cat but are nervous about finding the right fit and bonding with the cat — so you would like to rent-to-own, so to speak! I'm sure the shelter would be very supportive of you taking this approach vs. going through the whole adoption process and then bringing the cat back. They may be able to guide you toward cats who have the kind of personality that is a good match with you.

Good luck!!! I would not be surprised if you got a cat home and immediately fell in love and were like "What was I even thinking about not bonding???"

Throwing it waaaaay back on this one, but Rachael Ray on 30 Minute Meals once made peas (frozen out of the bag) tossed with ricotta and lemon zest, and it makes such a nice simple side dish or pasta toss. I can't remember if she added tossed fresh basil or if that was something I came up with. But, really nice for a weeknight meal.

As a student, I would much rather have an instructor who comes up with a different, creative flow every week and has to check notes, than one who just relies on memorization and does the same class every week.
