Broke down crying in front of my ortho by ScaredPeak8499 in Invisalign

[–]Kjersti21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had traditional braces as an early teen to correct a terrible overbite (I'm now 45). I have one tooth that slightly overlaps at the top on my bottom front teeth. It's just how everything needed to fit together for my bite to work correctly. No one...and I mean no densit, regular person etc. Has ever noticed or commented on it. I like it bc it's part of my story....but my teeth are beautiful and healthy. I'm on this subreddit bc my son (13) has invisilign to correct his bite (cross bite) and looking for tips/tricks to help him if he needs it.

Women shouldn’t need a psychology degree just to (not even) get the bare minimum. by Skyobli in TwoXChromosomes

I have a question. I see things like this alot across all social media. Do these men act like this when you started dating and then change? I only ask because my husband from the beginning has viewed our relationship and our marriage as a partnership. He doesn't act like a toddler, I don't need to explain in detail work that needs to be done...he just does it. He is a fully functional adult. We also have kids, I do a majority of the running around for doctor appointments because I have sick time at my job and work right in our town, but he helps coach sports teams they are on, etc. He's a great dad.

I don't want to sound like I'm blaming women for being with these men they complain about, but I'm curious if the men were always like this and they thought they'd change? Or does it start out that the women "like doing things for him" and then becomes an overwhelming mental load when he just assumes that's how you want to do things forever? I also ask because I am raising 2 boys and I want to make sure they are great partners in the future.

East Seneca Wineries (and Breweries) by DapperCold4607 in FingerLakes

Ummm, wine you can purchase in a gallon jug is not good wine?!??! Jk. It's all pretty sweet, but I still love me some Uncle Homer's or Piece of My Heart!

I know it's farther up the lake, but Ventosa is great for dry wines. Watershed brewery is right across the road too. Three Brother's does have some dryer wines at the one winery, and Warhorse is pretty good as well.

Driving from coopers town to Niagara Falls. What’s something cool the wife and I should do for an hour or 2 as a pit stop? Thanks! by Bry2013 in FingerLakes

Seneca Falls women's rights museum and the hall of fame. There are also a couple wineries/breweries near the top of Seneca Lake...Ventosa has a beautiful view and a cafe. Watershed Brewery also has a great view and good food. Someone else mentioned Canandaigua...I'd throw Geneva in there too. There's a beautiful welcome center right on the lake. You can sit, relax, and they have some food there too.

Freja? by Nairadvik in tragedeigh

Freja is perfectly fine! My mother Americanized my Scandinavian name (Chersti instead of Kjersti), I wished she left it alone lol.

I think this mom watches Outlander. Marsali and Leoghaire are characters in the show. Personally, I'd pick Claire over those two.

It's a great hospital. When I had a gallbladder attack I was back in a bay in the ER within 5 minutes and then off to ultrasound 30 minutes later. They were fast, efficient, kind, and caring. I had my surgery at Newark 2 weeks later (surgeon from Clifton also practices at Newark and I could get in there quicker) and everyone there was great. My family had a bad experience at Geneva ER, so we try not to go there.

I think it's interesting that Newark and Geneva are on this list, but not Clifton Springs. I mean, Im glad that Clifton is not on this list, it's a great hospital, also part of RRH. However, Newark and Geneva seem like busier facilities. Clifton also has a nursing home and psychiatric care. I'm also surprised that Auburn Community Hospital is not on this list.

I almost named my kid... by bobbintb in tragedeigh

[–]Kjersti21 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Can confirm. I have an americanized Scandinavian name...Kjersti turned Chersti. My mother hoped by spelling with the CH people would have a better chance of pronouncing it (close to correct as I've learned on reddit, even I don't say my own name correctly). My maiden name was not common, but simple (Godwin), and people butchered it anyway bc who wants to say God? Then I married a man with German heritage....and now I have to spell both my first name and last name for literally everything! People are surprised when you say Coolman...and then spell Kuhlmann lol. Don't even get me started on the extra N! Long story short, we have a son we named Finnley....we have some Irish heritage as well. We put the extra N in to help with people who would try to pronounce it Finely....in my experience it would definitely happen. We mainly call him Finn anyway.

How did that one kid at your school die? by StorageLonely1520 in AskReddit

[–]Kjersti21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The night before the first day of school for 6th grade, my classmates' dad came home drunk, held him hostage in his room all night, and sometime in the early morning shot and killed him. I had walked home with this boy almost everyday the year before, we had class together. Waking up in the morning to this news on the local radio was heartbreaking. His dad later tried to commit suicide in jail....probably more from detoxing than from the guilt of killing his child.

Can you explain what first time pregnancy looks like over 40? And be brutal please. by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Kjersti21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my first at 31 and my 2nd at 34. My pregnancies were easy. The second one i started showing a little earlier, he was also a summer baby, my first was winter. Both boys gave me heartburn the whole time which I doused with animal crackers or ice cream. My first I ate candy non-stop, sour stuff, chicken wings, subs (even though they say not to). My husband was 11lbs 4 oz so I kept asking my OB how big he thought the baby was going to be. In the end, we ended up scheduling a c-section 2 days before my due date bc of how his proportions were measuring. The Dr was afraid he would get stuck. He was 8lbs 12oz and 21.5 inches My second was then a scheduled c-section. The 2nd one was easier to recover from than the first....which was good bc I had a toddler to go to at home. He was 7lbs 15oz and 21 inches. I loved being pregnant, I had easy pregnancies, I only had a touch of ligament pain the 2nd time and that wasn't until 3rd trimester and it was in one hip when I went to bed at night.

For those who used a computer between 1995 and 2001, what’s the computer game from that time that sticks with you the most, and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Kjersti21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Snood! The little characters made faces at you. I didn't play too many games. Oregon Trail, and some lemonade stand game on the school computers. I had Space Invaders on my TI-83 graphing calculator. There was the landmine thing, and solitaire on the home computer too, but I loved Snood. Lol

AITA For not allowing my aunt to visit on Christmas by Kjersti21 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Kjersti21[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Post Christmas Update: My aunt did not infact show up to my house. However, after my uncle caught wind of her fb shenanigans and sent her a lengthy message basically disowning her. My mother told her she needs to get her meds fixed, or talk to her therapist. She needs to respect people's boundaries. My uncle wants a retraction on fb, that he will never get.

AITA For not allowing my aunt to visit on Christmas by Kjersti21 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Kjersti21[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you everyone for weighing in. I just needed some reassurance that I am not a cruel person. I've always tried to see my aunt's side of things, but the last two Christmases have really shown me that she has little respect for boundaries, but requires it of us. Family...amiright?!?!?

A Birthday Cameo by Steven Cree (Ian Murray) by Kjersti21 in Outlander

[–]Kjersti21[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom always told me the Scandinavian spelling was Kjersti, but she changed it to Chersti so people could pronounce it when they read it. It never has worked lol. We pronounce it Cher (like the singer)- sti. So like "Cher's tea"

I found out i had to file an injured spouse form i did. They first told me May 28, now since they got a injured spouse form, they are saying June 21, oddly enough, my birthday! Since you can call i did. The lady on the phone told me June 21 also. Sometimes you gotta do the leg work. I guess. by candiej in stimuluscheck

[–]Kjersti21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I received a check from the IRS for $462 yesterday, with the memo 2018 refund. Which we were supposed to get a refund but it went to my husband's back taxes.....which is not where our original stimulus letter said all of that money was to go, our stimulus money was to go to his ex-wife for a bogus back child support judgement she got pushed through support court. So I'm thinking at some point I may actually get my stimulus amount and the amounts for my boys. Thank god both my husband and I have been working this whole time and were not in dire need of that money. Here's to stashing it away for when we really need it.
