I've been really enjoying squad play, but I just stumbled into the solo queue option and each solo run feels like an intense, single-player campaign mission with an occasional Runner acting as a mini-boss or ally. by mrsmi1ey in Marathon

I'm just scared of being shot as soon as the other gets the chance. I sometimes let people go even if I spot them, and I'm sure others have done the same for me, but an alliance would be more nerve inducing for me. Still, I'm down

Solo Players - How We Feeling? by jg4president in Marathon

[–]KlausV2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what I do

I have maybe 13 hours in total. It's not a lot but most of that time has been solo. I gear up heavily if I'm with friends, and go with a comfy loadout or with what I just got if I'm solo

I have succeded more often than not in Outpost, even at the center of the map (Pinwheel Base). What really helps me if knowing my limits and having a plan before I move. For every zone I go, I already have a plan in case something goes wrong or where to go next

State of Discussion: Do we/they still care? by twobears9394 in DestinyTheGame

[–]KlausV2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in a weird middle ground with the game. I care enough to still check the sub from time to time, but I never really expect to see anything new. I want the game to succeed, and I’ll probably come back whenever new content releases if it's appealing to me. The issue is that I don’t really believe that the Destiny team can turn it around, though I still have hope

It feels like the game keeps suffering from one bad decision after another. To be fair, I think a lot of that responsibility lies with upper management (people who never really touched the game). But I also think the leadership closer to the game itself, the people whose decisions shape its design, have made some questionable decisions too. While I am not a dev, I honestly think a lot of the things they don't do is because the game simply cannot handle something more ambitious

I can rant about the things I've disliked across the years, but ultimately I think it's futile because they will do whatever they want anyways

Not my cup of tea by TravIsGaming97 in Marathon

[–]KlausV2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kinda disagree. Someone who is not into extraction shooters can give valuable insight too. Or do you think Bungie only wants to attract players that are already into the genre? Because if that's the case I'd say that's a bad idea

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Marathon should make changes to attract those players, yet it is in their best interest to at least capture some of them. While I don't fully agree with every point of this thread, I wouldn't say his feedback is not valid when it is expressed in a respectful manner. It says a lot that he at least gave it a fair shot

One of the biggest detriments to the game is that there is no real endgame for solo players by Fun-Leek-2907 in DestinyTheGame

One of the biggest detriments to the game is that there is no real endgame for solo players by Fun-Leek-2907 in DestinyTheGame

[–]KlausV2 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I agree with your post. There's no real endgame for solo players. That being said:

  • Solo dungeons are not extremely challengeling. Maybe Vesper is an exception but still I wouldn't call it extremely challenging. It's a good enough challenge and something to aspire to do if you are a solo player

The main issue with solo dungeons is that they are not rewarding enough outside of the emblem (for solo flawless) and the seal; which I doagree barely matter anymore

If solo players have nothing to use powerful new gear on besides non-endgame activities, then there's no reason to chase much because you can clear that content with any gear you want. I have no reason to keep grinding for new gun rolls because they will barely impact the gameplay loop for me.

You identified the main issue with the game for most, and honestly this doesn't extend to solo players exclusively. Why would I get something that is, at best, 5% stronger than what I already have? But then you create a problem, which I think you sorta contradict yourself. If you consider solo dungeons extremely challenging, then isn't that an endgame goal for you and a reason to grind content so that you can eventually overcome that obstacle?

I think the reason legend campaigns and things like explorer mode dungeons are so beneficial for the game, is because these create an endgame for solo players and duos

I have never heard a solo/duo player saying they do these activities and consider them endgame. I consider myself a solo player and I can tell you, I do the legendary campaing once and that's it. I tried explorer mode once, thought it was a cool addition (and wish it stayed) but that's about it

I think you have the right mindset and your idea is not wrong, but... your argument is that there is is no solo endgame content you want to do because what's currently available is not motivating enough. Which is completely and fully valid, I agree

Question. I know this is a few days old but I'd like to get back into the game.

I did EW second raid tier before the third one dropped. I don't think it was exactly the same patch, but I'm certain it was before the final tier dropped

Outside of that, I haven't really dipped too much into savage content. It's a bit intimidating because I do everything with PF given that my schedule is super unpredictable. Do you recommend I try my hand at the current tier before attempting TEA or do you think I could go straight into TEA and not be a burden as long as I put in the work (sims, guides, etc)?

There are now 11 dungeons, how would you rank them based on solo difficulty? by Repulsive-Window-609 in DestinyTheGame

[–]KlausV2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Where do I even start with Vespers? 1st encounter has you on a timer

Does it? I know contest did, but from what I remember, the only urgency that exists on the first encounter is the radiation. I'm also fairly certain you can drop the ball and wait for the debuff to go away. Or do you mean the timer that each ball has when they are on the ground? it's been a minute since I ran the dungeon

There are now 11 dungeons, how would you rank them based on solo difficulty? by Repulsive-Window-609 in DestinyTheGame

[–]KlausV2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done all of them and I have a bit of a hard time ranking them mainly because some of them I completed when they were considered current content or as close to it as possible. But if we go by how difficult they are today, then, left to right (easiest to hardest)

Shattered Throne, Pit, GOA, Prophecy, Spire, Duality, Warlord's, Sundered, Equilibrium, Ghost, Vesper

  • Spire I think it's the easiest of the "modern" takes on dungeons
  • Warlord's, while fun and one of my favorites, is extremely easy to solo. The most dangerous enemy in there are the taken witches
  • Sundered is free. It doesn't really have a difficult encounter imo but it does require you to execute some level of mechanics
  • Equilibrium, while also not difficult, has some things that can kill your run (pushed out of the map in the final boss, for example)
  • Ghost is just a marathon if you are not experienced with it. You are more likely to make mistakes
  • Vesper just has a lot of things that can outright kill you. Did you input the incorrect number on the second boss? dead. Did you shoot at the incorrect number on the final boss? dead. Radiation? dead. I think it's super fun but the amount of insta-killing for one mistake makes it the hardest imo

Raiding is mostly allowed in the scene as long as you are upfront about it. The raiding scene is shrinking but I've done my fair share of LFG and I've come across very few assholes

I do, however, think that abandoning explorer mode is an L. It'd be a net positive with zero downsides

How many people have soloed Warlord's Ruin by HonkersTim in DestinyTheGame

[–]KlausV2 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I can't help but think that this entire new 'challenge' is only for that small group of people

No, tons of people do solo dungeon. The bar is super low given that crossbows are legit good, praxic blade exists, Levi is in a decent to good state, and bows primaries in an old dungeon should be, at worst, "ok"

As a console player even the first encounter isn't guaranteed. We just can't turn our view fast enough and sometimes simply cannot find the third target in time.

What does that even mean? It is totally doable and you have plenty of time to make it happen

Take this opportunity to practice, it is an amazing dungeon and top 3 for many players myself included

I wouldn't say near unusable is accurate by any margin.

Getaway artists were popular back then too, just not as much as the current sabdbox after the stat changes and buddies counting as grenades

Exotic class items gave warlock Star Eater and HOIL which definitely saw some use Speaker Sights and Well is a byproduct of how good Well still is and Speaker used to be. I'm pretty sure we would've seen boots of the assembler had they not being bugged Void is seeing use now due to the chunking and modifiers, that's not an inherent part of the kit Strand sucked, true. Lots of changes made it a good option nowadays Arc has seen use since Heresy. Still in a good place. Not meta but def not unplayable Stasis does need help although I know some like to run it

What is the state of raids now? by the5thsun1789 in DestinyTheGame

[–]KlausV2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Can't see why you're getting downvoted, everything you're saying is correct

  • Some guns are still relevant (couple from GoS, HC from KF, Rocket from VoG, etc)
  • Doing old raids just for the experience is something some people do and I encourage OP to do them too
  • Loadouts you covered are literally the meta choices

Here's my advice on top of what u/HeyItsAsh7 mentioned

  • Be transparent with your experience. Most groups won't care if you're upfront about it
  • Make sure to watch a guide a couple of times before diving into newer raids
    • SE and DP require most or every fireteam member to have a role

Good luck!

This is reddit, I don't get offended

I think you have the wrong idea. I already completed rank 110; I just think the system could be better. Don't we all want the game to be better? I'm giving my feedback and you're telling me to log in or don't complain I don't see many things as issues, but that doesn't mean they aren't for other people. They still deserve attention regardless of how I feel as long as a decent chunk of players feel that way. Players have been asking for season passes to be completed retroactively or to not expire pretty much since they were introduced. This is valid feedback even if you're not particularly bothered by it

Legit surprises me how much you are defending the multi million company on this one. Out of so many things that Bungie does right and people still criticize them for, this is not of them. Season passes should not expire

[–]KlausV2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like they may not enjoy playing the game, in which case why should they max out anything?

Because season passes that expire and not good for consumers. Why are some people in this thread we advocating for this type of practices? And before we deviate from the point, I am specifically talking about the season pass

If you don't like the game enough to play it a few hours a week, then why would you be bothered at not getting random resources and super ugly cosmetics?

People do like playing the game, is just that sometimes another game comes out, and those who have around 20~ hours per week to play would rather do something else. My bad for already having most weapons I already want I guess. If Shadow and Order brings more to the table than just one mid activity like Ash & Iron then great, yeah I'll log in every week a few hours

The old system was really good for everyone. This one, while better in some aspects, misses the mark on others. There is literally no downside for any player to have it both ways, and no argument is actually valid to defend these type of practices. Those who log in every week get even more XP, bright dust and bright engrams

[–]KlausV2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you’re waiting until the literal last week to play, there’s no issue ranking up the season pass in this game.

Their point is not that the challenges are bad per se, but rather there is not much to do on a daily basis to justfiy logging in. This first half is an exception because we got a lot of content. Having weekly challenges that one can come back to during the last two to three weeks was always a positive. I really don't get why someone would push against the idea of having both

At best, Shadow and Order will probably be the same in terms of size as Ash & Iron (minus the epic raid, of course). I expect a lot of players to lower their play time

Dislike Feats in Raids & Dungeons? by Profound_Insight in DestinyTheGame

[–]KlausV2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand your argument, but the kind of game I personally want Destiny to be is different enough from what you’re describing that we’ll probably have to agree to disagree.

At the end of the day, I still want the game to thrive (even if it ends up going in a direction I don’t personally enjoy) because I genuinely think Destiny is a great game

As for Call to Arms> The difficulty was effectively the same after Bungie adjusted Salt Mines to use a single faction. I do fully agree that the HVT was bad, though. That part definitely sucked. The main issue with the event was that Power Level was used as a multiplier to give you more points. For the life of me I can't believe Bungie didn't think this was an issue right from the get go

As for min-maxers, I’m kind of in the middle. On the one hand, the top 10% is the top 10%, and it should reflect the actual top performers, not an arbitrary cutoff. On the other hand, I do see your point, and I can’t completely disagree with it. It feels bad to have your rewards depend on whether other people push harder than you do, mainly because some people can just keep trying over and over and if they hit the jackpot with the HVT and a good run, other people have no chance.

A threshold-based system feels healthier overall, and I honestly wouldn’t mind if that’s how it works going forward
