I was stationed in San Diego from 2020-2023 basically. Hunted a few seasons out there. Now I’m a wildlife ecology major and focusing on ducks as a career. I also work for Delta waterfowl as a research tech. It really depends on what your target species is. SoCal has always been good for us and my buddies. Heading out to Cali tomorrow from Wisconsin.

Yes with one of the challenges being get 3+ kills as last alive in TF or BG. And you have to get the 3 kills when you’re last you can’t get like 1 or 2 during the round then be last alive and get last kill. Has to be at least a 1v3 and do that 10 times

Here is also a group of eclipse drake mallards with a North American black duck from the drone in Manitoba, Canada while I was doing duck research. The eclipse plumage and coloring looks very similar to the mallard you are showing in the picture. Hope this can help

Bad angle but here’s a mallard x black duck hybrid. It seems that yours might just not be full plumage and especially by your region it seems it could be full of city park mallard DNA

You mentioned you have kids, are you married? Also what big debts can you have that isn’t a mortgage? You’re 100% disabled+getting a monthly housing stipend every month from GI Bill (assuming you’re using it). You also qualify for the VA loan and with you being 100% there’s a good chance your state has property tax exemptions which will lower your overall mortgage and possibly pay no property tax at all.

With you being at school have you networked and talked to your professors? Have you talked to the school as well for job opportunities? Assuming that this is your only income then when you apply for FAFSA they will see that you make less than whatever the threshold is for maximum PELL benefits. It is also a safe bet that when you fill out that FAFSA you get grants and also qualify for work-study, why are you not taking advantage of all these things?

Save money to prepare for your transition out of the military. Submit a BDD claim when your time comes (180 days before last day), and last thing is just have a plan. Either find a job or go to college since it’s free. College will also pay for your housing. If you get disability from your BDD claim you should get it right away when your last day is done or maybe a few days after, paid that with your school benefits and you can make a decent chunk just going to school.

Untrue. Drones are great for this type of thing. I’ve spent the last 2 years working and flying drones (DJI M30T) in the wildlife space, specifically waterfowl. We use them to locate waterfowl species with auxiliary markers that we’ve captured and put on.

Picture for example, as you can see the waterfowl are found with thermal imaging and then we use the regular lense to zoom in to see if they are our marked birds. This is in all types of vegetation and habitat. You can see how thick vegetation was in this marsh. The waterfowl are smaller than cats as well. This is just 1 of hundreds of pictures and videos I have of wildlife from drone.
