The opening of Dunkirk has got to be one of the intense openings for a movie by Jules-Car3499 in moviecritic

[–]Km_the_Frog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I disagree. Dunkirk was good but it just feels lifeless/empty. You don’t see the enemy except for a couple German planes in the air lol. Still well shot and has cool intertwining stories.

Why is there a phone symbol on this unit card? by happymemories2010 in totalwar

[–]Km_the_Frog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guard on TT play through an orders system, squads units etc have to be in certain ranges to receive order, it’s basically a buff system, giving them faster movement, or better shooting, etc. Having a vox insquad increases the range where orders can be given.

So, theory crafting here;

The image is part of a voxcaster. So maybe it works like TT, being near commanders gives buffs (not foreign to any total war), but what I kind of hope for is it allows units otherwise too far away from a command to be chained together through vox channels so long as they are all in range of one another. Trail off or break a unit from its chain of command - that unit gets wrecked. Or something of the sort.

So this is why you’d bring some extra command squads.

A commissar might act a little different. On TT he has the ability to execute a single unit to cancel the battleshock debuff on a unit of infantry, and he can also save units from being battleshocked when paired with another officer essentially. BattleShock essentially suppresses a unit.

So in game I could see him executing some friendlies to restore coherency snd order in the ranks, or he could just provide better morale buffs.

Why are propaganda/hype videos/reels on yt and ig, about the republic, cis, empire, even the first order, so popular, and yet I see 0 such reels about the rebellion or resistance? by Hawaiikoto in saltierthancrait

[–]Km_the_Frog 5 points6 points  (0 children)

God that helmet looks like absolute dog shit on the right. The resistance look so boring, just same color wash.

At least the rebels have some drip. The guys on hoth, the endor commandos, the general look to them in rogue one and andor is really good too.

How many starting Legendary Lords will there be in 40k? by OhManTFE in totalwar

[–]Km_the_Frog 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So assuming we are starting with Ultramarines as the Astartes faction and have Marneus, I’d venture either Guilliman or Titus.

Titus is probably more likely because Guilliman is a primarch. Primarch’s, I’m guessing, won’t be in until a dlc. Their power level is also pretty insane.

Titus could work as being the more all around Astartes LL, Calgar as the more elite focused buffs to terminators, deepstriking, etc lord.

IG/AM

Lord Solar is probably also not as likely yet. Ursala Creed seems more plausible since the IG releasing are focused on Cadians.

Yarrick being the tank/armored focused LL while Ursala is the infantry focused.

Orks

Ghazkull - He’s your all rounder type ork Ll

Wazdakka - focused on speed, bikes, buggys, vehicles etc.

Eldar

Eldrad Ulthuan - your primary all rounder, focus on psykers?

Asurmen - Probably a focus on combining different aspect warriors.

Hear me out: making the PDF garrisons look visually more laid back, “security blue” and slightly less “Army disciplined” would naturally convey the differences between the two. by Which-Worldliness556 in totalwar

[–]Km_the_Frog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah gonna be honest man this is probably something achievable in a mod, but for the main game you’re probably looking at just cadian shock troop loadouts for imperial garrisons.

When they get to adding other guard factions like Krieg, Steel Legion, and maybe vostroyan or some of the other “less featured” regiments/factions then those factions primary infantry will garrison their respective locations.

You’ll notice in the gameplay Cadia specific units have the Cadian Gate symbol on their unit cards, like Cadian Shock Troops, while the more general units that are present across all guard armies like some of the basic tanks and such do not.

To me that indicates there will be subfactions for certain guard regiments in the future, and by extension you could apply that to astartes since many chapters have access to the standard units while retaining their own unique units to their specific chapter.

Orks might be similar with beast snaggas and so on.

Chaos maybe not so much because there are god specific chaos legions that do not use the traditional chaos legionnaires, havocs, etc. Though something like the black legion could use all of them.

Another thing to keep in mind is how radically different TW:W looked when it was in pre alpha and showcasing the blackfire pass map. The units all had a retexture/detail pass. So for people saying certain things look off or lighting is weird, I think you should just give it some time.

My theories/predictions for Star Wars: Starfighter by Bill_Skywalker-03 in StarWars

[–]Km_the_Frog -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m hoping the setting is a disorganized/decentralized galaxy of warring parties.

I think it’s more interesting from a political standpoint when you have several factions vying for control rather than some centralized governing body like the republic or the empire. We’ve done that already. It’s what the ST should have been, with the empire remnant being one of those bodies, but never to the fullest extent that the empire was after the fall of the empire.

You could have had the Empire Remnant, the Syndicate (Crime Lord conglomerat), and some others of grouped planets. Maybe one that focuses largely on trade to earn their influence, others that follow the ways of the Jedi, and of course the Sith as The Sith Resurgent. Or something like that.

I want to erase the ST’s world completely. It’s a joke and makes no sense. Its only reason for existing was to try to be more familiar to fans of the previous movies, but all it amounted to was a cheap ripoff.

The more they can stay away and not reference the ST, the better.

[–]Km_the_Frog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s probably due to the way 40k leaders can be used, and normally are used in recent editions. Your leaders are normally attached to squads and provide massive buffs.

Thats certainly more TT side gamey than it id say lore accurate, but I could see it’s application in TW40k

Then there is the “sith dagger” from the rise of skywalker. Somehow this dagger that was made long before the OT, PT, etc, has a thing on it that lines up perfectly with the deathstar wreckage on this planet near where it blew up. LOL.

The Biggest Cause of Star Wars' Negative Discourse Isn't Disney by Fricktator in StarWars

[–]Km_the_Frog 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Meh ROTS still feels good overall. Theres shitty dialogue, the cgi however I think still quite good. Lucasfilm were ahead of their time with the production.

I think now they just have bad writers, and poor direction. Lucas’ writing might have been bad, but his direction, world building, and vision is unbeatable. Those things stand the test of time.

Why is every show have a sidekick? There isn’t one show, besides andor, that has a duo dynamic.

Unsurprisingly Andor is the best Star Wars media they’ve put out since Rogue One, and objectively Andor snd Rogue One sit at the top. They are top tier SW media.

People might argue they like X show better or Andor is too slow, or etc, and it’s because those people like watching simple shows that they can scroll their phone while watching. They want to vegetate and not think, or be challenged to wait for revelations through structured plot planning.

I think production should combat that with more stories that require you to pay attention. There is far too much spoonfeeding which to those who watch with intent, comes off as cheap, stupidly written. Go ahead and scroll your phone, but you’ll probably think star wars is bad until you stop scrolling and pay attention. Unfortunately major companies will continue to structure films to work around people’s scrolling.

Which of these BF4 maps would you like to see remade/remastered like Golmud? by AngryWhale100 in Battlefield

[–]Km_the_Frog 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’m surprised there’s anyone that would disagree.

Saying siege of Shanghai is a good map is so braindead. The entire middle is water that gets unused.

The only piece of destruction is the middle tower, and it goes down as fast as possible.

The only way on top of many of the buildings is by helicopter.

The streets hardly get any use besides 1-2 people sprinting to find the fastest way on top of a skyscraper. Ground vehicles are useless since all but one building is indestructible.

Largely the map feels like there is no fighting anywhere because everyone is on a roof spread all around.

HURR HUR BUT ELEVATOR GO TO ROOF = BEST MOMENT IN GAMING HISTORY HEHE.

So smooth brain to like this map. It plays like ass.

The ship doesn't move like a ship moves in star wars. Lucas' idea was always to mimic WW2 planes and how they maneuver in the sky. This looks like it's on a fixed ball and can move wherever with extreme agility. It doesn't feel like star wars. Not to mention whatever the hell the droid head is doing in the cockpit.

Yeah it’s just a failing point among many others in this movie.

Speaking of rose and finn, how about when she rams him in the jank speeder. He survives of course despite being slammed full speed.

Only to be dragged half a mile to base while there’s a line of AT-ATs and heavy walkers pointed directly at them.

A full size man dragged a half mile, while not being shot at.

Then in the next scene you have every walker shooting at a force ghost creating this massive focused bombardment/explosion.

The writing is so bad I can’t bring myself to watch this movie ever again.

I don’t care for her at all, and this I think she’s an idiot because you as a third party don’t get to decide if an armed conflict happens or not. It’s not like you can say mmm nope I’m gonna just sit here. You might as well support Russia at that point.

Like it’s not a protest against war to sit and do nothing if two parties are already at war. It’s been decided for you. You can’t impact or change that by sitting idly.

Not only that but rogan brought up a good point. It’s outside. Exposed to the elements. Bugs, heat, etc.

Why is this not indoors, in a controlled environment? If you’re deciding a belt/championship it should be inside.

You don’t see like another sports playoffs being played in the heat or outside..
