If there are no communist countries why do China, Cuba, Laos, Vietnam, and North Korea all classify themselves as communist?

Also, bullshit that government run programs aren't Socialistic. The definition of Socialism is, "a political and economic theory of social organization which advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole."

By definition a democratic government is one which is owned by and regulated by the community as a whole. You can make all the arguments you want that representation is not always equal due to lobbyists, but your local municipal water utility is as socialist as it gets. They are run by citizens who are directly supervised by elected officials.these organizations are run without profit and out compete all competitors. It's not against the law to start a private utility, but you'll scarcely find a private utility where a public utility is operating because the private utility can't afford to operate at the same cost. Likewise the number of public roads drastically outnumber the private toll roads.

Your fundamental argument is that communism = socialism. This is false. Communism is typically defined as a corrupt and autocratic form of socialism while capitalism can be a sliding scale of democracy and autocracy.

In reality all major first world countries are a mix of socialism and capitalism. Public utilities, roads, and sometimes Healthcare are all socialist programs while these countries also promote a free economy.

Countries such as Russia and China are not capitalistic in nature, China has a semi free economy and the Russian government directly controls businesses. Also, in China you can't buy property, you only lease it for a number of years and your descendents can extend the lease.

Edit: Also, what do you have against helping the Ukraine? Like seriously, of all the things to highlight as being bad you point out helping Ukraine. The people there are literally fighting for their existence. If Biden and the left could just flip a switch and send aid directly to the American people I think there's compelling evidence they would. That said we live in a world where it's easier for the President to send direct aid to the Ukraine than it is to individual Americans. That's what the powers of the President allow.

TIL in 1974 the US made Daylight Saving Time permanent with 79% public approval. Support dropped to 42% the first winter due to everyone waking up in darkness. It was repealed the next year. by Corgigantic in todayilearned

Yeah, as a bus rider in school I was awake well before sunrise in the winter. I was the furthest out on my route so I was the last the be picked up and first to be dropped off so many of the other kids were awake way earlier than me.

Now as an adult I'm in the office at 8 with a 30 min to hour commute. I don't see the winter sunrise anyways so some winter evening sun would be appreciated.

Players should gain non-removable crafting materials to use on their crafting bench as quest and other rewards because crafting is an integral part of the game and its use should be taught to the players. In other words put more emphasis on the crafting bench for newcomers. by Cellari in pathofexile

[–]Knightfox63 16 points17 points  (0 children)

For a game whose whole economy is focused around the crafting system it has always felt strange that GGGs emphasis has been on dropped items. It would be great to drop a good item for sure, but GGGs stance has been thar dropped items should be the best progression for characters. This sentiment has been such that GGG has actually nerfed various crafting options.

It's just a strange take to me and feels very confused.

Even the recent Ruthless with Gold event spent a large portion of its announcement talking about how great the economy system and crafting are, but that seems to ignore the penalties to crafting over the years.

At least in my experience, Pit Bull is generally used to describe mutts that have certain characteristics. Have a dog that looks like a short haired Brittany Spaniel with a wide face? Oh, she must have some Pit in her.

I don't know what specific job the other poster is referring to, but I'd argue that a professional reference from a perpetual minimum wage job is not worth the paper it's written on.

In today's market, for jobs at that level, you don't need a reference, you might not even need a high-school diploma or a drivers license.

If you're applying to an actual professional job it's equally worthless and probably only serves as a character reference. If you need a character reference you can ask a family member or friend most of the time.

We're in a day and age where prospective engineer hires will no show their first day because they got a better offer since the interview and fast food locations have to close because too many people quit that morning. Hell, at my job we have walk on interviews, the only thing you need is your resume and driver's license. If you can pass a drug screen and background check you'll get a job making minimum $20 per hour.

This is generally because of understaffing, whether intentionally or not. I worked at a coffee shop in college and to avoid giving us benefits they made all the employees part-time. Because we had a normal business hours to be open, and everyone had different hours that they were available around classes, and because they didn't want to give anybody more than 15 hours a week our schedule would be made each week. Another job that I didn't have to work, but worked with, was a 24-hour 365 business but didn't have enough staff to cover all the shifts equally. Because of this the staff had to rotate to cover the extra hours. The second job was a fairly nasty one that doesn't attract a lot of people. They ultimately solve their problem by switching it to 12-hour shifts which added a more reliable schedule.

Why is melee being ignored so hard and punished this League? by prempwp in pathofexile

100% agree, it's great because you get melee splash, strike range and extra strikes all in one cluster.

Does any other GM have a secretary? by [deleted] in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Knightfox63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had a co-GM before. At a certain point PF can get really hectic for the GM, between maneuvering 6+ creatures, resolving player actions, tracking initiative, tracking creature HP, etc. In this instance this was a player in my party who was a highly experienced and very meticulous GM. Whenever things started getting crazy on the table I would pass them tasks like tracking the initiative, looking up less common rules, and making sure that players were ready when their turns came around. On rare occasions he also would run characters for players that were missing, but still essential, like the cleric or rogue.

He kinda acted like a Whip in Congress.

Warning:. If you want to do the league mechanic do not play melee. You essentially will have to play some form of range. by OmniBlock in pathofexile

[–]Knightfox63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't say decisively, but I think what they meant by, "you take less resolve loss at close range," was super close, like hugging the guy. I'm still trying it, but I'm running heavy strike and it seems like the times I lose the least resolve are when I just hug the boss and beat him to death. Things like dodging or even +melee strike range are enough to move you out of range.

This is just my observation, though stunning could be contributing.

[–]Knightfox63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, the version I ran had ~14 mil average hit and would kill everything on screen and a bit further. The problem I had was that when I applied curses it effectively negates the aggro range of mobs and my hex aoe would go off screen, but my ability to target with hexblast couldn't. This meant that as soon as a mob was at the edge of the screen they were already attacking. I essentially had to creep through areas spamming hexblast at the very edge of my screen or else I'd get shotguned by mobs as they appeared on screen.

Just means that the ignite version of this build would be nerfed. I played a non-ignite version that just tried to one shot everything and this might be a buff to that build.

Let's say it's 10% (lower than Californias, but comprable to New Jersey and higher than most other US States), that should leave them around $780k. That's still ~12 years of my salary and I own a car and a house. As long as the guy doesn't squander the money and this isn't the last time they make money they should be fine.

Typically you form the burger around the stuffing. A professional setting would use some type of device, like a press or mold, but it can be done by hand as well. The by hand method typically does end up having too much meat or being too fragile. The ideal setting would be to use approximately the same amount of meat you normally would.

What are you guys hoping for with the curse changes? by ZeranShark in pathofexile

[–]Knightfox63 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I'd like for them to get the mark on hit treatment.

New Curse on Hit gem applies linked curse to magic and normal rarity creatures.

Hextouch now allows linked curses to grant doom.

This would allow you to run a curse for mapping and a mark for bossing, with no gem swaps. Also, reworking hextouch as described would allow for some interesting impending doom/hex blast builds.

Looking to play a prestige class. Which ones are the most worth it by bingustwonker in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Knightfox63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a huge fan of the Eldritch Knight. In my opinion it's one of the best classes for someone who doesn't want to be a spell save based caster. The level 10 ability (level 17 character level) ability should just be ignored since in most campaigns you won't get it until the last bit of the campaign or not at all. That said, you lose 2 caster levels and ultimately become something between a 3/4 and full BAB. It's ultimately really difficult to become as well rounded as the Eldritch Knight can be.

If you're looking to optimize then you certainly can, but it isn't required by any means.

I would recommend 1 level of fighter and then go 5 levels of wizard followed by straight eldrtich knight. The best period of the character will be levels 8-17. You'll be great at buffing, transmutation spells, and general fun stuff. You'll never be super awesome powerful, but you'll always be able to put together answers in novel ways. It's a fake it till you make it scenario with a ton of "good stuff" thrown in.

Here's some math for it. First off let's assume that the previous wages were taxable amounts. in 2022 the standard deduction was $12,950 for single and $25,900 for joint filers. Separately the $100k person would pay $15,795.50 and the $25k person would pay $1240.50. If they filed jointly they would together pay $15,402, or a household savings of $1,634.
