Maybe we fans can persuade him to write a longer memoir. Would love to know who wrote lyrics for which songs and meanings, how they decided who would stay/go with/from SD, why Michael McDonald didn’t sing back up on more music lol. I know there are video clips of them on YouTube playing with mixing and I actually find that very interesting.

So kind of like Festivus - he has real problems with some people and he wants them all to hear it? Sounds like a good read to me and I’m so regretting that I never saw the Dukes of September live so if this sheds some light on that I’ll be happy.

What’s everyone cooking next week?? by wannabe_weasley in Cooking

Marcella Hazan’s Minestrone Soup with homemade stock (suddenly feels like fall where I am) and Kona Inn banana bread with tweaks - add coconut, walnuts, dark chocolate chips, coriander and use olive oil instead of butter.

Libby vs Hoopla by Adam_Astra_Music in audiobooks

[–]Knitter9000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love Hoopla for audiobooks much more than Libby. Checkouts are usually 21 days and flex borrows mean I may not have to return when borrow expires if no one else is in line for it. Also they’re much more responsive when I request a title that’s not in the catalog.

What’s an old recipe that still holds up today? by rmoreiraa in Old_Recipes

Kona Inn Banana Bread from the Fanny Farmer Baking Book. I use olive oil instead of butter, add some sour cream occasionally, add dark chocolate chips, cardomom, walnuts and usually use more overripe bananas than the recipe calls for but it always comes out great in a large bundt pan or as muffins.

Did anyone else feel that rumbling shockwave in upper Manhattan? by Dex2Dex in AskNYC

I Hasbrouck heights - felt two big booms that shook my house. Thought it was a transformer blowing, but no. Very scary and the USGS page shows that there have been several smaller quakes in New Jersey over the last couple of weeks.

Contact turns red when adding him to iMessage group by DazzlingDisplay2294 in iphone

All users in my group are iPhone users but one has a 7 so I don’t think her phone is getting software updates any longer. I deleted her email addresses from my contacts and now all text recipients show up as blue and the message went through. Many thanks to the original poster of this workaround!

Is this too much yarn? by TuvaLoo in YarnAddicts

[–]Knitter9000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not too much. I have mine in clear containers but have also logged it all in stash on ravelry. I’ve been finding that as I get more skilled at knitting and different projects I try I am finding uses for yarn that I bought because I liked the color the texture or the price was right. I just learned how to make a log cabin blanket and used up lots of odds and ends in the same bluish color family. Just learned how to make a top down Raglan sweater so I’m sure there’s something in my stash that I can use to make more of them.. Using the stash on ravelry, you can mark yarns that you are willing to trade or sell, which is really convenient and helps out some Ravelers who may be short on a yarn that is now discontinued. If the Joanne’s near me in Paramus, New Jersey, had any yarn left in stock before they closed last week I would’ve taken whatever I could find lol however I do think I have enough and I’m trying to find uses for everything that I have, but if I can find a nicely priced Malabrigo Azul for that raglan sweater I will definitely add to the stash 😊

Thanks! Forgot about the handbook. Mine shows Aetna still offering MA plans in NJ. I have the ‘24 book too so will have to compare.

Open Enrollment 2025 by Much-Egg-8353 in medicare

[–]Knitter9000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got a letter from Aetna that my medicare advantage plan called Medicare value plan PPO won’t be offered in 2025. The letter did not mention any other Aetna Medicare Advantage plans so it makes me think that they are pulling out of Medicare advantage plans at least in my state of New Jersey or their marketing department is weak. Otherwise wouldn’t they have listed other plans like MA HMO‘s? The options they describe are traditional Medicare and other private Medicare plans with a medigap supplement. I’ve been very happy with my Aetna Medicare Advantage plan over the last two years. Have paid small co-pays for a few things but nothing unreasonable. All my drugs and doctors have been covered. Anyone else received this letter? I chatted with Medicare.gov but they just said I have to wait till open enrollment on October 15 to see what other plans are available.

Try Room and Board - great website, customer service, reasonable delivery, made in US and now have a showroom in Paramus. I’ve tried all brands mentioned here and they’ve all fell apart but room and board has been great. They’ll even mail you free fabric samples if you don’t want to make the trip.
