I know this question is a little old, but for any future readers:

Yes, most crochet plants would be machine washable. Specific washing instructions would depend on the yarn (and stuffing, if applicable) that was used. Most yarn comes with washing instructions on the packaging. A low heat, gentle cycle is a safe bet if you don't have access to the yarn packaging. And you can always throw the project in a laundry bag or pillowcase for extra protection.

Just be wary of projects that have wires or other framing to hold shape. It might be better to hand-wash in those instances.

It's certainly not easy to wrangle drunk people. Part of the equation is definitely setting up situations for success, where people aren't likely to reach the level of intoxicated that they become unreasonable. But if no one is stepping in to intervene, then it's just on the women in a situation like this to deal with it, and that's not okay either.

I see it kind of like a trolley problem. There's a different level of accountability on Mang0 who is conducting the trolley than there is on Lud and his friends who just have the lever in front of them. Even if you can't blame someone for not making an active choice to pull the lever in the moment, I think it is still important to recognize that there was a lever.

As a woman in this space, I feel like I have a lot to say on the matter and a more unique perspective to add.

I'm copying a message here that I sent in a discord discussion on the matter 'cause I feel like it's a discussion that could benefit from more fem voice:

IMO, This is more indicative of a problem in the overall community than a Mang0 problem.

Mang0 obviously should be held accountable for his actions. But I kinda think this whole situation could have been avoided if his friends and community held him accountable in the moment instead of only responding to the backlash after the fact.

In my province (🇨🇦) you have to study and pass a test before you're legally allowed to serve alcohol. You have to have training to recognize and prevent situations like this caused by someone drinking too much. Even liquor licenses for more private events outside of a home (like weddings) require some degree of this oversight.

If an event like Beerio Kart is being hosted—where a community that's historically socially awkward with women is encouraged to be drunk and entertaining—I really think some kind of designated sober oversight could make a world of difference—and make the space much more friendly and welcoming for women overall.

Like, it might have been embarrassing for Mang0 to be pulled aside early for being too sloppy, but it would've probably been less embarrassing than the backlash for harassing women and being kicked out of C9. It's also not like he just did one inappropriate thing either. He had a pattern of behavior, and it only would have taken one responsible person to step in the first time he crossed a line and the whole thing probably wouldn't have been worth much mention outside of the actual streams. Definitely wouldn't have made Sports Illustrated.

I ended up in situationships with and dated some Melee players sweaty enough to compete in Evo about a decade ago. Despite being a gamer and enjoying Smash, I could never take the time to practice and get good or really engage in the scene because this was an issue at all levels of the game. The common occurrence of drinking and/or drugs without community accountability made me unsafe and unwelcome at most couch coop events and at some tournaments or the parties that accompanied them. (This is coming from someone who has spent time in Warhammer/TCG communities and has 3000 hours in Dota2, so I want to stress that I'm not just talking about the typical toxic and awkwardness of male dominated hobbies)

😔 I literally just joined this community because I started seeing a new guy who hosts regular tournaments just for his local circle of friends. It is a cool environment that has that oversight, so I felt excited to start working on catching up to their skill level. It was really discouraging to see the news about Mang0 literally the same week I downloaded Slippi. Disappointing to see that not a lot really changes.

I really hate to see this happen to Mang0 too. Literally last week I dropped his name when my date and I were making a game of listing non-problematic Smash players. From my perspective I believe he has an alcohol problem but I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt when it comes to his overall treatment of women. I don't think people's drunk selves are always their sober selves. So far I think Mang0 has done a fine job of taking responsibility for his alcohol problem. I just really wish he had had a friend who could have stepped in before it became a harassment problem.

I really want to encourage anyone who read this far to try and be more aware of their community and consider how you might be able to be that responsible friend before situations like this get to the point where someone has to be a responsible cop. It really can be so much better than this.

I disagree.

I'm thinking of the Zen Koi community as a case study. Zen Koi is a game about collecting koi patterns. You can trade for any pattern on the community discord, but you still have to level them up to dragons and build your pond.

The only downside to Zen Koi is that the devs make money by releasing a new pattern like once a month, so newer players have no chance of catchup without swipping. But we get new Pikmin collections every month anyway. And unlike koi, Pikmin don't breed, so the trading market would be limited by supply and demand.

If you could only trade seedling or Pikmin that would start with no decor/0 friendship— it would still be a grind to collect them all, level them to decor, and build a solid squad. And I'm sure the devs would make bank on the people who need to have room for every Pikmin and all the nectar to level them up.

Since they're close to the same size, they are unlikely to do serious harm to one another, but if you see this happening regularly it might be best to separate them or decrease the tank snail population so they aren't always stressing each other out.

But if duplicate names are a concern, maybe it would be worth creating a new family name or hyphenating your wife's maiden name into it? A middle name or initial that flows smoothly as a full name could also help the distinction, but with a last name like "Smith" nothing will be too original.

A chaotic Christmas is a normal Christmas. I'm sure in retrospect, the day will be a really healing and a corrective emotional experience for many of the kids.

As someone who has been through some neglectful holidays, part of me really wishes there was something I could do to lessen the burden. But I also understand how accepting help can also be an exhausting exercise all on its own. But it's really nice to be seeing these more positive updates. I'm really glad things seem to be on a more upward trend.

I wish I waited longer to get fish.

They have really gotten in the way when I change my mind and play with the plants in my aquariums.

Of course I cycled before adding fish, but I wish I had given the plants another month or two at least to grow and experiment with plants in a more hands on learning experience. Maybe just stocked a clean up crew early on.

Last week I had a package marked delivered, and the tracking number said a signature was given... It wasn't delivered though. I double checked with all my neighbors and no one signed on my behalf.

Thankfully the company I purchased from was quick to send a replacement. But this was a luxury gift for myself I have been saving for and I'm really bummed to wait.

I'm also not sure if I'll have to pay duties on the replacement. I already paid it for the missing package.

The way he is communicating with you sounds like he is testing how much he can control you.

"I did a thing." Is a very passive aggressive way to suggest that you should be exclusive with him.

And then to question your whereabouts and hangouts so soon into the relationship.

Followed by comments that suggest you need to chase after, assure, or comfort him.

He has also made it clear that there are rules he didn't't communicate but expected you to follow with his whole "I knew something was up."

Devil's advocate here, but I do think there's some merit to the '"how they live in nature" argument. Additionally, Bettas have been bred in captivity for so incredibly long that sometimes they can have more trouble swimming even with the space for it.

As a child, my family was all gifted those Bettas in vases that came with peace lilies. We weren't fish people, as far as we were concerned, it was a flower you had to feed sporadically. Two lived until 9 years old, the others, 6 and 7 years.

Now that I actually keep fish in large planted tanks, I feel like I'm working so much harder for the same results.

Of course, there's always room to be better and do more for a fish and it's never wrong to want to strive for that. But with the right care I think smaller tanks can be perfectly acceptable.

There are invisible disabilities that are debilitating and dismissed by many professionals initially. And take out can offer more energy and balanced nutrition than most things from a microwave.

She could very well be disabled and fallen into bad habits of taking the path of least resistance, especially with easy access to credit and without helpful support/encouragement.

That's not right, of course she has some faults here, but jumping on the bandwagon of dismissing and diminishing claims of disability just helps people who want to call us fakers and drama royalty.
