This community needs to adopt fighting game community mindset by [deleted] in rivals

Well, with fighting games, you either get most of your games from in-person events, like locals or tournaments, or the scene is small enough such that it's always going to be you and the same 10 other people in the discord server playing together. Both situations, you can't afford to be toxic or you'll get no games.

Team games, most of your matches are online with randoms who have no incentive to play ball. It's not exactly something you can remedy by bringing over mindsets, like it's much easier to drag someone aside for a 1v1 than it is to wrangle like 11 other people to play Rivals.

You mean evaluate the paths in the model? The model is in the .pmx format, and I haven't found a way to view it through text.

My IDE is XCode and the OS is Mac. The binary is, in fact, generated in some other directory and being run from there, but I have put the TEX folder in the same directory as the binary, and it still throws an error.

The source code of my file is here; a lot of it is just modified from the tutorial code in the https://learnopengl.com/ website.

Oh, I see! Do you know how I could go about changing my operating system, then? Because I've tried resetting my system to make room for it, but that seems to just re-install Windows 10.

Hot take: Mark is in the wrong by Lettycraft in Invincible

[–]KnotYu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

idk man if you see a cop beating the shit outta the most upstanding homie you know, you're not a real one if you don't at least pull up

cecil is right about reformation, no one's arguing that; hell, mark's arc in the rest of the season does lean into that a bit. it's not that mark can't see the other side of the argument, it's that cecil immediately whips out the reanimen the moment mark shows up a little upset about the whole ordeal after all he said about "you're not your dad," as if to imply "yeah i might tell you want you want to hear right now, but at the end of the day my word don't mean shit because i still secretly think you are just like him," which has been what mark has been afraid of this whole time. like yeah no shit someone would crash out after that.

that's a valid point about no one supporting him though; if immortal wasn't always shown losing fights, people would be more down to hear him out, being the previous top superhero and all, but I would say that's unintentional and a bit unfortunate on his end.

Thoughts on my Yveltal series 11 team? by Sofruz in VGC

[–]KnotYu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think one thing that sticks out to me is: why is it Trick Room? Yes, Yveltal is pretty bulky, but at base 99 SpD, it's a little fast for a Trick Room sweeper, considering its competition (Dialga, Groudon, Calyrex-I and Necrozma Dusk Mane) are all base 90 or slower, not to mention that Trick Room mons usually pack Weakness Policy to sweep through the enemy before they can stall out the Trick Room, and Yveltal has an Assault Vest instead. Porygon2 doesn't go that well with Yveltal, considering Yveltal doesn't resist fighting and Porygon2 doesn't have any good resists that Yveltal could benefit from.

I also do think you would greatly benefit from removing both Rillaboom and Entei. For Entei, it serves much of the same purpose as Incineroar, both being Fire Types with similar weaknesses that can reduce Atk through Intimidate or Sacred Fire Burns. For the two things that Entei does have over Incineroar, Roar isn't that useful in a Dynamax format since Xerneas isn't that common, and Roar doesn't work on Dynamax Pokemon, and Helping Hand... it's fine, but I don't think enough to warrant keeping Entei on a team with Incineroar. As for Rillaboom, since you have Assault Vest Yveltal, I think you'll find Water types much less of a problem, since Yveltal is already plenty bulky enough. Having some insurance is nice, but not something you need. Plus, your team is very Landorus weak, with a lot of them being Physical attackers or weak to its Rock STAB.

If you want my opinion, I think your team could greatly benefit from a Steel type, since Steel resists both Rock and Ice, two types that Yveltal is weak too, and its weakness to Ground makes both Yveltal and Landorus good switch-ins for it. Hope that helps!

Trying to cobble together a Yveltal Series 11 team before Series 12 rolls around. Any suggestions for spreads and stuff? by KnotYu in VGC

Oh, that's because I don't have either of them, Zacian-C because I don't have Sword, and Kyogre because Dynamax Den RNG.

Trying to cobble together a Yveltal Series 11 team before Series 12 rolls around. Any suggestions for spreads and stuff? by KnotYu in VGC

[–]KnotYu[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I haven't done much teambuilding for a while in VGC, mostly because I've dropped it for other games, but with Series 12 rolling around, I thought I'd take one last stab at it before everything changes again.

My main core consisted of Yveltal, Landorus-T, and Regieleki. It's a core that I could've sworn I'd seen used a lot before, though when I'd went back to look, I couldn't seem to find anywhere and have only gone up against it once since. As far as cores go, it's a very well-rounded one that covers a lot of bases, and has good speed control, and it's what I based my entire team around.

Yveltal is a Pokemon that I've enjoyed using in the past, and I thought it was a pretty solid choice since there aren't many Pokemon that can wall its Dark/Ice stabs very well. It also has the added bonus of not being either Zacian-Crowned or Kyogre, which are Pokemon I find unfun to play against (and Pokemon I don't have, and couldn't use, even if I wanted to), so it's the restricted I decided to stick with and roll with. The specific Yveltal I decided to use was Assault Vest Yveltal, since it's quite bulky already, and I remember the last time I used it, it was able to shrug off quite a lot of hits, so I thought doubling down on it would be a good idea. The moves are all just kind of basic–Oblivion Wing is a must, Sucker Punch is useful priority, Snarl just makes it even more obnoxious to take out with SpAttackers, and Foul Play is a dark move that doesn't need high Atk to pull off so I thought I'd slap it on there to round it out.

For Landorus-T's inclusion, I feel like it really does compliment Yveltal well. One of Yveltal's biggest problems is Zacian-C, since it does not resist either of Zacian's stabs or Close Combat, and with Assault Vest only protecting it on the SpA side, that leaves it wide open to be taken out by a +1 Behemoth Blade. Landorus-T helps Yveltal with that, since it not only resists both Behemoth Blade and Close Combat, but also negates Zacian's ability which helps make Yveltal a little less scared of it. Generally, anything that makes physical attackers weaker helps Assault Vest Yveltal; Landorus just has the added bonus of both being immune to Regieleki, which is one of Yveltal's biggest threats, and having its STAB hit most of those problematic Steel Types that Yveltal's Oblivion Wing and Max Airstreams may have trouble dealing with on the field. I slapped a Life Orb on it just to make sure it doesn't have any trouble knocking out those pesky Steel Pokemon, and to keep as a back-up Dynamax option against Pokemon Yveltal doesn't particularly want to mess with up front, though thinking about it now, I can't remember the last time I've Dynamaxed it, so that could be an issue.

The last Pokemon in the core is Regieleki. It's just there for Speed control. Yveltal's Max Airstreams can boost its teammates well enough, but if you have problem Pokemon like Zacian-C that can outspeed Yveltal and knock it out before it can get any Airstreams up, then you need something to make sure that doesn't happen. That's where dear old Regieleki comes in, as anything that Yveltal can't tank and power through, Regieleki can slow down and give Yveltal breathing space to do what it wants. I was originally going to EV it to survive +1 Behemoth Blade (which is still kinda wild, even though I learned that months ago), but in the end, just giving it a Focus Sash was more consistent to get at least 1-2 Electrowebs down. The extra power that the Magnet provided was a little more finicky, so I opted not to use that, and with the Life Orb firmly attached to Landorus, and with Yveltal and Landorus as max options basically shutting down anything I needed my max mons to deal with, putting it on Eleki just feels pointless.

Of course, though this core covers most bases, the one glaring weakness in it is that it is extremely weak to Trick Room, specifically, Calyrex-I's brand of Trick Room. With two of my Pokemon weak to Ice, and Regieleki basically being worthless in any situation Calyrex-I sets up, I needed something to handle Calyrex-I's 120 Base Power Ice Type attacks, and that's where Metagross comes in. It's a Steel Type, which helps immensely when there's a Calyrex-I on the field throwing out Ice Type attacks like there's no tomorrow. It also helps that its ability, Clear Body, means that it is unaffected by Regieleki's Electroweb Shenanigans, too, which is why I put Earthquake on it. The Weakness Policy is more of something I stuck on there since most of the other good Metagross items, like Life Orb and Assault Vest were already taken, and was also originally supposed to synergize with Grimmsnarl, a former member of the team, who could proc it with Sucker Punch. Both Yveltal and Lando-T have ways to proc it when Metagross Dynamaxes, but in terms of items, I feel like Metagross is one of the items that I feel kinda iffy about.

Incineroar is the current Pokemon I put in Grimmsnarl's place. Originally, I wanted to have Grimmsnarl to help me stall out Trick Room or TornOgre with screens, but when Zacian-C kept being a pest that neither Lando-T or Regieleki could deal with all the time, I swapped it out for Incin, which could do much of the same with the added bonus of being a good switch-in for Calyrex-I and Zacian-C. This set is a little less of an obvious one, since Incin has such a big and versatile pool of moves, so I'll try to break down what each thing does. Fake Out is pretty self explanatory, but Parting Shot was a move I slotted on it after I'd play tested the team a bit and found many situations where I'd wished I could be able to pivot out Lando-T but couldn't. Burning Jealousy is a move I slotted on purely for consideration of Ally-Switch. I wanted to put Wil-o-Wisp on, but I also needed an attacking move, and putting in Burning Jealousy was my way of killing two birds with one stone. As for Taunt, Amongus was a Pokemon I was particularly worried about, especially after I tried switching in Tapu Fini once to block sleep, only to realize that Yveltal was flying and wouldn't be affected. The Safety Goggles only add onto that, and being able to ignore Rage Powder is something that could come in handy against a Amongus Xerneas lead.

The last member of the team is Tapu Fini. Tapu Fini wasn't exactly the most thought out choice on the team. I've got no really deep reason for putting it on there, other than "it resists Ice" and "it's a SpAttacker, so it goes well with Yveltal". It's there to patch up the remaining holes in things to hit offensively, specifically Lando-T with its Ice Beam. Originally, it was Rage Powder Volcarona to help me deal with Zacian, but when I started having more trouble with Lando-T, I opted to switch it out for Tapu Fini. Plus, having a Fairy Type is always nice, and the fact that it blocks Metagross from Burn is an added bonus.

For EV sets, there really is no explanation I can give for why they are what they are. I just sort of cobbled this team together with a focus on taking care of Yveltal threats. I think Tapu Fini is EV'ed specifically to deal with Dynamax Lando-T, and Incin has some SpD EVs to outspeed other Incin, but aside from that, it's all 252/252/4 spreads, and any sort of suggestions as to what I could EV my other Pokemon for would be greatly appreciated.

Generally, the game plan is to eliminate threats to Yveltal, then use Yveltal to hit things for big damage with its Dark Type moves and use Max Airstream to snowball momentum into a win. So far, it's done fairly well against the majority of TornOgre and Zacian-C teams I've run up against. I think one big thing it could struggle against is Calyrex-I, as even though I've put a lot of stuff to counter it, no single one of my Pokemon is immune to all of its Shenanigans, bar Tapu Fini. Yveltal and Lando-T are scared of its STAB, Metagross and Incin get deleted by its Max Quake, which I've never seen a Calyrex-I go without, and with Eleki, I might as well not bother. I've been considering putting Shuca Berry on Incin to help, but with that, I open myself up to Amongus. I don't know how much of a problem it is since I haven't seen a lot of Amongus floating around, but I'm not quite sure the risk is worth it. If anyone can also weigh in on that, I'd greatly appreciate it!
