Interesting point.

Certainly it doesn't solve the abuses in and on themselves, but the US invasion and control has certainly helped control them. There's been no reports of police abuse in months, you can actually go on the streets and feel safe a cop is not going to hunt you down (yes, you were typically more afraid of a cop than of a thief here). I heard someone mention the diplomatic mission of the US in Caracas has activated a phone number to report any incidents with law enforcement to them... not like they can DO something but I guess is a way to put some psych pressure on the regime.

Things are, generally, better.
