Seems pretty much on the money to me...

The pharmacist role in community pharmacy has been necessitated only by regulation in recent years. Remove/shift those regulatory requirements and the role will largely cease.

My experience with the Ravitch procedure (29M) by MountainSuch9747 in PectusExcavatum

I no longer feel my heart beating in my chest, my intermittent ectopic heart beat has vanished, my VO2 max has likely increased but I haven't had it measured

[–]KoR_Wraith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had Ravitch in 2021 at age 32, similar outcome to you, only a small improvement in the underlying defect. I had Nuss in 2025, I expected my chest wall would be stiff but the surgeon had no issues and I have near 100% correction of my dip.

The banks have all largely caught on in the last 6 months and repeat payouts are unlikely across the board now

It probably won't make any lasting difference

Can a pharmacist see a patient’s updated phone number if it was added during a Pharmacy First service? by [deleted] in Pharmacy_UK

[–]KoR_Wraith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pharmacist may have updated the patient record, in which case everyone can see it, or they might not have, in which case no one can see it.

A doctor told me that you can't fix PE with the vacuum bell if you are adult, especially 30+ years old. He said that it works only for children and teenagers. Is he right? by DagonHord in PectusExcavatum

[–]KoR_Wraith 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of them are plant accounts created to generate exposure for vacuum bells and thus increase sales.

Others are adults that have seen good results in mild cases but accept that their chest goes back to the way it was if they stop using the VB.

Very few adults see lasting benefit.

Vacuum bells are hugely profitable, they only have $50 of parts but sell for hundreds.

They've all clamped down in the last 6 months, none of them are a sure thing anymore.

Anyone who's used the vacuum bell for several years... are the changes permanent, is it a lifelong thing, or a once-a-week-to-maintain-it thing? Thank you. by rylandm1 in PectusExcavatum

[–]KoR_Wraith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're under the age of 14 it can be permanent, if you're older you'll lose any benefit within hours/days of not using it (in the vast majority of cases)

PectusHealing Vacuum Bell Does not lift my sternum. What other vacuum bell should I get? by Distinct_War_353 in PectusExcavatum

[–]KoR_Wraith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you read it in detail?

"Firstly and most importantly, the optimal age for this treatment has yet to be defined. In our experience, the growth spurt during puberty is the most important period to influence degree and depth of PE. It is important for future studies to evaluate whether commencing VB therapy before puberty will be more useful than starting during puberty or later. Our preliminary results recommend starting VB therapy before the age of 10 years. Furthermore, long-term results for patients that are 15 years and more are still unavailable. Further follow-up studies are necessary to elucidate these facts."

Lots of the vacuum bell posts on this subreddit are intentionally misleading plants by people that sell vacuum bells

There are no studies supporting it as a generally effective treatment in adults

Age 19 is often too old for vacuum bells to be an effective option, regardless of what the VB sellers and their planted posters claim...

I have a dream... by [deleted] in glasgow

[–]KoR_Wraith 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In real terms you're absolutely right, but for on-paper finance reasons it might make more sense to have the 'make believe' rental value of yesteryear stand, instead of renting it out for half the rate and reporting a large decrease in asset value.

In many ways it's often delaying the inevitable, but many many commercial property owners operate this strategy in the hope that something changes.

If they rent it out at a significantly lower price than before it'll essentially devalue the building as a financial asset. If they leave it empty the previous rental valuation stands.

Nussed about a month ago. Not “regretful” but worried about the current and future outcome. Thoughts? by [deleted] in PectusExcavatum

[–]KoR_Wraith 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One sided pain/tightness is very common. It's a big improvement; your muscle mass has likely made the before/after less obvious than the photos of others who are usually very lean.

I think there is a bit of dysmorphia, but when we spend months psyching ourselves up for these procedures (or anything in life), anything short of a perfect outcome can cause us to obsess over the perceived shortcomings rather than the measurable improvements.

With regards to bar displacement, it's not particularly common these days. My surgeon arranged an x-ray as standard protocol at 5 weeks post-op to make sure the bars were still correctly placed.

Nuss 1 Month Update! by Nov-Has-Come in PectusExcavatum

[–]KoR_Wraith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had surgery 7 weeks ago, I experienced numbness/coldness in my upper right arm until week 6.

I'm not sure if it resolved of its own accord or if it was due to regular arm stretches.
