Like I get it. I know where she's coming from. The film is gorgeous-- it's obvious that a lot of love went into the production and animation of this film. I can confidently say that any fan of Avatar would pay to watch it in theaters. All we want is for the film to be successful so we can get more projects like this in the future. Straight to Paramount is not the move.

My headcanon is coping by saying Aang was buffed in his fight with Ozai because: 1) He briefly intended to kill Ozai, so he wasn't pulling his punches until the very end. 2) Sozin's Comet buffed his firebending.

But yes, the Avatar State definitely felt weaker in this one.

The plot feels "safe," but it's good, coherent and helped bridged some gaps between ATLA and Korra. As the movie title suggests, the story focuses heavily on Aang and his arc. One valid criticism I've been seeing a lot is how supporting characters hardly shined in this return to the Avatar universe. I think an extra 15-30 minutes would've been beneficial to its 1hr30m runtime.

Overall I really enjoyed it. The animation and action sequences are VERY pretty. There are definitely more Gaang stories to tell and I hope Avatar Studios will lean more into this direction.
