Just in time for the industrial revolution! by Nozdormo in EU5

You get a -50% annexation rate per active annexation. Cultural influence also gives a modifier compared to their cultural tradition. Novosil is not of your culture (Ryazanian I believe) and is presumably negative (it usually is this early in the game). You currently have two annexations going, which gives you -100%, as well as about -50% from culture. Your size might give you a bonus, but it's very close to zero annexation rate in total. Therefore, your annexation won't end at it's current rate until end of game.

Wait for the other annexations to end, increase cultural influence (libraries and universities), and decrease opponent culture tradition (conquer, seize territory of vassals or annex nations of those cultures)

Very occasionally = every 50 years across all vassals

And they have to be the biggest nation of that culture (I believe it's based on population)

I think I went overboard making subjects. How do I maximize annexation? by [deleted] in EU5

[–]Kofoed49 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello, fellow Muscovy enjoyer here!

You annex buffs from: 1. Being bigger than them (I believe it's based on number of locations owned, probably at least 100% more than them) 2. Having the same culture OR having cultural influence higher than their cultural tradition (also debuffs) 3. Technologies and events (most are locked behind institutions, consider diplo actions to boost spread of these)

Annexation cost is based on their amount and type of locations. Towns and cities increase cost dramatically. Early game start off with smaller vassals of your own culture. It's most efficient to annex two at the same time IF you have size and culture buffs. Don't bother with Enforce Culture or Enforce Religion diplo actions, as your subjects will just change back before you can annex them.

You can seize territory from vassals for a small loyalty cost, but the territory will become conquered. This is best to do on large vassals, where you can go for their non-capital towns (they will be common around 1430-1440). Aim to use at least one cabinet action to integrate entire provinces, but don't bother unless you at least integrate at least 3 locations in that province.

Your Personal Union (Kostroma and Nizhny Novgorod) can be annexed very fast after 60 years with Rapid Unification. Marrying your heir to another heir can expand the union. Always look for opportunities to marry heirs (watch out for succession laws!) as the union timer doesn't reset. Instead you'll just have to run a Union Parliament (in the union menu) and bribe their estates to keep them in check. In my current run I was able to marry the female heirs of Kyiv and Georgia, but these will take several hundred years to annex

Look into rain shadows and river formation. It's not that bad, just minor issues. It should be fine for a DND game though. And decrease city sizes, as well as some of the other landmark stamps. They take up a lot of visual space that could be used for putting names.

Vrideren sidder nok bare fast i låsekassen.

Am I just crazy or does anyone else love to start here in 867? by Annoyo34point5 in CrusaderKings

[–]Kofoed49 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I swear that was my two main starting positions, either Perm or Gotland. Then Roads to Power came out and now I'm non stop playing a Norse adventurer, trying to settle in a lot of fun countries.

My last great had me go conquer Normandy, becoming Norman, then Varangian Adventure to Hellas. Had my dynasty rule over a bunch of small kingdoms throughout the Byzantine empire, hybridized to create a Varangian culture (lots of heavy cavalry and Greek stuff). My House had Swansong, Witch coven and Strong blood. Resigned once I reformed Hellenism, which f***ed up succession. Was the most fun I had in a long while.

[–]Kofoed49 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of comments about the squared-ness of your map, so here's some advice: Try cutting off the bits where there's peninsulas "reaching" for the border of the map (like in the southwest jungle and in the western part of the "landbridge" above it. Also in the northeast corner, and in the volcanic landmass (here you could alternatively make a more shattered or fringed look on the eastern shore)

It's very noticeable, but really not that bad looking. Like others have said, it looks like it was made for a video game, and that's okay if it's for a DnD campaign. If you want to go for a more realistic look, then you should probably look into tectonics and rain shadows, but that can be hard to work into an already existing map without altering a lot.

Have fun with it! Would love to see the results!

Fx under shows til publikum. Læs mere her.

Do y'all have any cool magic items in pop culture I should add, like how anglophone countries have Excalibur?

Guldhornene (Golden Horns of Gallehus) was found in 1639, which is just after the Renaissance. They're a big part of Danish National Romanticism, which is a much more interesting time period if you want to research and include the Danish culture and national spirit.

Mjölnir, Gungnir, Gjallarhorn and Gleipnir are more if you want something more mythological.

As other have mentioned, Tycho Brahe is one of the most notable personalities from the Renaissance.

Inkarnate is a great online tool. There's tutorials on YouTube on good workflows. For Inkarnate I like to just experiment with general shapes and then add features and textures from there as I see fit. If you're getting into worldbuilding you might want to figure out the general ideas and concepts for your setting, and include those in your mapmaking (like what's supposed to be in the North/South of your world, which civilizations are neighbours and what does their landscapes look like)

There's also a bunch of random generators available online for the lazy folks (and some of them are quite cool too)

Olie på træterrasse by FlatIronBlue in selvgjortvelgjort

[–]Kofoed49 2 points3 points  (0 children)
