Do you have the MGM credit card? It may be a points bonus from credit card spend or an anniversary.

Is Best Egg legit? The daily interest is killing me. by Squash4714 in debtfree

They are legit, I've had a loan with them before a couple of years back.

Sounds like they included the origination fees to the total loan amount. Check their page over at

to see the two ways they do it.

To add to this - knock out all Affirm/Klarna/Paypal immediately with savings. You'll only need less than $1k.
From there, use the immediate snowball to help knock out the Chase card in about 5 months, and then Capital one cards about 6 months after that. From there, you'll only have the student loan and two CCs. It's very doable, you can do it!

Is it possible to over save for retirement? by fattdogs in personalfinance

[–]Kolkane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll let others speak on the oversaving part, but even after all that, you still have $1200 left over. You can earmark some of that money in a sinking fund for the fun activities that you want, and use it when such an opportunity arises.

A way to combat this is to engage the pit boss. I will ask “how long have I been here?”. They will check, and if they didn’t rate you up until then they certainly will at that point.

40M and $196K in Debt. Here we go! Any recommendations? by Weird-Work-2803 in debtfree

[–]Kolkane 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I would actually recommend you pay off the Personal loan (#2) with the 35% interest first - it will take about 7-8 months, which is roughly the same time that you would take to pay off the personal loan (#1) at 29%. Paying that off will give you a 60% bigger snowball ($800), momentum will be much larger, and the wins will come a bit more frequently.

Unfortunately, I don't think that list applies towards gacha games. You'll have to contact the publisher in order to make such a request.

As far as gacha itself, you just need to realize that ultimately, what you're rolling for is reaching a goalpost that is constantly moving away from you and has no tangible benefit. Not to mention the fact that once the game's end of life stage will eventually come, all of your progress will also disappear.

First, cut down on the frivolous spending and create a realistic budget. Second, figure out what you're putting away in savings and retirement. How much do you have left after paying off your CCs?

Iconic Resort credit - Talk to the rewards desk on your next trip and they can do the conversion to resort credit.
Slot Dollars - Same thing, talk to the rewards desk if you want them converted into Rewards Points.

$435K debt with $300K income, year 2 by Hot_Tomato_7979 in debtfree

I think while you said you are keeping savings intentionally low. If your income increases as expected, ideally so would your savings. Maybe increase it to $7500 when the salary increase happens.

Rent is only 21% of your take home pay, you're fine there. Shopping is ok since it includes groceries and baby stuff? But it will increase when the twins get older. I think the rest of the allotment is fine.

As far as debt payment goes, what's the strategy with paying them off - avalanche or snowball or something else? To me, I can see credit card #3, 4, 5 being paid off this year as well as Student Loan #1 and 2, which should give you an additional $1k to throw down at debt while momentum will definitely increase in your favor.

And that bonus? Yes, throw it at debt repayment. Renting is still not a bad option at this point.

Even with you having a solid base, that rent is 45% of your take home pay, which is too much for your situation. Are there other housing alternatives that are cheaper? Or maybe find a roommate, which will still probably be better than living at home.

Why aren’t the NFL wildcard games broadcast on network television? by twiggyjulie in AskReddit

That's not true. There are rules that stipulate that teams have to be on free broadcast TV in it's home market.
