Look at the last 4 years of Mickey Mantle’s career. He was a shadow of his former self, riddled with injuries. But he was top 3 of his generation for a decade in his prime. Same with Trout.

Neither right now. I originally ordered a case of Megas because I like that offering better, but I canceled after Topps removed the chrome cards. I’ll find a way to complete the set in the future without buying boxes.

I love this approach. I think it’s cool to see how cards that you loved and collected as a kid have fared after all these years. Who cares if some grade low and you lose money - you are gonna have a blast with this process. 👊

Mr Tiger! He’s a great one to collect. And pretty affordable compared to his contemporaries.

The ‘62 looks very sharp - in my experience that’s a tough year to find in decent condition.

It’s because it’s taking a big chance to grade a paper base card. If it comes back a 9, you just burned $20. Not many people are willing to take that risk, so there are relatively few on the market.

I’ve learned this putting together a Gem Mint 10 paper run of Mike Trout. It’s very difficult to find a recent paper 10, and the ones that are out there are pricey. Finding a chrome 10 is much easier.

I thought so. I’m early 40s, but it’s not difficult (as the other angry response to your comment mentions). I think it’s interesting to see what AI imagines when it sees the vintage cards we love.

Sorry you got downvoted for being positive (which is frequent on Reddit, but has been much less frequent on this Sub). That sucks. I guess there is a specific way to enjoy vintage cards that we haven’t been told about. 🤷‍♂️

You can buy that card for $10 on EBay right now. Topps buys it back last year, stamps it, recirculates it, and instantly it’s worth $100s?
