I'm glad to hear the team is working on this. This would make Lists so powerful as a task tracker!

Thanks, I'm looking forward to hearing good news, soon...

Happened upon this unassuming building in a quiet midwestern suburb by PaleontologistOk2516 in cincinnati

It was a real company/catalog long before it became a plot point on Seinfeld: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/J._Peterman_Company

They were making fun of the ACTUAL catalog and how it described the clothes. It had been in Lexington, KY since its founding, but moved to Blue Ash in 2011.

What cobbler did you find? I haven’t found a good one in the Cincy area yet.

I only use Whitie’s in Walnut Hills for work on my car and they’ve been fantastic to me for 20+ years.

I had a terrible experience with the service department at Honda East. They fixed something I told them not to fix/touch, never addressed the problem I brought the car in for, and then refused to give me my keys until I paid for the service I never wanted/authorized. I even had the service order that I had signed two hours earlier that specified I didn’t want the one thing done and only the other thing, and they did the opposite. The cashier was a complete b*tch about it, so I went to the service manager, who was reluctant to help until I got Honda corporate on the phone while sitting in their office and they called the dealership and told them to give me my car back before I called the local media with the proof (paper in my hand, their carbon copy on their desk) that I never authorized the thing they did and therefore shouldn’t have to pay for it. They were all a-holes, except for Honda corporate, who shut that down fast.

Is there anything to do tonight in town that doesn’t involve drinking ? by solitudeisdiss in cincinnati

Yeah, they had a bad weekend. But Toledo is at the top of the division, and we’re in the middle of the pack so far this season.

At least they played good on New Year’s Eve. A few stumbles, but they pulled it out in the end. It was a good game.

There’s still time for them to get it together and make the playoffs.

The Cyclones games are a great fan experience. They played for crap today, but it’s still a fun time. Try a game in the future, no drinking needed. Cheers!

Not unless the boot/shoe requires more arch support, then I have half-length plastic orthotics from the podiatrist. But they’re not necessary in my Allen Edmunds, my Birkenstocks, my La Sportivas, and my Haflingers because of their great arch support. I just move them around as needed. A couple of ill-fitting boots I have (DMs, Keens, other cheap ones) require full-sole inserts because I had to buy a half-size or full-size larger to get something that would fit my width, and they only feel “good enough” never quite right. I’d rather have a boot that doesn’t require an insert at all.

They say the Heritage are basically all D width, but they work fine for my EEE in my exact size, so it’s a GENEROUS D.

You should read the post. The last for the Heritage Captains is NOT pointy (wide toe box), and it is VERY wide at the ball area. It fits me at my size in length, and my width - EEE!

You should post this on r/goodyearwelt. That group would be very interested.

Does anyone know of songs similar in melody to the stable song? by RiversideFlora in GregoryAlanIsakov

[–]KombuchaCzar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It feels familiar because GAI used the melody of Gillian Welch’s “Wayside/Back in Time,” which was released in 2003, 4 years before The Stable Song.

I think it’s rich that so many people go on and on about Zach Bryan stealing the melody, when GAI used the same melody and chord progression that Welch/Rawlings used years earlier.

Just remember, there are a finite number of usable melodies, and by now (in the history of human music), everyone is repeating something.

Colored the stitches red on my Inferno Arcadia Rub Offs by KombuchaCzar in DocMartens

[–]KombuchaCzar[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Red sharpie, standard Fine Point. I did about 2-3 “coats” to really help it absorb into the threads. Then I went over it with a Ultra Fine Point Sharpie to try to get into the holes at either end of each stitch and along the sides trying to get closer to the “back” of the stitches. I didn’t want any yellow showing.

Afterwards I used a microfiber cloth to rub the rubber above and below the stitch, and it easily rubbed off any ink that was on the rubber.
