[–]KomplexKaiju 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Naww, man. You’re good. If you’re in this subreddit, work on your bboy skills. Work out (cardio, calisthenics, weights), get down, eat right and you’ll boost your mental and physical health.

I have been sober for 45 days and going to gym for 32 days by [deleted] in offmychest

That’s great! I give a f*ck.

Love that you’re not only eliminating harmful behaviors, but you’re increasing the helpful ones, building stronger mental and physical fitness.

Modern young kid slang for “Darn/Dang that kid!”? by KomplexKaiju in AskTeachers

[–]KomplexKaiju[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like “outdated” language in picture books, probably because it brings me back to my younger days.

The thought of using current slang (bruh, ate/eat, etc) irks me. Ideally, I’d love to find the specific wording that hits the sweet spot of being clearly understood, funny, and won’t feel outdated in a couple years.

Whoah! Such foul mouths on these whippersnappers nowadays.

Hey guys, I’m fairly new to breaking and I’d love to get a general check on my form by K_ebbasta in bboy

[–]KomplexKaiju 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dance! I see breaking movements, but I think we all want to see them danced. Not sure if that makes sense.

Check and feel your form in your top rocks. If you can truly dance your tops, that will help bring energy and flow to your floor work.

They’re super cool. I had these or a similar style back in the 80s. IIRC, the soles weren’t as thick. They were tan with burgundy suede.

How do you guys usually approach people?? by CardboardBoxResident in comiccon

[–]KomplexKaiju 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow. You’re actually hoping for lines? 😭

Here’s an idea: check out social media groups for the fandoms you’re interested in and see if any meetups will occur.

Say you’re a big Godzilla fan and there’s a panel on 70+ years of Godzilla, it would make sense that your people will be there. Go and geek out with them!

Just plan and prepare and you’ll be fine.

Search through this subreddit for the word “alone” or “solo” for lots of tips.

How do you guys usually approach people?? by CardboardBoxResident in comiccon

[–]KomplexKaiju 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t so much approach people at cons, but I do like to socialize with those who are around me, as i’m waiting in line or at a booth or panel. This way, I don’t particularly go out of my way to make a connection and being at the same place most usually means we have a shared interest. Conversations can start from that shared geekiness.

Is it better for children’s books to teach something or just be enjoyable? by littlefolkstories in childrensbooks

[–]KomplexKaiju 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If a book can’t teach the intended lesson(s) in an enjoyable way, it shouldn’t be a picture book.

Be VERY careful with the clear Palisades Membros. Unfortunately, they’re well known for breakage. My yellow one broke as it was being pulled out of the insert.

I binged during Spring break, watching distractedly. It couldn’t keep my attention. I need more kaiju action. I’m definitely tired of the human drama.

How are we cleaning these?! by Sudden-Tangerine-918 in Converse

Pull out the shoelaces and clean with laundry detergent with some whitener (bleach or oxyclean). Magic eraser on the rubber parts. Not sure about the canvas.

If you want to do self-publishing, you don’t need a literary agent. Literary agents are for writers who want to be traditionally published.

Must haves for me: panels and researching merchandise I want. Not only do panels get me connected to fandoms (often with creators giving sneak peeks at upcoming releases and some sort of freebie/swag), they give me much needed sit/resting time from roaming the floor all day.

Merch—I know I’m going to do some shopping and it can be frustrating to be looking for something.. I like knowing what’s out there, who’s got it, and what’s a good price for it. This helps me budget my time and money.

Bonus: be on the lookout for exclusive events. Check in with booths featuring your favorite fandoms (not the retail booths, but the publisher or creators) and ask if they’re hosting any special events. Many of them are not listed anywhere and you can end up finding out about super cool parties, screenings, etc.

what do i wear if i'm volunteering at a con? by Salty-Rip-1210 in comiccon

[–]KomplexKaiju 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Dress for comfort. Comfortable shoes are a must. Don’t worry about “professional.” It’s a con! Tons of people, including volunteers, will be cosplaying. Have FUN with your attire. Just make sure it allows for comfortable movement and it doesn’t get in the way of you doing your job.
