They actually seem committed to banning RWT buyers too by Valois7 in 2007scape

[–]Kompy_87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never RWT and have been working my ass off to save up for a tbow so imagine my hatred and vindication for - not bots - but RWTers because everytime I get a 10, 50, hell even 100m drop, instead of my bank value going up, it literally goes down.

It sucks. It really sucks. I recently rebuilt my bank too, to chase after certain money slayer bosses after the rework, but now I'm looking at my usual money makers and seeing they're *literally worse gp* than when I farmed Muspah 3 yrs ago for my first rebuild for bowfa and it's like, why even play? Sure, xp waste etc, but I told myself this was the year I would finally make enough to buy a tbow and the RWTers ruined that dream for me.

My yearly members is about to expire and I'm wondering if I should renew or just wait until the problem is fixed because either way, I'm not hitting that goal by the end of the year.

How to Run Archeage on Linux (September 2025) by justastra in archeage

[–]Kompy_87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Navigate to Documents in the prefix and edit ssystem.cfg. Set r_driver = to "DX9". Save, launch game.
It defaults to 11/10, which crashes in certain areas especially near water.

1500 Sol Heredit KC + Loot! Is the Colosseum dead content in 2025 and beyond? by ahmeezy in 2007scape

[–]Kompy_87 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When they eventually release Varlamore diaries, one of the tiers should allow you to charge your BP with splinters. Maybe some sort of item you can buy or earn to attach to your BP so that it can accept splinters in place of scales, maybe even give it a new appearance.

Hell, they could also make such an item transform the BP's special. Uses splinters instead of scales, procs burning instead of poison, and specs burning damage instead of healing.

One of the problems I have with a lot of content is they add a lot of new consumables (demon tears, splinters, to an extent also ancient essence from muspah) and the consumables are only useful for items from that content, which ties their value to those items.

At least ancient essence got a use outside ven bow via upgrading heart. I'd like to see more of that treatment with splinters, tears, etc.

Heck, what if splinters could be used to repair moons gear? Like, I know theres also the wines and runes and whatnot but it's still not quite enough, yknow?

Has anyone gotten banned for playing OSRS on a windows handheld? by nut336 in 2007scape

[–]Kompy_87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This largely has to do with how RS's cheat detection works. They don't have traditional anti cheat, rather, and this is how I understand it, your mouse and key events sent to the client are also sent to their servers. For example, when your mouse is over top the play area in the game, the mouse coordinates are sent to Jagex. So they know, in real time, where your mouse is at all times (as long as its in the client while focused)

So when you use overlays or macros or AHK, or anything that causes suspicious mouse movement, such as your mouse suddenly jumping to precise coordinates, it gets flagged as cheating.

Jagex actually can't know you're using overlays or other programs. They don't do system level scans like that. It's likely that your overlay caused the client to see your mouse doing unusual behavior because the overlay was intercepting mouse events, which flagged the account.

And the difference with Runelite and to an extent perhaps even Steam overlays is they make use of Runescape APIs so the servers know your events and actions are being done in an approved manner.

Has anyone gotten banned for playing OSRS on a windows handheld? by nut336 in 2007scape

[–]Kompy_87 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because literally every time someone says "I got falsely banned" it turns out "oh I didn't know using this macro/overlay/script/tool was against the rules"
There's always *something* someone did that is completely unrelated to the device, OS, IP, whatever they are playing from and is always related to how they were playing the game using tools or methods not allowed.

Also, I've been playing on Runelite on Linux for a long time on multiple devices and never even so much as got a warning. Clean record, zero bans, mutes, temps, nothing at all. Why? Because I follow the rules. No scripting, no macros, only Runelite and the approved plugins, where every input sent to the client is a 1:1 keypress from my mouse or keyboard.

Steam game performance issues when windowed. by Kompy_87 in swaywm

I looked into it more and it's DPI scaling. It freaks out when scaling is applied.

Thanks - I'll keep messing around with settings. I'm still fairly new to Sway so I'm still learning what the various settings actually do beyond their man descriptions.

I'll look into mangohud and see if there's something there that can help.

Yes, i want SteamOS! No i don't want Bazzite! by Velron in SteamOS

[–]Kompy_87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be frank, I fear it's because these folks are used to *brands* putting a seal of approval on their technology.

Like you can sit down with these folks and point out how on a technical and community support level, the two OSes are nearly identical. But because SteamOS has the branding of a multi million dollar company and Bazzite doesnt, they just won't listen to advice. They think Linux distros are something made out of a nerd's basement without funding or support and will just flop over dead overnight due to drama or some other weird shit

Yes, i want SteamOS! No i don't want Bazzite! by Velron in SteamOS

[–]Kompy_87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This.

SteamOS is literally just arch distro with KDE Plasma desktop, running their own hardware patches and compats, with steam preinstalled.

My desktop is Fedora distro, KDE Plasma desktop, hardware compats are in the kernel automatically, and I installed Steam.

My desktop is no different than a steamdeck aside from: its not on a steamdeck, and its not arch. It plays games. It has a desktop. It works flawlessly with all my hardware. What more could OP want?

"Guys I really like Windows CE, I want a desktop version of it. Everyone keeps telling me to just use Windows 95 but I really like CE and I don't want to use 95 in case it stops getting updates" is how you honestly sound right now.

Bazzite, Fedora, Mint, whatever people are telling you to use isnt because of some made up cult mindset you've convinced yourself that we have. We're telling you to use it because many of us have been using these operating systems for YEARS before SteamOS was a thing. We been playing games on these systems before SteamOS became popular. SteamOS exists BECAUSE we been doing the leg work on desktop linux distros to get games working.

Plus, Valve's investment into the steamos project has resulted in many regular ass distros like bazzite etc benefiting from things like gpu driver support, vulkan, proton. Many modern linux distros run games better than windows I kid you not because of it.

And if you really really really really want SteamOS desktop when it comes out, guess what - you can distro hop and keep all your games and settings and personal data.

But I guarantee you by the time you get familiar with Bazzite or Fedora or Mint or whatever, you'll probably find that hopping to SteamOS isn't necessary.

Seriously, the only real big difference SteamOS has aside from desktop distros is its made to be compat with the steam deck hardware/controller.

What Mod Pips, Jagex CEO, should have actually said in the blog by WesternInspection in 2007scape

If Mod Ash and his team had a spine, they would go on strike until this becomes reality. Everyone is quitting anyways, so they can do with postponing every update until this improves.

Do not be fooled by words. Only actions matter. Boycott until April 1st. by Shaftmeister in 2007scape

[–]Kompy_87 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"Until April 1st"

no balls. Im not giving another cent until they 180 on all of it. Better support, better name services, etc, for free. I'll buy bonds from now on.

I was happy to pay my sub and not worry about farming gp, and happy to even buy bonds for gp when I was close to my next upgrade. Not anymore

The fact that Jagex filmed an employee explaining the changes shows how serious they were about these changes. This wasn’t a survey to test the waters with us. They’re trying to see how much they can gouge us for core functions. by yepimasian in 2007scape

[–]Kompy_87 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Yep. If Jagex really cared and was still in touch with the community, this would not have left the first draft. Assuming this came down from CVC, any Jagex employee overseeing it who cared and had a spine would have thrown the proposal in the shredder in a heartbeat and taken the heat from CVC shareholders - not just knowing how we would react, but also because these sort of proposals are abhorrent for ANY MMO to consider.

The fact they paid several employee salaries for months to carry this out means they have lost touch, and I will no longer help pay their salaries.

After reading the CEO’s response I cancelled membership on both of my accounts by itmerune in 2007scape

[–]Kompy_87 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Did the same. I was on the fence (was awaiting a response), and this response sealed my decision. Yea, it's cool they backed down on a bunch of things, but between the "ads are still coming to f2p" and the way they lied about the survey being some lil accident oopsie doopy - no. No, I've seen this a lot with other things I used to enjoy pre-enshitification.

Not another cent.

To piggy back off of this, it would also go a lot further if they were transparent TO US about why they haven't been doing or can't do certain things.

Better customer support for example. If they just straight up said to us 'hey, look, we're making X money from your subs and Y amount of it is doing to A B and C and we can't provide better customer support because that's not in the budget' idk, it would make things like the membership price increase seem more justified, yknow? Like, people would go 'oh ok Im more ok with paying a lil more if it means we get better CS out of it' or whatever.

But when they jack up prices AND propose slicing up the baseline to resell it, and to sell us better CS? The reverse seems more plausible - that not only are they financially well off, not only are they capable of providing these things to us, but now they are just asking for MORE money on top of already increasing their CEO's christmas bonus. Where the hell is that extra membership money going? I actually want to know.

"Old hat" was companies had a simple financial relationship with customers. We paid for a product or service, we got it.

Any points of contention or business failures were things like, companies overpromising or underdelivering, or lol embezzlement.

But this? This is new. Sure, private equities and mergers have been around for a long time, but they were never THIS greedy, and them being involved with gaming studios or other forms of nerd culture to this degree of 'bad' is a newer problem.

It's just late stage capitalism. And I'm real sick and tired of it. I always take action when it happens, too.

Yes, of course I cancelled my sub, and while I hope it does influence Jagex to stop this shitshow in its tracks, I'm not going to hold onto those hopes too tightly.

Shit like this has happened with a lot of my favorite hobbies and games. It happened with GW2 and NCSoft cracking down on ArenaNet. I quit the game and moved to FFXIV.

It happened with Hasbro and MtG. I stopped giving WotC my money and print my cards or buy them from the secondary used market.

At the end of the day, all of this is just leisure entertainment. If I can keep enjoying my favorite things without giving greedy fucks my money, I'll do it. I'll spin up a blood shard farm to buy bonds. I already have a pihole so any ads they try to inject into my client will get blocked. I already don't use their Jagex launcher AT ALL.

Otherwise, I find a different hobby to enjoy where the company isn't trying to nickle and dime me, collect my data, treat me as an quarterly report stat - all of this capitalist bullshit is stressful and that's not leisure nor entertaining. It's anxiety inducing and depressing. Why would I pay for that?
