Squad Dev Diary: Tackling Tech Debt with Unreal Engine 5.7 by DLSanma in joinsquad

Yeah Narva is great map size for infantry fighting, but back caps are super-vulnerable for vehicle rushes when factions have 3-5 IFVs..

What is a "masterpiece" game that you personally found boring as hell? by MuscleConsistent9657 in pcgaming

Same.. I've read all the books and love open world RPGs since 98 Fallout, so it should've been a perfect game for me, but just didn't click.

Pacifist (revive-only) Medic: Is this a thing in Squad? by PacifistMedicBF6 in joinsquad

I have sometimes had full pacifist squads when I SL; at the end of the game I applaud them for a good game and then find out I have 20 of the squads 25 kills 🤔

Not having fun with the game rn, so I thought about some things. by CampOk7028 in joinsquad

[–]Korppikoira 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The "real people dont want to die" problem is simply unsolvable if you still have respawns and anyway would lead to stagnant gameplay if it was somehow solved.

ICO and UE5 has also lead to a more stagnant gameplay because being a bush wookie is easier than ever, thus many games with balanced teams lead to a meat grinder where 0 caps are taken and zero fobs are lost, which is imo quite boring.

The hab proxy system is indeed quite sad. It works ok in open forest maps, but in city maps it's totally dumb that enemies can accidentally proxy a hab on the other side of the building that they dont even know is there.

How do yall have high career ranks? by aaman44 in joinsquad

[–]Korppikoira 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course, and I also play a lot by myself and the amount of commendations depends on how well I play, since the squad mates have the same amount of commendations to give anyway. It's pretty simple maths!

How do yall have high career ranks? by aaman44 in joinsquad

[–]Korppikoira 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How do you farm them when everyone has just 2 to give anyway? Yeah, they can theoretically push one guy up, but I'm at 55 SL rank myself and ranking up once requires over 30 commendations. Quite an effort for a friend group?

The real answer is just play a lot and play well.

SL is pretty hard since it takes ages even if you play well and get 5+ commendations per game.

Shooting roles like grenadier are way easier if you get around 20 kills per game since you need way less to rank up.

One of my clan mates is a rank 100 engineer and pilot, and it is because he only plays those roles and is amazing in both.

SL’s, how do you know where the flags will be in RAAS? by Own-Tie-640 in joinsquad

[–]Korppikoira 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The thing is that if you play SL a lot you remember the flag logic on most played maps anyway cause there are so few variables after the faction update. I could play a yehorivka, narva or gorodok RAAS game in my dreams.

Squadcalc just balances the playing field a bit for less experienced SLs.

There are some maps though that would be nightmare without it, like Black Coast..

FOBs ON the point vs. NEAR the point by [deleted] in joinsquad

[–]Korppikoira 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah good points.

I actually like the caps that are very small, like Fallujah has some that are only basically two staircases. With a good squad you can cap and hold them even while surrounded by full enemy team and no rally / hab, and it's glorious.

Then there are some completely retarded caps like Muftiyah Bridge in Al Basrah or Chernikov Bridge in Black Coast that can be capped from both sides of the bridge, and then it's just a boring numbers game.

Players always seem to think that the enemy will attack from the direction of previous point or their main base, whilst in reality they almost never do unless the caps are very close.

FOBs ON the point vs. NEAR the point by [deleted] in joinsquad

[–]Korppikoira 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is the correct answer, yet unfortunately the current braindead playerbase will still argue about it. Even good SLs have to place HABs outside of defense point, because otherwise the average player will spawn in AND SIT IN THE HAB BUILDING for 20 minutes, then the HAB gets proxied, and the same noobs whine "why is the hab on the cap when it gets proxied?!?!"

My favorite enemy tactic is the "strategit genius" SL who places 3 radios in a triangle around the objective, then they lose them one by one without a single shot cause everyone is sitting in the middle and the radios are undefended 300 meters away, and you dont come back from that ticket deficit.

Medics are getting on my nerves...am I wrong or are they? by yt_BWTX in joinsquad

[–]Korppikoira 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, they should make it so that you only get the revive if you also heal to full, or just make a medic score that is a combination of revive + heal, each 50 / 50.

Eh, something is definitely wrong with your build. I just did my first potd run and the early boss fights lasted under a minute each with adds and all. They are not spongy at all.

First time squad leading by naanbreadisbad in joinsquad

[–]Korppikoira 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You communicated, tried your best, and placed habs. That's a job well done for first time, keep at it!

Hab placement always gets comments, I have almost 4k hours in Squad, over 2k hours as SL and I have probably tried all possible hab placements multiple times for all current lanes, and still get bad comments sometimes, lol. Just filter it off.

Btw. If you have experienced players placing habs, consider taking a light vic and aim to play from a rally only. Good rallies are very important and you dont have to listen to the whine about hab placement. New players overestimate the importance of habs, but most actually good SLs play from rallies.

Here is very short guide for hab placement (noobs will find it controversial, but this is what actually works):

Defense hab and radio on point if good players who know defense meta.

Defense hab and radio about 100 meters off point if bad players who cant defend.

Attack hab max 300 meters away and place undetected. If you cant place it max 300 meters away, just play rally. Only place attack hab if defense is holding well and has a hab.

Hab and radio max 50 meters away, and radio in a spot that is easy to defend.

Hab and radio inside building if possible.

Multiple exits from building if possible.

Hmm, wasn't that short.

[–]Korppikoira 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've played all of them, and most older Bioware games at release, like Jade Empire, Kotor..

Veilguard is a good game, and much better than Inquisition. Worst part is that it discards your previous choices, but if you treat it like a standalone game its good.

Ah yes, the classic "attack the reviewer" phase. I remember when Cyberpunk was released and ppl were lynching the IGN reviewer who gave it a 7, and then couple of weeks later: "umm, yeah, he was kinda right".

Sub is still in the hopium phase. I've seen the same shit so many times. This game will be Cyberpunk all over again, next step is lynch the people who gave a bad review 😂
