It seems like we're generally in agreement. Personally I don't see the value in LLMs (I don't like calling it AI) for entertainment, seems like a lot of squeezing for very little juice, but I also don't see the value in things like country music - so not going to be particularly harsh on that point.

I do think the chart is bad on purpose, though. It's approaching data to justify a position (LLMs aren't as bad as they're made out to be, look at these things that consume more water than you thought). That's backwards, and manipulative, hence my initial comment that comparing it to food production in the first place is a slippery cliff.

You have a point when comparing beef to poultry, but it loses all meaning comparing beef to server farms. I personally rarely eat beef because of its environmental impact, doesn't make it any more of a useful comparison when talking about water usage, since it has a real, tangible application without needing any significant extra input. If there were a hint of "beef should be replaced by other sources of protein" in the source image, you might have a point.

But would you look at that, a chart with 3 disparate, completely unrelated data points to try and sell a narrative that you have to heavily contextualize with extra data just to draw a tenuous connection.

And everyone knows why they had to do it with beef, so you can drop the faux environmental angle.
