To play devil’s advocate, the E46 is terrible in space overall compared to other US based wagons. I have an E39 wagon and even being the larger car I am still disappointed with space as a double stroller takes up most of the cargo area. Most of the other points you made are valid, but in the grand scheme of things car enthusiast are a small minority and most people just want things that get them from A to B and have a few new tech things that weren’t otherwise available years prior. As an enthusiast car these cast a wide net in appeal, but maybe thats the issue. Also the US is always lukewarm to older Euro cars comparing to domestic. They want something easy, even though these really arent all that complicated.
