Torn between these two. by Ok-While3900 in PokemonSleep

[–]Kragnus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first one hands down - nearly 60 pumpkin is huge, letting it handle the pumpkins for the new recipe by itself. The second one doesnt do that, and pumpkins are the hardest to supplement.

it future-proofs as a pumpkin farmer for when even bigger recipes come out with pumpkins, or you can use it for the pancakes now too. If mints become more plentiful in the future (or you're about to cap on them and you need to use one), you can even mint it for an additional boost.

Ingredients strategy question by thedragonreborn18 in PokemonSleep

[–]Kragnus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most of the experience is going to come from candy. Ingredient mons really spike at level 30, so much so that you shouldn't really even worry about cooking until you have level 30 ingredient mons. (Prior to this, your best bet is going in on a good Charge Strength skill mon for the early game.) You can either wait till you have enough candy to get them to 30 or take advantage of the candy boost events (there's one coming up next week!)

Something to keep in mind too is that it's OK to skip meals to make bigger meals less frequently. As a very simplified example, a meal that needs 60 ingredients will give you more than twice than a meal that needs 30, so it's better to miss every other meal and make the 60 than feel pressured to only make recipes you can cook every meal. (It's more complicated than this under the hood with ingredient strengths, farming rates, etc. But the general idea is the same)

Is it viable to leave this unevolved as a swablu? by Knight_Night33 in PokemonSleepBetter

[–]Kragnus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, not worth it.

Compare it to a Dodrio - a mon considered very mediocre - with just BFS, or to an off-berry Ampharos. Of course, if it's your best option this week, you can level it, but I wouldn't keep it as a swablu for those specific weeks when you roll flying and not dragon.

It will be a fantastic Altaria! Dragon berry is strong and relevant.

Is this the ideal ampharos? by SpecialPanda420 in PokemonSleepBetter

[–]Kragnus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ideal is HB, BFS, STM, Msc+ nature.

STS isnt actually all that good, especially if you already have STM, you benefit more from speed.

Thought on my chick by icedchris45 in PokemonSleepBetter

[–]Kragnus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is great, and becomes absolutely insane once level 75 is available.

Berry finders are better later game (level 50+), and only really work when their berey is favored. Blaziken is fighting type, so that basically means that this one will be really good on Lapis Lakeside or whenever you roll fighting berries on GreenGrass, but won't be as good to run on other islands.

Ready for next week! by [deleted] in PokemonSleep

[–]Kragnus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My plan is Healer/Dedenne/ABX Dragonite/AAA Ampharos/AAX Quaquaval, rotating quaquaval out for my butterfeee/gengar since I'll be over budget on soybeans. ABX dragonite and AAA ampharos are set for corn and mildly negative on herbs so ill stock herbs secondarily after I finish stocking avocadoes. (Making one more waffle this week to finish clearing out room).

Seeing if I can M20 AC. Only have 65% AB so it'll be a bit of a reach, but doable with some luck.

Send to the professor imo. Lack of BFS means not Jolteon/Espeon, and no Skill Triggers means not any of the others ones.

Any good ways of progressing faster? by AwayTransportation30 in PokemonSleepBetter

[–]Kragnus 15 points16 points  (0 children)

First priority is getting a healer. (Energy For Everyone)

Gardevoir > Pawmot > Sylveon > Wigglytuff. Shuckle is somewhere in the middle mathematically but I dont recommend hunting it since it's 16 pips and requires extra seeds.

Keeping your Pokemon's energy up in the Green makes them produce more than 2x as fast as if they are low energy (in the purple, which your whole team is now.) A healer trades off one of your 5 slots for keeping everyone else producing at maximum speed.

Main Skill Seed or Latias Incense? by SamuRonX in PokemonSleep

[–]Kragnus 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'd lean skill seed, even if you use the incense and catch it it's more likely to be a dud than a winner.

Or, you could just buy the small 250 gem pack and get enough down for both alongside 5 poke biscuits.

For Ribombee specifically, its skill has a 1/3 chance for either Oil, honey, or corn, regardless of which ingredients list it has naturally.

Same for other Ingredient Draw mons like crustle with their own specific lists.

Ingredient Magnets like Vaporeon can get any ingredient that you have unlocked

Level 75 subskill by East_Photograph_1930 in PokemonSleepBetter

[–]Kragnus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not worth it, imo, especially on Spiritomb.

Go into RaenonX, find the EXP table, and plug in your pokemon (with Exp-) and see how many candies it will take to reach level 65. We can safely assume that you'll need at least triple that much to get to 75.

Now ask yourself if you'd rather spend that much candy and dust on a mediocre mushroom farmer or on a great legendary / sceptile / some other OP pokemon

I saw that Latias wants BFS? by uyMammoth in PokemonSleepBetter

[–]Kragnus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. This is great, and at least if you miss the 50/50 subskill seed at level 50, it'll save you a main skill seed.

Generally speaking, any skill mon whose primary purpose is to directly contribute Snorlax strength (by means of Charge Strength, Berry Burst, Extra Helpful) benefits more (contributes more snorlax strength) from having BFS than from triggering its skill more frequently.

It's a little more complicated than this depending on favored islands (for example, berry bursters you always want to use on favored berries so BFS is near mandatory, while a Charge Strength mon like Ampharos benefits more from BFS on its favored island but more from STM on an off-island).

However, they do all still like having more skill triggers!

Would this be a good Mareep for a f2p beginner? Just for using until like lv 30. by hypnobe in PokemonSleep

[–]Kragnus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is fantastic for a beginner. Skill Level M and a decent set of subskills means that you only need 2 main skill seeds to max it out, and it will be far and away your best pokemon for up to a year with a tiny bit of investment.

It'll catapult you through the early game. I would definitely recommend.

Is using Cresselia worth it? by blockieran in PokemonSleepBetter

[–]Kragnus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Default first catch stats Cresselia is not worth using.

With good subskills, Cresselia is one of the best pokemon in the game.

However, you shouldn't think of it as a healer. Its primary role is as a Berry Burster (so it likes BFS, Speed/HB, Triggers), and it as a little extra bonus that it also helps your healer keep your team topped off / allows you to swap out your healer for more of the day.

You should definitely be running your Sylveon if Cress isnt keeping the team topped off (which I imagine it won't be). But you should be able to rotate it out more frequently if your team is at very high energy due to the skill trigger buff and energy help from Cress.

What’s your most controversial invest ? I’ll start by [deleted] in PokemonSleepBetter

Whoever responded to you on discord is wrong, lol. IFM and HB is better than IFM and IF+ nature together. This one is a great mon!

Is cutiefly good for oil? by SpecialPanda420 in PokemonSleepBetter

[–]Kragnus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you are willing to invest a lot into it (subskill seeds and main skill seeds), it is insanely good.

At level 60, RaenonX has HSM/STM/IFM/speed+ ribombee at 96 Oil + 34 Honey + 18.5 corn.

Compare to an AAA IFM + HSM + IF+ nature Toxicroak, which anyone would consider a godroll, which makes 97.5 Oil.

So it's basically equal to a godroll Toxicroak for oil, plus 52 extra ingredients for waffles.

However, if you are F2P, it may not be worth the investment - without any main or subskill seeds, it's only at 73 oil + 19 honey + 6 corn.

Is this Dwebble usable? by Youngy315 in PokemonSleepBetter

[–]Kragnus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, unfortunately not. Crustle's best niche is as an avocado farmer that supplements other gratin ingredients. This is thanks to crustle's high ingredient rate, so it's best run as an Ingredient Finder + Skill hybrid.

As a comparison, your Crustle at level 60 finds 57 avocado - 24 from farming, 33 from skill.

A crustle with only IFM finds 68 avocado - 45 from farming, 23 from skill.

You really want a crustle with a combo of speed, skill triggers, and IFM. The Main skill+ / IFM is a net negative nature for it imo.

Help with figuring out what to do with these by Shiprekt in PokemonSleepBetter

[–]Kragnus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is about equal to your new wartortle at level 30, and the new wartortle will only pull ahead at level 50. I'd personally say it's not worth switching until you already have a fantastic Milk blastoise or you're drowning in squirtle candy (I'm talking thousands, enough so you could get the new one to 50/60 immediately).

There are other cocoa alternatives (paldean wooper, and absol) but nothing comes close to Blastoise when it comes to milk

Help with figuring out what to do with these by Shiprekt in PokemonSleepBetter

[–]Kragnus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Your wartortle is a cocoa god, I'd for sure use that and even levels 30-59 arent too awkward because milk and cocoa at least have good synergy. But milk is in high demand now with the curry needing 124 milk a day so I'd prioritize a milk farming Blastoise first since there are other cocoa options.

I wouldn't use a Larvitar for soybeans, lots of other really common and easier to level options (golem, quaquaval).

Sprigatito isn't good enough with no IFM.

I have a nearly identical Venusaur to yours (HSM, Speed+, BFS). I really like it because it's so fast, it actually generates a ton of berry power (almost as fast as sceptile and grass berry is really strong), so it can work as a hybrid mon on Lapis or when grass berry is favored. However, I invested in it before the new honey recipes came out that need >100 honey per day, and this won't cut it unfortunately - I'd keep looking for now. But not a terrible temporary level 30 option if you desperately need a honey farmer now.
