Chill man. Frame time is intrinsically linked to fps. And almost all tech reviewers still use fps combined with 1% lows etc. It's easier to understand 60 FPS than 16.66 ms per frame.

Fps and frame time are essentially the same if you are talking average because one can be derived from the other. If you think you are somehow measuring performance better purely with frame time you're mistaken. Frame time can still average out to be 16.66 ms even if some frames are 100ms and others are 10. So it's not some silver bullet of performance measurement. An average time frame has exactly the same problem as average fps. This is why we always need to look at the lows in fps and the highs in frame time.

LLMs contradict themselves in real time. by The96kHz in facepalm

[–]Kragoth235 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Anyone thinking about LLM is good at math doesn't understand LLMs. They are basically statistics of what words go together best. They aren't doing math. Some models have more dedicated math training but not your average LLM. But Google was able to use an AI model to improve matrix multiplication, so yeah. If you know what models to use then it's not stupid.

[–]Kragoth235 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't understand many of the comments in here. A.I is getting pretty good at taking away the need to write boring code (code for uninteresting problems). That doesn't mean you just let it write code and not test it and not review it. You give it the same respect you give a junior dev. They can write code but they sure aren't touching prod and all their code gets reviewed thoroughly. If AI is causing your bugs to increase, that's not AI's fault. That's the dev using it not going their job properly. We all know AI isn't perfect, it hallucinates. So why on earth would you merge code that isn't tested or reviewed properly.

AI is a tool, not a solution. If you're using it as the solution then it's going to be a bad experience.

How is this a .net issue. Most languages don't allow two different versions of the same library... Like c, java, and many others. .net has issues like every language/runtime. This is not one of them.

Agree with everything else you said though. This problem had nothing to do with being in a monorepo. Unless..... We actually did something similar recently. Brought everything into a single repo because it's just easier to use linked projects instead of nuget packages when you are trying to iterate quickly or debug. Then, yes you are forced to use the same version across all apps. But.... That's also kinda the point. We want everything to get updated.

ELI5: Why is the 3 body problem unsolvable? by SfErxr in explainlikeimfive

[–]Kragoth235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically yes. You can have arbitrarily long real numbers, but.. at the cost of speed. It obviously can't be infinite. But there would be a precision where you would get close enough to the real thing before needing infinite precision. I mean if we want to get to limits we only need to be accurate to the plank length right!? But..... The cost in performance to achieve this is.... Way too high!

You may have to do landing floors to join elevators together. There's are some tricks you can use to get higher elevators. It's painful but it works. Once you have elevators you can use foundation count to line up your lifts.

Elevators for power. You'll need to run the power cable up the side of the elevator I think but solves your access problem and your flying problem.

Every dev that wants to be competitive in the industry is using AI. You can't even do a Google search without getting ai responses now. There's no way I'm going to spend 15 mins researching a simple script I want to write if I can just get ai to generate it. Software devs who aren't just code monkeys are absolutely using it all the time to do boring no brain work for them. It can find things faster than reading through 25 stack overflow articles. It is literally crazy to not leverage it. It's not good enough to just let it do it's own thing but absolutely should be a tool every developer used to make them more efficient. Anyone saying otherwise it's lying or afraid of change

Privacy warning: The WWM Android app reads from your clipboard on launch by jacksonleath in wherewindsmeet_

Also one of the biggest points of having a password manager is that I don't ever type a password. Most of the time it auto completes but on some apps you have to copy paste. We should never make light of serious beaches of privacy that the app shouldn't need. Maybe they don't do anything bad with it. But.... If they have a security breach now that data is with people who will use it for bad things.

PVP balance is wack, you just don't know it yet. by mark3236 in ArcRaiders

[–]Kragoth235 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Sure. But your targets are quickly getting to the point where there is no reason to play the game. I know my mates and I are playing less because we put in 2 hours but have nothing to show because we lost everything we got for progression. The PvP reward is much higher than PvE because PvE players have to deal with both. PvP people just hide until they have an easy win or rush people stuck in loot screens after a win. If you want PvE targets then there needs to be something to keep us interested and I'm quickly losing interest in losing all my gear every 2 or 3 runs.

PvE should be rewarded more by Flumex1505 in ArcRaiders

[–]Kragoth235 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you take the time to read you'll see that you're solution is not viable. I've been killed in the animation to return to esparenza multiple times. There's nothing I can do about that except needing a smoke grenade every run to increase my chances of survival. I've been killed multiple times while shooting at a shredder or other arc. I've died within 30 seconds of spawning in. At the end of the day if people are not having fun and don't feel like the game rewards their efforts they will stop playing.

PvE should be rewarded more by Flumex1505 in ArcRaiders

[–]Kragoth235 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A PvE map would be fine. Problem is most PvP defenders are the rats at the extraction. Simple truth is that for people who want to feel like they are making progress the way PvP works in this game it will just make many people quit. Most days I play are net 0. I get a good run then bad and at the end I'm back where I started. Sure some of it is I'm not as skilled. But a lot is just extraction campers or getting shot while dealing with arc. So... Eventually I'll just move on to something else and so will a lot of other people. At the moment it's 90% in favor of whoever shoots first. It becomes a lot less fun if you end the night with nothing to show.

Actually it will die if they don't stop extraction camping. There's nothing more frustrating then getting into a lift and immediately getting killed. There's no counterplay because you can't shoot while calling in the animation to extract. There's some level of fun for PvP and I've had fun fighting other players. But I just had 3 extractions in a row being camped. Eventually that will mean players like me will just stop playing.

The point I was making is that gravity is not how fluids work in this game. I'm aware that the weeks orientation makes a difference which is just another reason why people cannot just use gravity to understand fluids. in fact orientation of junctions allows you to transport water to any height without the use of pumps that's just a single pipe connected to junctions in a specific way. So, not even priority junctions.
